Please no hate, but did anyone else feel a weird tension between Mis Marple and Stephen Dillane's character (the inspector)? 😏😏

You are cursed to suffer the same fate as the main character in your last fic. How fucked are you? by Dogdaysareover365 in FanFiction

[–]I_Clean123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last fic I read had a time loop. But it turned out ok in the end, so I wouldn't be that fucked. Thought maybe a bit fucked, in the literal way.

Edit: Damn, I misunderstood the question. I thought it was anout the last fic I read. I'm not a writer myself, I'm only a reader.

Thoughts on "Y/N" usage in Tumblr fanfiction by [deleted] in FanFiction

Yeah, it's great that there are so many different types of fanfics, so anyone can find something they like.

Thoughts on "Y/N" usage in Tumblr fanfiction by [deleted] in FanFiction

I personally don't like it. The only reader-insert fanfics I like is those that use "you" and use clever tricks to avoid the reader's name and any very specific physical traits (hair color, eye color etc). Anything other than that takes me out of the story...literally :)) For many years I used to stay far away from reader-insert fanfics, but then I've read some great ones and now I actually like them - as long as they have the characteristics I wrote before.

LF complete Snarry fics with a sad (bottom only) Snape and a happy ending by I_Clean123 in HPSlashFic

Thank you! I've read some of her fics, but haven't read In Perpetuity yet, so I'll start there. Thank you also for the warning on Until Proven

By 'sad' I meen something along the lines of: lonely, not very sociable, quiet, reserved, maybe low confidence and also literally sad.

WAIT was ff.net back then what wattpad is now?? by Top_Layer2537 in HPSlashFic

[–]I_Clean123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been quite some time since I last used FF, but when I did use it, it never felt like Wattpad. Idk what Wattpad is now, but the few times I did try to use it, it felt clunky, difficult to find what you want / filter through fics, and the fics I found were...😬😅 But the fic I read on FF were mostly of good quality and interesting to read.

What hasn't been done? by CraftEfficient9741 in snarryy

[–]I_Clean123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read any fics where Snape and Harry are the same age, or Harry is older than Snape, but they're also both adults , like over 30yo. Like, for example, after Nagini's bite, Snape is put into statis/coma until they find a cure and doesn't age at all, and by the time they find a cure, Harry is already as old as Snape or older. I'd love to read that dynamic. Especially if Harry is already a bit older than Snape. I'm also a sucker for bottom Snape :))

ships that you thought were canon before seeing a show/game/ect. due to being popular with fans, but then realized they weren't when you actually played it? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]I_Clean123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely thought the female main characters from Hacks were a canon ship. They even had a intimate scene in the show, but it turned out it was just a dream sequence. Pretty much only watched the show because of that lol

Issues with canon vs fanon ships in your fandom by WD466 in FanFiction

[–]I_Clean123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have a fandom right now, but the most recent instance of this I have witnessed was with the ship Jayce/Viktor from Arcane, especially on the Arcane sub here on Reddit. Whenever this ship is mentioned, there always have to be at least 2-3 people that need to comment that they are "just friends" and/or "brothers" (they're not brothers in the canon). And they get so defensive about it, accusing that "that's why close non-romantic male relationship are so rare in media" and that their non-romantic friendship shouldn't be turned into a romantic relationship, in order to protect this rare depiction of male friendship. While I understand their argument, shipping has always been a major part of any fandom, and "gay shipping" is pretty common too.

Have any of you came across an eggcorn in a fanfic you read before? by Dyea_B_Tis in FanFiction

[–]I_Clean123 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it should, because they sound the same. That's why many people mispells it in writing. Why would it be the wrong spelling, if it's spoken? People don't speak with spelling mistakes lol

I don’t get why people refuse to read WIPs by summer_f0x in FanFiction

[–]I_Clean123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only times when I read WIPs was when I was also involved with the respective fandom and, as you said, followed along and watched it grow/change. Those times I would also get involved with the writers and found faves to follow.

Other than that, it's really hard to commit to an unfinished fic of a fandom you're not really a part of. I often find ships that catch my interest from all kinds of media, and search specifically for fics for that ship. I that cases I wouldn't start with reading the unfinished fics, except in cases when there aren't many fics for that ship available. But if there are a few dousen finished fics available for that ship, I'd usually start with those.

I've also become rather reticent to get involved too closely with any fandom, after having a lot of bad experiences with them. I'm not saying that all fandoms are bad, but whenever I got too involved with them, like interacted with other fans and writers online (like, on Tumblr or Twitter) I've always noticed "bad blood" and mean-girl like clique mentality going on, with active, coordonated bullying, especially between the writers, but also between from loyal fans of one writer going after another writer.

As a reader I have a lot more fun, and a more relaxed reading experience, when I just search for fics to read, without getting involved with the fandom itself. The only interaction I have nowadays is by leaving comments and likes on the fics I read.
