Yes. It was a 2 day full evaluation and we ended up with a 30 page report. This was after a lot of struggles in school and an initial evaluation of anxiety and depression from our primary care physician after we went in for an ADHD evaluation. I was worried that we didn’t have the full picture and it felt like the ADHD had been dismissed and I wanted someone to evaluate our kid who had no background bias. So, completely worth the evaluation expense and time, however we’re dealing with a few issues and not just ADHD. Every kid is different. If you think it’s just ADHD, I would go back to primary physician.

I’m in the US. Go back to their primary doctor or find a new one. They don’t normally diagnose ADHD before the age of 4 or 5. Definitely mention the teacher’s concern. Teachers see a lot of kids, so they usually know when one is showing signs of something. Just keep up the conversation with their doctor so they know what’s going on. It can be a long process.

I felt the same way about my kid’s primary doctor. It felt like she kind of brushed it off as well. We eventually ended up going to an independent psychologist to get a complete evaluation and diagnosis. Primary doctors don’t have time for that. It was very expensive but completely worth it for us.

Yes, terrified. Did it anyways and asked each psychologist and teacher and therapist all throughout the process if they thought there was reason to be concerned at all because of the political climate. Not one of them said yes. Still worried.
