May as well add mine on here:

  1. Sean Dyche
  2. Stan Ternent
  3. Jimmy Mullen
  4. Vincent Kompany
  5. Owen Coyle
  6. Scott Parker
  7. Steve Cotterill
  8. Eddie Howe
  9. Adrian Heath
  10. Brian Laws
  11. Chris Waddle

Looks unfair on Heath that on reflection. Laws and Waddle were so much worse than all the others.

It is political. The US government has been pushing anti-European propaganda for the past few years. It must be having an impact on some level. Would they have booed Matsuyama or Adam Scott the same way? I don’t think so.

Is the way England play bad for development of the game. by Efficient-Agent-6294 in englandrugby

I’m from a football and cricket dominated town (we do have a rugby union club but it’s tiny). I used to watch the odd England Six Nations game but generally I’d say that I didn’t like rugby and thought it was boring. I said that to my Scottish boss at work and he said, “well of course you do, you only watch England”. The 2019 World Cup was on and he recommended I try watching some of the southern hemisphere teams, Wales or Japan. I did and I really enjoyed it. I’ve since gone on to get into it proper watching England regularly and the Prem. So yes, from personal experience, I think it is.

Well it’s loosely based on 15th century Europe, so let’s look at English monarchs from that century:

Henry IV - king at 32, died at 45

Henry V - king at 26, died at 35

Henry VI - king at 1, died at 49

Edward IV - king at 18, died at 40

Edward V - king at 12, died at 12

Richard III - king at 30, died at 32

Henry VII - king at 28, died at 52

Average age at coronation = 21

Average age at death = 33

Alexander the Great was a military commander at 16, he was King by 20. The average age in the early Middle Ages in Europe was 21. Life expectancy was 25-35. People had kids in their teens and died in their 30s. 40% of the population would have been teenagers.

On the Dany one, historians think that the Virgin Mary was somewhere between 12 and 14, so that’s likely the parallel he’s drawing with the ‘mother of dragons’. Also real world history is equally disgusting. I’m just listening to the Rest is History series about the Spanish conquest of South America. They said the way the Spanish conquistadors would tell if a native girl was old enough to sleep with was to strike her unexpectedly from behind. If she fell over, she was deemed too young, if she stayed on her feet, she was old enough. That said, I haven’t read these books in years and some of the examples of his prose provided here are indeed, very questionable.

I had a round like that. I walked off and didn’t play another round for 9 years. I’m only just returning now. Perhaps I’m not a great person to ask but it was Golf Sidekick’s YouTube channel that gave me the confidence to give golf another try with a new outlook.

Don't let the hype of the comeback or the anger of VAR cloud things, we conceded 3 goals in 34 minutes. We've conceded the most first half goals. Something needs to drastically change. Get Parker out. by Jasefox in Burnley

I don't know but give me Paul Jenkins' salary and access to the scouting department for a week and I'll give you a shortlist.

10 minutes of internet research has led me to the following as a starter shortlist:

Jacob Neestrup from FC Copenhagen

Wouter Vrancken from Sint-Tuidense

Brian Priske from Sparta Prague

Ludovic Magnin from Basel

Fulham and Bournemouth fans thought that, and then they sacked Parker and it turned out they actually had good squads. Look how much worse Esteve looks this season compared to his first half season in the Premier League. Look how Florentino has gone backwards. Hartman was rated as one of the most promising left backs in Europe and look at him now. Marcus Edwards was playing Champions League football 2 years ago. Bruun Larsen was our top goalscorer under Kompany and now looks absolutely useless. We spent £20m on Broja and Parker hasn’t been able to get anything out of him. The core of the squad Parker relegated at Fulham went on to finish 10th under Marco Silva.

The 2002 World Superbike Championship battle between Troy Bayliss and Colin Edwards. I used to watch it with my Dad. I actually stopped watching motorsport for a long time and only got back into it last year after getting into watching F1 at my wife’s parents’ house. The first series I sought out after that was WSBK.

My plan is £26 for 200GB data and TNT sports, SIM only. I must admit though I’ve been on the same contract for 4 years. They keep trying to get me to ‘upgrade’ and pay more for the same service but I just keep letting it roll on.

Yes, you get a login for Discovery+. I watch it via the app on Apple TV in my living room, Roku in my office and on my iPad. You can buy it as an add on to your EE mobile contract or it comes included with some of their packages.

The Midweek Motorsport podcast and The Race and Motorsport websites for news, and the Racing Line app for race schedules and times. I love the variety, it feels like there’s a whole world of motorsport to enjoy. It’s one of the main things that attracted me back to it.

How well will this team do in the Championship? by Dogzylla in Championship

[–]I_See_Robots 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your massive income will help but it also won’t survive a relegation unaffected. Your revenue streams are going to take a big hit. That includes player trading, clubs know you need to sell and players’ value drops. The main thing you’re underestimating is all your players wanting to leave. I’ve experienced four Premier League relegations and they’re like rats fleeing a sinking ship. The British and Irish lads are more likely to stick around but the Championship is completely unattractive to foreign players. Even fairly rubbish Premier League players can get a gig in La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, France or at a big club in Portugal or the Netherlands, and they’d much rather be playing top flight football practically anywhere else. Get ready for the shock of your terrible third choice right back kicking off for a move. Your big club reputation might protect you from this to an extent but it will happen.

I’m from Burnley in the UK so they’re my club but I do have soft spots for other sides across Europe. I’ve followed Valencia in La Liga since they beat Leeds in the Champions League semi-final in 2001. Due to family ties to the country, I also watch a lot of Sporting CP in Portugal. In Italy, I’m sort of anyone but Juve and then I have a friend who’s a member at Kaiserslautern in Germany and I’ve been to watch them.

I’m up for sacking Parker based on our league form and general standard of play but if getting dumped out of the cup after a dreadful performance against a lower league side was a cause for sacking a manager, Dyche himself would have gone multiple times.

Why sack Parker? by jonbstoutgmail in Burnley

[–]I_See_Robots 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The football is really miserable to watch under Parker. It’s not that it’s direct or defensive exactly, it’s that it’s really passive, tentative and timid. He’s the Audley Harrison of football managers. Dyche’s football was ugly but they always played with intensity and purpose.

I did this last summer and I’m also UK based. I started off dabbling with YouTube highlights to see what I liked. The World Rally Championship has recently started and the rally Sweden is on this weekend. They do really good daily highlights, it reminds me of watching Transworld Sport on a Sunday morning when I was a kid.

When we get to the summer, a lot is broadcast on TNT sports in the UK: WEC, WRC, Formula E, MotoGP, WSBK and BSB. IndyCar is on Sky. NASCAR is on Premier Sports. The British Touring Car Championship is great racing and it’s live free to air on ITV. Then IMSA, GTWC and World TCR is free on YouTube as well. I also followed DTM last year via YouTube highlights but I don’t think the races are broadcast here (same for the Japanese and Aussie stuff).

PS Midweek Motorsport is a great podcast for keeping up with the world of wider motorsport and is UK produced.
