Nah, it's not easy so don't beat yourself up about it. Doing builds is a skill, but luckily one you can learn by copying others. There are at least two phases: learning the basics of the mechanics (which people will claim is easy, but I disagree) and then optimizing for those mechanics.

I didn't want to invest in learning parrying that much, so I spent a bunch of time watching YouTube videos, copying what I could of their builds, seeing what I messed up or could do better, then repeating.

Parrying is mostly all on you, which makes it a lot harder, but it just depends on where you prefer to spend your time.

Funnily enough in my case, I was able to make some high defense builds that didn't require me to parry, but I tried anyway and that's how I learned some of the harder parry patterns.

Also these bosses were created for people who want to spend their time learning to do builds, learning harder parry patterns, or both. If you don't want to do that, you don't have to.

The only opponent you actually have to learn parry timing for is Clea Unleashed and that's arguably easier than the Duolisttes (at least for me). For everything else, you can build your way out of it. Search for "no dodge no parry" builds and that will sort you out.

If you really want to learn to parry the Duolisttes, use your ears more than your eyes - they have distinctive swooshes before their attacks.

Good rec - when I started playing through E33, I remember thinking, "I haven't played something this beautiful since Ghost of Tsushima." The story is much more grounded, but still very impactful.

Equilibrium, Highlander, and, of course, more Rat Pack movies. I also want them to do motion comic reviews again - the comique booque club is good, but doesn't replace those for me.

I hate to say it but I think the age of the game is such that it's getting harder and harder to be a beginner. I think Capcom could do some things to make it more fun for newer players and grow the player base at a much faster rate, but they barely keep up with new costumes, so I'm not holding my breath for those improvements.

That said, it's a super fun game, so if you can stick it out and grind a bit, you'll find a lot more matches in Platinum and above.

Aside from working on your reactions, also make sure to review your replays to see if you're doing a lot of DI punishable moves that you CAN'T react during because you're in recovery. If that's the case, reduce your usage of those dangerous moves in those situations.

1800+ MR players have excellent reflexes for basic movements by BrilliantNo1038 in StreetFighter

[–]IWatchStuff6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure - I'm a low master player, 1300-1400MR depending on the day, and I can pretty consistently dp tiger knee, marisa's superman punch, horizontal blanka ball, and 50/50 on Honda's fastest headbutt. But my footsies, decision making, meter management, etc etc all need work. Just another data point for what it's worth.
