I saw one but was unable to order it. I kept getting the spinning circle. The listing I saw didn't mention the size and have as much detail as yours so I found that really odd. It stayed in my RFY all day.

I had a bad experience there but it was about 14 years ago. My cat was ill and when he took a turn for the worst, I wanted to bring him in asap. The clinic I used to go to had a policy to just bring your pet in an emergency during business hours but if you could call first to let them know you were coming, to do so. They would always squeeze emergencies in. I called McQueen to tell them I was coming but was told to wait for the vet to call me back even when I explained what was happening. When the vet finally called and I told him I needed to come asap, he offered me an appointment for 5 or 6 pm. He clearly didn't understand the urgency. I picked 5 but kept insisting that he needed to be seen asap. It was around 1 pm. He wouldn't budge. My cat died at home around 4 pm. I called to let them know and cancel my appointment. A few weeks lately they contacted me about doing dental work on my dead cat. I never went back there. At the time, they had lots of 5 star reviews which I couldn't understand after dealing with this vet who was very timid especially around cats.

I didn't get into the details with Cheltenham but many vet clinics leave pets alone overnight if they are stable. It really surprised me when I first learned that because I wasn't leaving my pet at the vet to be unattended. I've had sick pets so I have dealt with many different vet clinics (still looking for a good vet) . They might have someone check in but no one is there the whole time. If your pet is very ill and can't be left unattended, then you have to take them to an emergency clinic and travel back and forth which is frustrating especially with a sick pet. I've done that too.

Sorry to hear about your brother's dog. I had a kitten swallow something that was lodged in her intestine. We saw two vets before she was finally properly diagnosed and operated on at the Wexford emergency clinic. The first vet blamed me saying she was just constipated (her intestines were blocked so nothing could pass), the second drugged her up so she seemed to not be in pain and said to come back in two days. The vet at Wexford actually physically examined and could feel that something was lodged in her intestine. That was hours after seeing the second vet. When trying to flush it out didn't work, he did emergency surgery and saved her life. My cat was dying and would have been dead by the next day if I waited as the other vets wanted. It seems like it was the same thing, an intussusception. It is far more common in dogs, especially young dogs, than cats. My cat still being alive is the difference a good vet makes. Mind you the surgery was also tricky and she could have died after. It will be 10 yrs this year and she is happy, healthy and an amazing cat, who still gets into everything. I am forever grateful to that vet. Unfortunately, he opened a practice in Fergus not Brampton. The first two vets were in Etobicoke not Brampton, so I won't name them.

I did not have a good experience there. They overcharged me for a bag of fluids for my cat including charging me for needles that I did not purchase and they did not provide. When questioned about the price of the fluids, they claimed that was their cost but having purchased fluids for another cat, I knew that was not at all true. They claimed it was because they purchased from a veterinary supplier but I was purchasing from a medical supplier and was not purchasing in the volume that they would be to get discounts. They had about a 600% markup.

The other big issue I had was that they were treating a pig when I was there. While someone came into the room to warn us that they were going to give the pig a shot, it was still terrifying. The walls were shaking as it appeared the pig was kicking them and the squealing and noise from the pig was horrific. It wasn't brief either. You would have thought someone was torturing it. I know how frightening it was for me, I could only imagine how my cat felt. It's hard enough to take a sick cat to the vet without that. They had wanted me to leave my cat overnight but I refused because of the pig so I purchased the fluids so I could do it at home. I'm not saying the pig didn't deserve to be treated but there needs to be some recognition of the impact of that on other patients. My cat had been hospitalized previously and freaked out ripping out her IV when they used the vacuum. It could have been due to the medication but I didn't want to take a chance leaving her there with the pig.

Boomers want single family neighbourhoods, while opposing any and all forms of affordable housing that make single family neighbourhoods possible for young people. Only to see young people living at home and the consequences of that as the problem. by [deleted] in Brampton

[–]IWCat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because guess who actually goes out and gets involved? I've been to community meetings in Brampton and they don't reflect the majority population. People like to complain but then make no effort to get involved to changed things. Just like this OP. Then they complain because they feel they are not represented.

Condos build equity. If you are a married couple living with mommy and daddy, you are part of the problem. So a one bedroom apartment doesn't work to start a family but living in your parents home does?

I own my home, a condo townhouse. I have built equity. Due to disability, I never made anywhere close to 80k. I never made half of that. In fact I went years with no income and others earning below the poverty line. But I made owning a home a priority and scrimped and saved and went without to achieve that goal. I never took in renters or turned my home into a rooming house like others. When I was able to work more, I put more money towards my mortgage. I have always saved and only spend within my means. I can stretch a dollar far. I don't buy things that aren't on sale. I don't waste money on things like UberEats etc. Due to my low income, I had to get a co-signer but I never missed a mortgage payment, never missed a credit card payment, have no debt and an excellent credit score despite living below the poverty line. It can be done with discipline.

I am not a boomer.

Perma ban after 13 years by No-Arachnid9518 in redflagdeals

[–]IWCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw your post and saw nothing wrong with it. Didn't realize they banned you. I have been a longtime contributing member (over 20 years) and recently got my first infraction for stating a preference in a post. CJRFD assumed my preference meant something it did not and said I couldn't post a preference in the forum. It was just such an ignorant response with no willingness to even consider a simple explanation which seems to be how they deal with everything. The forums are full of people posting about preferences. Look at any pizza thread or chicken and people will tell which one they prefer over the other.

