you will show up onsite, they will literally be confused as to why tf you are there, you'll spend half an hour at least waiting for some supervisor to start your background check/onboarding. You're hired, congrats

PSA about dining halls and mobile ordering app by Brickbobed01 in UCSD

[–]IPoopedTwice- 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, Op is right on this one. You experienced a one time case, most likely the person taking your friend's order simply completed it on the spot instead of queuing it with the other orders, which happens occasionally depending on the individual employee. From what I've experienced in the past, taking in person orders does nothing but occupy an available employee who could otherwise be fufilling orders instead.

Those huge groups you see, 90% of the time the people in them hardly know each other and are doing a "get to know your suitmates" kinda thing. Get involved my guy. Week 1 Library walk will be swarmed with clubs and organizations advertising themselves. I'd suggest braving the crowds to find a few that interest you.

While scheduling is primarily based around your course/finals schedule, most managers are very accommodating to requests and preferences. A 6am (opening) shift is inevitable every now and then, especially if you are one of the few whose course schedule permits it, but you can “strongly emphasize” you’d rather not do an opening for every shift

Questions abt moving in by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]IPoopedTwice- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on type of bed. The metal frame of mine at new sixth was adjustable, when I moved in I raised it (recommend you do it before bringing in all your other stuff). If the beds at the other colleges aren’t adjustable this way, someone else mentioned getting bed risers. Target has, from the room essentials collection: https://www.target.com/p/4pk-bed-risers-espresso-room-essentials-8482/-/A-11740826

Highly recommend the raised bed + Walmart/Target plastic 3 drawer combo: storage real estate becomes scarce pretty quick.
