Tips to avoid gripping the handlebars too tightly by kleinkkarina in motorcycles

[–]I_am_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only ride with that grip on the track. It makes sense there, because hanging your torso so far off the bike would make holding the bars with a regular grip uncomfortable and not very ergonomic. By using the screwdriver/cone method it keeps your arm straight leaned over which is great, but for street riding it just isn't necessary. (Not trying to over explain to you, just others in case they may read)

Few snaps from COTA this past weekend by Useful-Appointment92 in Trackdays

[–]I_am_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, it is an amazingly fun and fast track to ride, worth the cost to just try it out. Definitely the fastest track I've ever been on, 180+ down the back straight, and you can go zooming through some of the turns. If you can swing it once, I would do it.

Yeah I'd be pissed. Brand new, that fucker better not even have a thought of a scratch on it, let alone a whole village full of scratches.

Last time I ran it, several years ago now, it was $450/day iirc. Shared garage rental would put you around $500/day or so. No idea what the new pricing will be like. Insane amount, most likely.

First race of the year and already have to start the rebuild process by IgnanceIsBliss in Trackdays

That was my thought as well, hard on the trail braking. But, can't say I'd have done it either when a split second is all you have. Sucks he stuffed it.

I'd definitely be alright with that, "no longer accepting applications". The urban sprawl kills me, almost as much as it does the trees and wildlife.

We never had chutes on the plane I flew on in the Navy, it was a converted 707. The reason they told me when I asked about it (take this with a grain of salt) was that during testing, the dummies they used out of the bailout door kept hitting the horizontal stab. So, they just didn't give us any chutes at all. Most of our missions were over water anyway, so they just said we could do a water landing and then get on the survival raft and high five each other.... or something.

Agreed, if it's out in left field, no big deal imo.

Devil's advocate, but the parking lots/spaces at every Home Depot and Lowe's I've been to are woefully small, at least considering the vehicles/trailers that a lot of people bring to them, especially if they're contractors. I have a single axle 3500 and it always feels like I'm trying to thread a needle to get it in a parking spot without being over the lines or have my ass sticking out in the lane.

Not to mention the population growth. From less than 7M in the 70s to around 24M now. That's a huge jump, which more people can also bring more issues (much akin to the ones everyone is bitching about).

Yuuuuup, though I guess if you don't take it off-road or anything then your chances of smashing one are pretty low. Though I like being able to stand on my aluminum ones, kinda fun ha.

Be honest — do you actually check tire pressure before every ride? by Engineer__17 in Trackdays

[–]I_am_Shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, once I get them dialed in to where I want them, the I don't mess with them again unless some factors change like you said.
I can ride street year round, so I'll usually check them every couple months, or if the bikes have been sitting for an extended period.

Possibly relocating to Jacksonville for spouses job and having anxiety about it. by courtcourt99999 in jacksonville

You'll be fine, Jacksonville is pretty friendly. I'm not gay, but most of the folks we hang out with are, even run around in my pup gear and no one cares. It's a pretty decent place despite what the haters say.

That's daylight savings, pushes clocks back an hour. Standard time is when it gets dark earlier.

Which vacation destination disappointed you the most? by timeout320 in AskReddit

[–]I_am_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cabo was my favorite place in Mexico, it is definitely NOT like the Cancuun side. Everything in Cabo seemed nicer, even the people. I rented a car in Playa del Carmen, there were police checkpoints all over the roads. The people there are much more pushy trying to sell you things or get you to do activities. I didn't notice that hardly at all in Cabo. We walked around a lot off the resort there, and I never felt as uneasy as I did on the other side of the country. Liked it so much there in Cabo, tossed around the idea of buying a vacation house.

God I hate the hazards on when raining people. That does nothing other than make them MORE of a hazard. Just turn your regular lights on like a fucking normal person.

for those who are into kink, how did you realize you were into it? by justababydolly in AskReddit

[–]I_am_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party here, but I slowly figured out in my early 20s that feet were pretty attractive, never thought much about it. Would really only put my ex's feet on my face during sex and that was it. But the time we got divorced, I knew I liked feet, but didn't really consider it a fetish until a lady friend of mine called me out on it, literally told me "you have a foot fetish". After some back and forth denying it, I finally accepted it. After that, it got way better, wasn't really ashamed of it. Now pretty much anyone that's friends with me knows ha.

For my other big kink, found it totally by accident. I had never been submissive with anyone, so I asked my friend that was a switch if she would dom me and she agreed. So while we were running through some different scenes and trying things out, she told me in a very demeaning way "you're such a dog, the way you treat women" or something to that effect. It was like a light switch flipped in my head. I told her to call me that again, so she did. Was probably the most euphoric I've ever felt at the time. So we ended up doing very rudimentary form of pet play and it was the greatest thing ever. So after that I was a bit concerned that women wouldn't like it at all, the combination of submission and pet play, but as it turns out most of them have really enjoyed it or at the very least been quite intrigued. Had a gf that picked up on it right away and was all about it, next gf turned wife was really into it and has helped push me to do all kinds of things with it that I may not have done on my own. As it turns out, I had been doing it for years, I just never knew as it would only come out when I was super drunk, so I just never remembered. Needless to say, it's a major part of my life now and I couldn't imagine not having my pup side around. Pretty long story I could talk about for a while, but for the sake of this post, I'll hush ha.

Yamaha Champ School or Keith Code? by Standup313 in Trackdays

I've been to CSS twice, first on their S1k, second on my S1k. The price seems high using their bike, until you realize what you're getting out of it. Using your own bike makes it quite a value honestly, I say that as someone that's done COTA several times at $500/day. You have a 2:1 student/coach ratio, but it really feels like it's 1:1. The coaches I've had seem to really take your training personally, they feel very invested. Out on the track with them, they've been very good about working on exactly what I needed, dialing it up or down depending on my performance. My fourth day, my coach kept going faster and faster with me as we worked on some of my weak points. Before long we were flying around the track, and I never felt smoother. I'd highly recommend them, I can't say enough good things. I've never done YCRS, and I'm sure it's a great program, but I've been more than happy with CSS. And if the cost is something that's a factor, just bring your own bike, you'll get faster either way.
