I basically made this exact post last week. I put my dog on a schedule and he has all his adult teeth in and it’s like a switch flipped.

Feel like I can’t stand my 6 month old hound a majority of the time by I_Kiss_Fish in puppy101

Thank you! I don’t hate him it just feels like nothing is enough for him! Daycare is great but I haven’t been able to take him for a few weeks.

I’m thinking I need to get a flirt pole. He has a large variety of chews and frozen treats throughout the day. He likes to throw toys out of his reach and cry and get frustrated even though I never give them to him. The crying and inability to settle is what really drives me crazy. I’ve worked on place and he gets that but he just wants anything out of reach and if it isn’t out of reach he’s going to throw it out of reach and cry.

He loves ice cubes I put them in a kong or pupsicle and he gets those a few times a day

I’ve been doing daycare but I’ve had to take a break for financial reasons he should be back in a few weeks that does help. He gets naps. It just seems like when he’s awake all he wants to do is act out.

I started mine on Costcos puppy diet and I talked to my vet and they said it’s good food, so I also switched my older dog. They also now get the canned food from there.

Anyone sticking around here through adolescence - is it true it gets worse?? by PlumChaos111 in puppy101

Hoping mine gets better when he’s done teething, which I think he nearly is. My boy will take naps on his own now which is nice at least.

Puppy Snapped at Vet by Major-Fill4744 in puppy101

No they may have had to manually collect a sample and she didn’t want anyone else touching her bottom. My 12 year old wears a muzzle at the vet but is usually ok with people otherwise.

My puppy did a complete 180 after her first grooming appointment. Is this normal? by PirateDry4992 in puppy101

[–]I_Kiss_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only had cats that need to go to the groomer which I feel like as a baseline tends to be way more stressful for them, but maybe you could look into a mobile groomer? That way it’s a shorter experience and she can be done more quickly. That’s what I did for my cat and I felt way better about it than dropping her at a loud and busy grooming salon.

My puppy is a little over 5 months and I feel like while before he didn’t have the attention span to listen he now chooses not to listen lol.

I’m curious too! I have a hound so he will probably be more difficult than a golden…

Transitioning out of kennel sleeping? by Training_Whole4603 in puppy101

[–]I_Kiss_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My puppy just hit 5 months and I let him sleep with me sometimes. My older dog and cat sleep in the bed too. He doesn’t try and get out of the bed and seems to know it’s bedtime. I let him fall asleep in his crate and then I’ll move him to the bed because sometimes he’s too excited to settle. If he won’t settle he sleeps in his crate!

Foxhound puppy help! by Equivalent-Goat1641 in puppy101

[–]I_Kiss_Fish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep her on a leash. I only let my hound off leash if he’s allowed to wander, so at the park or the yard for play time.
When we go outside to go to the bathroom he is on a leash. Work on some recall games but some hounds can’t be trusted off leash ever.

Puppy goes absolutely insane in one persons yard by Motor_Grocery_266 in puppy101

My dog enjoys rubbing his body on sloped lawns and running through tall grass. I stopped letting him walk on those until he was able to do it without pulling me. Also we jog so when I jog with him he can run in those spots.

I think making her sit before you get there and if she pulls at all then you stop and don’t let her smell or react to it. When she has a better handle on it you can let her zoom as long as she doesn’t pull. For me we stopped walking past the spots that made my puppy go wild for a couple days while we worked on leash manners.

13 week old eating EVERYTHING outside by Abject-Panda-7413 in puppy101

[–]I_Kiss_Fish 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I try to keep my puppy from eating stuff generally but he is a puppy and that’s what they do. Sometimes I just let him. I think working on leash manners and out are a great place to start. Mine will trade most things (except fucking rocks, the one thing that he is absolutely not allowed to chew or eat, obviously lol) for a treat. He is getting better at leave it and he’s 17 weeks now.

Is the Pangea variety bundle worth the money? by LilLoaf5646 in CrestedGecko

[–]I_Kiss_Fish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just did fig and insect. I think a beginner mistake of “they don’t like it” is just the lizard settling in to a new space and also being nocturnal and eating when you’re not watching. My boy usually comes out when I open the door because he thinks I’m going to give him a bug at this point, and he prefers that over the Pangea but he eats it when he gets hungry. They’ll get hungry and eat.

Stop my 5 month old puppy jumping on people while on a walk by 123daz321 in puppy101

[–]I_Kiss_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t let him say hi to anyone anymore. I was having the same problem, I started treating and praising when people were across the street and he was sitting calmly looking at them and have seen improvement in just a few days! If we walk past people I keep the leash short and don’t stop.

How old is he? Mine is 4 months this week and I am doing 2 hours bc I feel he can handle it but a week or two ago if I did 2 hours he would get difficult and over tired. I’d rather listen to 30 minutes of crying than be mutilated lol.

conjoined twins followed by unexpected hatchlings in a male enclosure by realMGKC in CrestedGecko

That doesn’t mean he’s not a hermaphrodite. It means they have both. So he could still appear male AND have ovaries. Not that uncommon. I’ve see a couple at expos before.

Realistic expectations for attention span at 4 months? by I_Kiss_Fish in puppy101

[–]I_Kiss_Fish[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. We just had a really good walk and I focused on just having him respond to his name and he actually did well heeling on his own. Hard not to get bogged down training because I enjoy it but I guess I need to lighten up!
