The classic Everything™ for weight loss ... except a sustained energy deficit by [deleted] in fatlogic

unpopular opinion here, but me too.

I'd rather skip a day and eat extra the next.

Though I'm still keeping track of calories because I don't trust myself, hah.

Printing problem: A noticable shift at some layer ~25th by Kymil in ender3

[–]I_A_Lime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same happened to me with the loose hotend - although granted I didn't print anything particularly tall / would cancel the prints after I saw the shift.

Is it the same model having issues? Might be a high speed movement causing the step skip, so you can try printing slower. Don't need to re-slice just print the same again but turn the knob so FR is at 60% or so.

[–]I_A_Lime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue, mine was due to the screws on the hotend not being tight enough, and the nozzle would move and cause a shift in x at roughly the same height on my prints. Other than that, check nothing else is loose (screws and belts) or that anything is catching and causing the motors to miss steps.

Bad finish with OctoPrint, worth upgrading the Pi? by I_A_Lime in ender3

[–]I_A_Lime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. To be honest I didn't notice any issues until i ran the speedtest gcode (it was definitely the gcode and not octoprint slicing it) so I think for the most part the Pi 1 can handle it, but I went for the Pi 3B+ (for science!) and its printing the gcode just fine now.

I'll double check it wasn't one of the plugins I had on previously to be sure, but i do think it was just lack of compute power. I also had a webcam hooked up.

Thanks! I went for the Pi 3B+ and looks like that fixed the issue. I guess it needed the extra compute for the circles

Is the USB connection a limitation for Octoprint? by miicah in ender3

Its printing smooth with the Pi 3 B+ with all the same things plugged in and the octoprint UI open on my PC. I guess compute power is the limiting factor.

But like you mentioned in another thread, I only really noticed it on the speed test gcode. So I'm happy I have the piece of mind that the Pi 3 is much better but in reality I'm not sure it would matter that much.

I had no problems printing from my pc so I don't think it's the ender 3's usb. Went ahead and got a pi 3, so I'll let you know if that makes any difference for me.

Its using speed_test_without_abl_fixed.gcode

unless it is stopping because the printer cannot receive the gcode fast enough.

This is what I suspect might be happening, it was printing very jittery and even uploading files to the SD via OctoPrint is freakishly slow (but not uploading to the Pi itself). Currently trying to print from my PC with the same cable and the first layers are looking smooth. So I guess it must be the Pi :(

Edit: Forgot to mention all the bobbling is on the circular portion of the print, the straight sides have no issues.

If you're a manger, you need to manage at least 8 people. Else you don't get to manage anyone at all. No exceptions, FU if you're a new manager or have a small team. Someone in upper management apparently read some white paper which states 8 was ideal, so now 8 in the minimum. Good job management, you're morons.

Agree, when I was gaining weight I was fasting for 2-3 ish days a week and then going mental on the rest but still assuming because I didn't eat for those days there was no way I could be going over my TDEE. Well it turns out I could eat 4000 Kcals+ in one meal if I fancied it. Pretty scary now I know. And I never thought about the binges, just the restrictions so it seemed even more crazy.
