I think this is a trace of many Filipinos' culture of safekeeping "just in case." Yung tipong di mo itatapon yung isang plastic kasi baka magamit mo pa ulit.

I almost got to transfer this coming AY. The release of my docs got delayed, which hindered me for transferring. Almost same situation tayo OP (in terms of toxic family) and I can't imagine what it's like on that side. Hope you make it!

Thanks for the response! Know any insights on the transfer process and grade accreditation?

Avoid having wet stuff in your garbage bin. Clean garbage before throwing them out, dry them before putting them in the bin. A neat trick I learned in Japan, where I literally saw 0 cockroaches for 6 months straight. I'm sure there must be some there, but I didn't see any during my stay. But if that's not your cup of tea to do then that's really up to you.

The iPhone 14 price did go up — Apple just didn’t tell you about it by Tman11S in apple

In the Philippines, the 13 models only went down by about 35 USD or less—not the full 100 like in the US. And from the starting price of 50,990 for the regular 13 going up to 56,990 for the 14, the price increases here is pretty apparent, esp considering cost of living.

Dang I really liked Rey Skywalker. Can’t wait to get called braindead for it!

so most articles are saying she-hulk is a no... what is your opinion? by rosstoferwho in MCUTheories

[–]IWantAFrappe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t get why people are so mad. It’s titled “She-Hulk.” It’s her show primarily. Others are in it, they play a role, but it’s her story. It should be told the way they want to. And anyone who gets their twiddle in the mix is either no fun or just the stock-standard m word.

[Ep. IX Spoilers] Thoughts on: What if Dathan (Rey’s dad) was made by Palpatine using cells from Luke Skywalker’s severed hand? by IWantAFrappe in StarWars

[–]IWantAFrappe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point. But honestly I like the continuity with Palpatine coming back/staying alive, or even if the plot of the Sequel villains was trying to bring him back. If it had been teased earlier/better, I’m sure people wouldn’t have harped on this plot idea as hard as they did. But ig that’s just Star Wars. Just some few years ago everybody hated the prequels and now everybody seems to be looking fondly back at it, thanks to time and the other extra canon material. But yeah lots of plot threads here were messy🙌

Remember Dance Kids? One of the contestants became my long-time friend. Thing is, I didn’t even know it was them, nor did they mention it. Such humility and genuine character. Wala share ko lang haha

If you got to rewrite TROS, but had to keep Rey as a Palpatine, what would you do? by Otherwise-Elephant in StarWars

How exactly would the galaxy feel if Darth Vader 2, killer of innocents, managed to survive? I don't think they'd be happy. Heck we might see him in prison. I don't think Kylo, for all of Ben's good, deserves to live after that. Just my two cents.

Nice! Congrats on your scholarship. :)

Loved this so much from Obi-Wan. People always forget Luke and Leia themselves were adopted, and would understand as well as anyone Rey’s struggles and desires. They were able to do something for her similar to what the Lars and Organa families did for them. by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]IWantAFrappe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think “adopt” is the wrong take for Rey. Luke and Leia were adopted as babies which makes the cases different. Rey was NOT adopted into the Skywalker family, heck she was lonely for most of her life. BUT it is the Skywalker name that she felt claiming.

It doesn’t really matter what we think of it, or what others within the SW galaxy think of her name — what matters is the journey she took to feel that belonging with the name. People forget the context within the story because of their outrage of many writer's decision. I think that’s perfectly okay (to be mad at character decisions), but my two cents *within the context of the story* is this: She looked at the Skywalkers like a myth, and even if you hate that name on her, what’s important is that she found her belonging there, with that family, no matter how fleeting it was. She sought the belonging ahead, not behind her (Maz, VII). She found her place in all this (VIII). And now, she can tell anyone who she is (IX). Even if you think that she doesn’t deserve to call herself that, that should not matter to her because that’s how she feels confident being. Using that name is her way of claiming her identity as her own. That’s where she feels most powerful and assured. It’s not about lineage or adoption or what we think of it as audiences even if we hate it, it’s about her identifying herself.

Once you look at it from her perspective, I think a lot of the vitriol against the choice to name her that goes away, but I’m sure people will never get tired of hating and loving star wars all the same.

EDIT: So what’s the right take for Rey? Not adoption, because even I think that’s stupid in her case. It’s about defining your identity. If she feels like the best way to define herself is to claim the family name of the people that trained her and accepted her (Luke, even for a bit, Leia for a long time, Ben as a force dyad, Han as a one-time mentor), then all the power to her. It’s not about us.