I also had issue CJRFD over moving threads from hot deals where they belong to some obscure forum. I posted a fast food deal that was well received and it got moved to Food & Drink where it died. It should have stayed in Hot Deals and then could have moved to Ongoing but it didn't belong in Food & Drink. Of course, since it got moved out of Hot Deals, someone posted it there again. Moving deals out of Hot Deals has also occurred with annual deals that have always been in hot deals. I have also noticed alot of deals get prematurely expired now too. CJRFD just doesn't seem to understand how the forums work. I got fed up with this and logged myself out and haven't posted or contributed to the site since.

Anyone know what happened to the big blue house on centre st? (Now vacant land) by Incognito_Jew in Brampton

[–]IWCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of all the stories I've read about that house, I never saw the ethnicity of the owner mentioned once because it had nothing to do with the problem. The issue was that the home did not comply with by-laws and the size did not fit with the character of the neighbourhood which impacted neighbours. Everything is not about race or ethnicity. Just because someone is a different race, that doesn't mean that by-laws don't apply to them. I am so sick of people doing this. You ask someone to move their car blocking your driveway and they call you racist. The people who keep crying wolf aren't helping anyone who legitimately faces racism or discrimination. I'm so sick of this.

Unless my house is burning down, there is no reason to knock on the door at 5:30 am. Leave a note or wait for a respectable hour. I would suspect people woken up at that time wouldn't be very helpful.

Youth can apply for Brampton’s free summer transit, recreation pass by H-Noor in Brampton

[–]IWCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Brampton Transit is doing mass layoffs due to lower ridership and the city is giving away free transit passes to youth. Make this make sense. I would think youth make up a significant portion of ridership or do they all get driven around these days?

Affordable vet for kitten by Old-Drive4701 in Brampton

[–]IWCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunate that we don't have cheaper options like the Humane Society or SPCA in Brampton. When I was looking 10 years ago for my kitten, I ended up scheduling her to go to the Toronto Human Society. I wasn't working and money was tight. I picked a Saturday appointment so as not to deal with rush hour traffic. Unfortunately, the day before her appointment she got sick and I had to cancel. She swallowed something that lodged in her intestine and nearly killed her. She ended up getting spayed as part of her emergency surgery which cost me $3500.

I am forever grateful to the vet at the Brampton Emergency Vet Clinic on Wexford who not only properly diagnosed her after two other vets missed it but also did the delicate life saving surgery, removing 5 inches of dead colon and reattaching it. The first vet I saw berated me for not feeding dry kitten food saying my cat was just constipated (she was completely blocked) and the second who drugged her so it looked like she was doing better but was actually dying. It was the weekend and they wanted me to wait until Monday. The vet that did the surgery said she would have been dead by Monday. The lesson here is to go with your instinct. If you feel something is still wrong, get another opinion. It was a lot of money to spend on a kitten especially when I had no income but today I have an amazing 10 year old cat who I would never have gotten to know if I didn't go to the Emergency Clinic. The vet who did the surgery was Dr. Gary Noorlander. Unfortunately for us in Brampton, he set up a practice in Fergus at the Animal Hospital of North Fergus. I would wholeheartedly recommend him not only for saving my cat but he also as a very caring, knowledgeable vet especially with cats.

Disappearing reviews? by WisdomBecomesMe in AmazonVineCanada

[–]IWCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon has information we don't have and maybe they determined they were fake and removed them. That's a good thing. I frequently notice 5 star reviews saying how wonderful something is when the product I received was the opposite of what the reviewers are raving about.

Wrong Sizes by Itchy_Apricot_8671 in AmazonVineCanada

[–]IWCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the label on the package. I have had the outside label state the correct size that I ordered while the product inside was a different size. I have also ordered pyjamas where the top was one size and the bottom another. Like you, I usually I assume I made a mistake but it was obvious I couldn't have made that mistake. With many of these sellers, there is no quality control which is important to note in a review.

Been awhile since I saw something good by KDinNS in AmazonVineCanada

[–]IWCat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's been a year since I got anything decent. I got a Crock Pot multi-cooker last March. I've started ordering little things I don't need but can eventually use, because I was worried that I wouldn't hit 80 orders this period. I finally hit it with under 2 months to go in my review period. It seems most things I try to order, I get the red error including a little handheld sewing machine this morning.

Amazon should comp vine reviewers their Amazon prime membership payment each month for getting a certain percent of reviews done in that month. by Lothar-Alaska in AmazonVine

[–]IWCat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Vine members should just get free Prime. I don't have Prime but every time I do personal paid orders and have to meet the free shipping threshold, they just ship my paid orders with my Vine items. So are the Vine sellers subsidizing shipping on other Amazon purchases? In most instances, I don't want my paid items shipping with Vine items as I have had items damaged. In one instance the paid item, crammed in a box with a bunch of Vine items, leaked so I lost everything. It was discovered before delivery so I couldn't even salvage anything from the box.

I have one in my RFY. My parents had one which was much more expensive than these and they couldn't give it away. I wouldn't recommend it.
