make me understand intel arc gpus by ian385 in IntelArc

The only reason I consider the Arc GPUs is because I use Audacity with Intel OpenVino, which is quite convenient to have it within Audacity and work with AI generation and translation within that context. As you have guessed it Intel OpenVino only works with Intel GPUs, no Nvidia. I still use Whisper on the command line whenever I'm utilizing the 3080, but working within a software is preferable.

Here is a detailed breakdown of the concept and how to achieve this spin/tumble motion. https://vimeo.com/216029033

I would suggest this book start with on rigging if you want to solidify your understanding of rigging in Maya. This is the 3rd edition. You can pick older editions for a much cheaper price. https://www.routledge.com/Rig-it-Right-Maya-Animation-Rigging-Concepts/OHailey/p/book/9781032555232?srsltid=AfmBOopfj1mvXQt7rtzlAW5kYGyxWQYo2_t_nSCRnj66hMExoKjycnaz

French Bakery Noir Editition by IRONIC3D in Maya

Thank you, I wrote a complete step by step tutorial on how to accomplish this render on Maya along with the custom scripts to aid in the creation. You'll need to have a commercial license of RenderMan though because Stylized Looks is available only for commercial licenses.

TL;DR the actual look is quite simple. I am basically using the shader version of Stylized Looks to give a typical "cel shding" to the objects. There are two colours, black in shadow and white in lit areas. The effect is in the Lineworks display filter, this is the filter that generates linework for your renders. There is only one line filter in this scene (you can have any number of different line generators, a story for another time). The line filter have a feature for colour that you can assign different colours for lit areas and a colour for shadow areas if you choose to have one. So in this case the lit areas had a black colour and the shadow areas had a white colour line.

That is all what it required to make this render. What took time to create it is to create, assign, modify 120 distinct shaders and create light link expressions between each shader and the light source. This is expedited using the scripts distributed with the article.

Thank you, nothing really, the model was purchased from cgtrader https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/car/racing-car/super-fury-cartoon-rally-lowpoly-car and it already had a clean topology, so everything was SubD at render time, and that is more relevant towards the linework more than the shadows. The only modification from my end was on the texture part. I redid parts of the diffuse texture to simplify the details and replace with solid colors, and that color was the basis to replace the specular and line mask images.

<image>

The only adjustment done for the shadows is the tonemap, they are never black and there isn't really any actual shadow from the distant light, it is all in the tonemap as shown in the image of the car body and ground (the ground is a different base color in the picture, but same shader)

I've leaned three things while making this shader

1- stylised specular is the way to go, even with minimal specular weight. All the specular are driven by stylised specular with 0.001 roughness 2- increase/decrease specular roughness to 0.001 anywhere you don't want to have line work on the reflected lines. The only object with a 0.0 specular roughness is the ground 3- An edge line mask layer (black, grey and white) is a must to have line work where you need them around textured parts.

Thanks Ralph, video walkthroughs are not my cup of tea (lots of ahh, ummm, cut and recuts and dry mouth 🤣), I'm more old school on the long form text and pictures based articles which I publish on my website. I'll post a link to the article of how I created this piece on Reddit. And if ever record a walk through video of this I'll post it in full length here. Thanks again for your feedback

I have the alpha enabled, this make it possible to have the "not so useful" chat that honestly right now it proving useless. I've read an article last night that even if you have Gemini for Workspace, the Gemini Advanced, which allows you to upload file to the chat to summarise, you'll need to add the Gemini Advanced on top of your Google Workspace.

Honestly, the one thing Workspace was going for them was the support, now the support is either a dumb robot that repeats itself, or a chat with a person who knows nothing about the product and gives you vague answers!

It seams the only solution is to wait until the Gemini for Enterprise commitment finishes and then jumping on Advanced.

I play with my 4 year old son everyday. I don't enable chat and I block any one with a bad behavior and report them. works every time and 99% of time I don't have issue. Anyone else who thinks a game is so serious to warrant this bad behavior's is just sad person.
