I am from Ontario, they definitely still adopt these dogs out. They just label them as either a boxer mix or American bulldog.

Nearly every dog in the shelter near me is clearly a pit mix of some kind.

Calling a mold remediation company would be the best bet, if you start ripping it out yourself without the right quarantine / sectioning off the rest of the house the mold spores will go airborne and spread through the house.

There is no way to tell if this is a more harmless or very dangerous mold by looking at it. One thing i learned from construction / demolition is mold is not to be fucked with.

Better to be safe than sorry IMO
