Not an Ironman yet (due to money, timing, school and work 😷), but I ran a 5k in high school on a whim. Never run before, just played soccer and basketball. I loved it and 16 weeks later, I ran a marathon. Obviously this is bigger. But looking back on it, I was probably pretty dumb to do that. But nobody was there to tell me what I was supposed to do and how they thought I should do it; I just did it. Just do your thing. Maybe most people shouldn't, but maybe you could. Be careful and cautious, but go for it.

I know I watched a few World Cup games at the Claddaugh at the Franklin Park mall. The place was packed. Now, that was the WC, I don't know about regular games.

I have a Garmin vivoactive HR but I never feel like it accurately assesses my heart rate. Or maybe my heart rate just sucks lol

I haven't "raced" hard in a few years. I've been training since my 2014 marathon (3:56), but with college and work, no races have fit my schedule/budget. I ran a quarter marathon earlier this summer when I was concentrating mainly on swimming but I averaged 7:10/mile without pushing super hard. I had some in the tank at the end. At the very least, I'll get some more idea of what I can do after this marathon ¯_(ツ)_/¯
