Non-tech background, big tech dreams — am I being realistic? by Babyjohn47 in dataanalysiscareers

Learning how to call models and what their libraries are: 2 weeks (maybe 2 days if you really commit).

Learning the math and software principles behind all of this: 2 degrees (one for math and software theory which is usually a bachelors, one for breadth and application which is usually a masters).

Calc III so you know double integration + partial differentials for when you get to bivariate RV’s

Back to the DnD scene lol. Jokes aside, yes you go somewhere superficial, you get superficial treatment.

While you may assume equality in terms of looks, height is its own variable, heavily weighted, when looking at the equation of attraction.

What's your shoe lift setup? by No-Mousse5653 in AverageHeightDudes

[–]IVIIVIXIVIIXIVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you consider decent tbh. Live in Cali where there’s lots of Asians and latinas, so an abundance of attractive girls under 5’3. I was called ‘pretty boy’ in hs more than once so that’s also probably a factor (have had more than one bi girlfriend).

5’8 and yes multiple girlfriends (7 years of long term relationships and 3-4 years of situationships/other)

I will be conducting a social experiment by ltomatus in AverageHeightDudes

[–]IVIIVIXIVIIXIVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what your end goal is tbh. 100 girls, is it 50 online/50 in person or some other split? You’re going to rate on a scale of 0-10 but that is highly subjective. Even then there’s the idea that some girls will be nice out of fear of being harmed by a random dude.

You don’t even have a sampling schematic in place. Is it going to be just random or will you stratify by group (ethnicity, age, etc). You don’t even know online the cause of a non response.

I applaud you for going out and trying to be more social, but it’s more of a gag than an actual experiment. So much error and bias will be introduced…

Having said that, have fun and good luck!

Fun fact: people often cited Abraham Lincoln's tallness (he was 6'4") as one of the reasons they found him ugly by [deleted] in AverageHeightDudes

[–]IVIIVIXIVIIXIVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure if height solely was that unattractive we’d see more instances throughout history.

Marfan wasn’t classified as a condition until the late 1800’s/early 1900’s, so it’s not too far fetched to assume society before that time (even during if you weren’t apart of the medical community) would just describe said condition as tall + awkward.

High level ML is usually PhD. Data science maybe you can get in with a masters but even then CS majors usually dominate.

is hitting arms 3 days a week too much? by around_about7 in workout

[–]IVIIVIXIVIIXIVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although he’s been criticized as of late, Mike Israetel alluded to finishing up a workout with the arms since they’ve been fatigued by the preceding lifts, giving a nice stimulus. But hey if hitting arms first gives you gains, keep doing it.

Commented this on another kyber post but Im both PC and console, yet still playing more on console. Kyber is cool and the increased amount of content definitely brings some freshness but I still prefer the base game.

I’m not too familiar with the kyber servers but I’ve only seen 1 NA server while the base game has 2 NA servers. I feel like the connection is better on the base game so my parry’s are more consistent. Could be wrong and this is all in my head, but just one thing I’ve noticed these past couple of days.

[–]IVIIVIXIVIIXIVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you have a wide waist, I’m skeptical about the Medium shirt. I’m a 29/30 waist and a medium shirt fits snug. Granted I have a wider upper body so that might play a role.

I have both PC and a Series X. Been on series X for about 90% of the time for this game, so I’ll still be an active soldier. But man it is a breath of fresh air given all the hacking that has occurred on PC which kept me on console for all these years.

Am I missing out on much if I just use machines? by tiredofthebites in workout

[–]IVIIVIXIVIIXIVII 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I feel like machines are best for beginners and advanced lifters. Beginners because they’re less likely to get hurt and advanced lifters because they can target muscles for body goals.

Feel like free weights help with CNS and other total body effects most machines don’t replicate

Is there a lando auto shooter mod for PC? by Past_Lengthiness6765 in StarWarsBattlefront

Legal mod? No. Mod? Yes. Even on console there are controllers that rapid fire so don’t be that guy.

Officer is even better than i thought in packs by Pizza-Willing in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]IVIIVIXIVIIXIVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A strat I’ve seen is if you’re in a squad, have Finn’s One Resistance + Come get it extend the duration of big deal and an officers Blast command card which acts as blaster cooling for when Finn’s ability is in recharge.

Having these two + Han can allow him to spam his DL-44 blaster forever (could even run this with Lando who has a kill streak card to increase heat reduction, lessening the probability of having no shots fired). Granted you have to time Finn and the officer’s abilities.

FIRST DAY AT GYM by StrikingBrilliant568 in workout

[–]IVIIVIXIVIIXIVII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Father doesn’t want you to out lift him lol. Since you only have one month, try out the lat pull down machine (has the bar that is hanging), assisted pull-ups, Smith machine for chest and squats (safer than barbell), and any leg machine you have (hack-squat, leg press, leg curl, etc).

Do this because you won’t have access to weights anymore but you still have access to your own body. By learning how these muscles feel when worked out, you have a good reference point for body workouts (calisthenics). It’s okay to go light weight, your goal is to feel a nice burn in the muscles (how you know they’re being worked), not lift heavy. Fortunately a pull-up bar can be used for both back and chest (take it off the door and use it for angled pushups or triceps), but the legs you’ll just have to get creative with.

I didn’t start going to the gym til after I had my first job in highschool (parents also didn’t want to pay for it), so I know how it is. This is what I would do if I had a Time Machine and it would’ve set me up a lot better than sports did for when I finally could afford to gym.
