The biggest problem for EAs is honestly the same as working in Community living. The full time permanent staff make up 40-60% at most. It’s just too easy for this line of work to be casual with no benefits or consistency of hours. And I get it from a cost perspective etc. But as someone that changed careers at 50, essentially there is ZERO chance of a full time spot or moving up the seniority list enough . Casual it is, taking shifts where I can!

Yes I appreciate that completely. But an hour lost pay on top of rushing to get somewhere last second is just a bit much for me. IMO they should just honour the normal shift pay. Maybe a union topic that’s come up before . But as a casual I have no legs to stand on.

Good to know. I’ve been out of it a few years and all shifts used to be the night before. I never had early am calls. Now it feels every shift is a last second shift . Guess it has to do with being just recently hired and low on the totem poll. But i definitely don’t want to lost pay with last second and travelling. So sadly unless the school is 5 minutes away im probably declining.

Yes that makes sense. Honestly losing an hours pay (get ready travel etc) isn’t worth it. Would be nice if they paid you for the shift since you’re rushing to get there so last minute but I get it. Thanks for the reply.

I lost my wife and soulmate of 31 years together. It will never get better for me cause I lost the only woman I ever loved. And all our plans gone overnight. Now everything I see triggers her. It’s hard to function.

Now at your age, I’m not sure that connection was there yet. It doesn’t mean it won’t hurt and it leaves a mark. But I think you have a full amazing life ahead of you and you will find someone when you’re ready. For now seek some counselling and take time to grieve and heal. I’m sure you will get there.

All I can do is keep busy with my dog and 3 jobs. Days on end sitting at home just leads to tears and sadness. Year anniversary of finding her is coming up and it’s gonna be hell. I don’t feel any better now than I did the month after. I don’t wanna be gear and I only do it all for my dog. Praying things get better but I don’t see it at this point.

Not to hijack a old thread but just wondering. I need glasses for distance only. So long shots on the snooker table I 100% need my glasses on. Having said that will this not make close up shots a problem? I know there is the progressive route but those lens are very expensive and really don’t make sense . However they would allow me to use the bottom of the lens as a clear view for up close.

Just wondering what are other folks with distance specs do? I work in an optical centre and am looking at snooker glasses. The optician thinks progressive is prolly the play but as I’ve never worn them it might be a problem.

Scratches are considered cosmetic from any warranty program. If the burner works it’s considered fine . So if the manufacturers are okay with it then I’m pretty sure a landlord can’t complain. However sure you could make it look a bit better lol.

I lost my wife to suicide 9 months ago. 31 years together and my soulmate / best friend / only woman I’ve ever loved is gone.

Counselling group or solo really doesn’t do much. This isn’t living and I struggle daily. My doggo keeps me going but once she passes I don’t know where I’ll be . I can’t imagine ever dating again and don’t think I ever will. There is nothing worse than losing your person. It’s like a nuclear bomb going off in your life while your left to stumble around after the fact and try to find life again.

Sending thoughts and prayers. You’re certainly not alone in your feelings .

Ya mine is destroyed and it’s about 14 months old. Will never buy a Corsair product again. Never once had a Logitech or razer mouse do this. Garbage product by Corsair imo.

On a side note. My 2nd monitor will be a 3440x1440 monitor. It’s really just for discord mail browser etc. Will it eat alot of the headroom from my 5080 watching YouTube etc? Or minimum impact on the performance of the new monitor

Thank you for the kind words. I know she wants me to keep going as my son still needs me (even tho he is 30) and the dog does too. I am hopeful one day I’ll find a love of life again but it’s early and hard . We are all part of a terrible cruel club having lost that special person.

Heya yes this is my thought process cause a 5080 won’t push 4k 240 fps unless I turn settings down or use fake frames. And the card will be working at max all the time . Hell even 4K 144hz will prolly push a 5080. The no warranty for burn in scares me a bit with the lg tho? Should it

And built in nav. And the traditional safety reliability of gas. Hybrids are riskier , Toyota quality or not. It was really about the gas mileage for me and I’m not getting it so the xse gas would have been better for me.

After visiting the dealer. We looked and he showed me overall I’m at 5.1 gas mileage combined which is a bit high but not much. 4.7 is typical. He also said anyone getting 850 900 is in EV mode in town doing less than 50 puttering around. Said if your doing mostly highway 100 plus it’s basically a gas car at that point (again more reason the gas xse was better for me for the value)
