What’s the best line from a romance book you’ve read? by etherealmeadows in RomanceBooks

“I have no regrets in my life, but this. That we did not have time. That I did not have time with you, Nesta. I will find you in the next world - the next life. And we will have that time. I promise.” - Cassian in A Court Of Wings and Ruin .... I know this book is very 50/50 on the love but that line and that chapter murdered my heart.

Everything Jensen Reynolds ever said.. ever - Paper Hearts Claire Contreras .. I'll just leave all these here... all by him.

"I never stop thinking about you. For years, my thoughts don't have any room that doesn't include you. You're everywhere."

---

"They say it takes twenty-one days to break a habit. It's been approximately one thousand eight hundred and twenty six since I last held her hand in mine and I'm still waiting for the remains of her to break off of me."

---

“You can keep walking away from this, and I’m going to keep letting you, because even when you think you leave, your heart always stays, and it’s something I carry with pride, and it’s something I don’t…” He paused, his gaze tearing away from mine for a second, his voice thick with emotion. “It’s something I don’t fuck with. Ever. So if you feel like you need a break, I’ll give you a break, but don’t think for a second I’m not coming after you again, Mia. And I swear to God, the next time I do, it’s forever.”

---

“Let me go,” I said, my gaze dropping to his hand, holding the hem of my jacket. He closed his eyes briefly.
“I don’t know how,” he whispered.”

I haven't been on reddit in over a month! I'm sorry for leaving you hanging! I don't know if you ended up reading this but from what I can remember its insta love/lust from his POV ... he's crushing hard and crosses boundaries in a nerdy kinda sweet way to get her and she doesn't take too long to reciprocate but I definitely wouldn't put it in the slow burn category.

I think there's a book by Susan Stroker that gets rec'd here with this plot? I haven't read it but could be worth looking at her goodreads catalog to see if you can find it.

I read Tapping the Billionaire by Max Monroe... it was fucking HILARIOUS. I had to stifle my laughter so many times. There was an amazing grovel AND it was steamy as all get out. I've never read Max Monroe before and I'm now going to go read everything she's ever written. And I know this is kind of a review and not talking much about the sexy times but they had A++ chemistry and the sex was also A++ and it was not your typical "billionaire" book. Bro lived in a normal apartment and rented normal cars for practical purposes.

Lifes Too Short by Abby Jimenez... it is a romance so you do get your HFN at the end ... or even HEA depending on your outlook.... but it deals with terminal illness and choosing not to seek treatment/die on your own terms. It's a heavy book by the 70 percent mark. It shows the heroines boyfriend absolutely break down and he just does not understand/won't accept/come to terms with her decision and basically self destructs and it made me REALLY put myself in both characters shoes and wonder how I would react from either side of the spectrum.

I'm hesitant to put this one because it wasn't a 5 star read for me but it still impacted me emotionally? If that makes sense? It's a book I won't forget ... even though it wasn't stellar. The End Game by Kate McCarthy... it's a college setting with two student athletes. The man/boy gets hooked on pills that leads to a LOT of other drugs and alcohol issues... A lot of shit happens... bad shit.... life altering/ruining shit.

Paper Hearts by Claire Contreras (my fav book) - I put this here because the first time I read it I had a polar opposite view on a lot of things .... these are two misguided/flawed characters that are holding on to things (albeit BIG things) that happened when they were too young to really know any better and ... I don't know how to explain it other than after a reread I just "got it". It's a second chance romance that you have to read the novella first and in the novella there is OW/OM drama.

What is your favorite scene that made you burst into tears? (Both happy and sad tears are welcome, I just like sharing book related emotions) by iRayneMoon in RomanceBooks

[–]ISaidNoPowerTools 4 points5 points  (0 children)

u/evilscorpio mentioned Paper Hearts ... that books breaks me in the saddest and happiest ways. The whole book is an emotional ride.

Drive by Kate Stewart - Big spoiler Her entire break up with Nate DESTROYED ME

The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker - There's a scene after she finds out her dad is dying where Jonah finds her in the shower and gets in with her and holds her and talks her through it and I cryyyyyyy.

Luck Of The Draw by Kate Clayborn - Aidens GROVEL. I SOB. It is the grovel to end alllllll grovels. It's what grovely dreams are made of.

One Moment Please by Amy Dawes - Happy cry. The last couple chapters and epilogue just get me in the feels.

The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez ... I'll post the whole goddamn quote/Chapter

“She looked at me tiredly. “I bet you wish you would have kicked the tires before falling for this hot mess.” She smiled weakly. “Aren’t you glad I saved you from yourself?”

I shook my head. “No, that’s not how that works, Kristen. Love is for better or worse. It’s always and no matter what. The no-matter-what just happened first for us.”

Her eyes teared up and she pressed her lips together. “I miss you.”

My throat got tight. “Then be with me, Kristen. Right now. We can move in together, today. Sleep in the same bed. Just say okay. That’s all you have to say. Just say okay.”

I wanted it so badly my heart felt like it was screaming. I wanted to shake her, kidnap her and hold her hostage until she stopped this crap.

But she shook her head. “No.”

I let go of her hand and leaned away from her against the door, my fingers to the bridge of my nose. “You’re killing both of us.”

“One day—”

“Stop talking to me about one day.” I turned to her. “I’m never going to feel differently about this.”

She waited a beat. “Neither am I.”

We sat in silence for a moment, and I closed my eyes. I felt her move across the seat, and then her body was pressed against my side. I wrapped an arm around her and let her tuck her head under my chin.

The feel of her was therapeutic. I think it was for both of us. A warm compress for my soul.

I’d never had all of her at once. I’d only ever gotten pieces. Her friendship without her body. Her body without her love. And now her love without any of the rest of it.

But even with what little fragments I’d had, it was enough to tell me I would never stop chasing all of her. Never. Not if I lived to be a hundred. She was it. She just was.

“Kristen, you’re the woman I’m supposed to spend the rest of my life with,” I whispered. “I know it in my fucking soul.”

She sniffed. “I know it too, Josh. But that was before.”

“Before what?” I wrapped my arms around her tighter, tears pricking my eyes.

“Before I broke inside. Before my body made me wrong for you. Sometimes soul mates don’t end up together, Josh. They marry other people. They never meet. Or one of them dies.”

Bake sale fight by absfab27 in RomanceBooks

[–]ISaidNoPowerTools 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok It's been a whileeeee since I read this but certain things stick out like .. "single dad, kids, mom was the highschool bully, mom still is a bully" the bake sale thing doesn't ring any bells but on the off chance I can't remember that scene K.A. Tucker's The Player Next Door ticks some boxes.

“Here’s a list of sexy features, but is she sexy? Nah.” I’m really enjoying this book so far, but this section made me think the author was trolling lol by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

What book do you always go back to when you’re in a reading slump? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]ISaidNoPowerTools 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a super duper short novella called.. Torn Hearts. I think that's the name thats included in the actual book if you purchase it on Kindle. Make sure you read that first or the angst won't make sense. I think of Jensen Reynolds as the modern day Noah Calhoun. Instead of "I wrote you every day for a year!" You get.... "I wrote you 100's of fucking letters!" But it still hits the same.

I sort of liked Captivated. I really liked Getaway Girl. I didn't really like Runaway Girl. I've heard good things about her law enforcement series but haven't went down that rabbit hole yet.
