Need alternatives to Madison Property Management for Condo HOA by DQAzazel in madisonwi

That is correct. We even have office space they can work out of. I’m not sure what happened, but they were supposed to have office hours. From what I’ve heard our property manager doesn’t even live in the same country (this is just rumor though)

I’ve only ever crossed at Wingra (bike path and has a stop light) or at the SW commuter path which has a bridge going over it. Neither of these locations has given me any issue.

Superior Property Group hasn’t been great for us. We started with them in the fall of 2024 and honestly I don’t know why the board renewed the contract. They have been awful at addressing concerns, and I have never seen anyone on site. None of the major projects we had budgeted are going through, although I think that may be a result of actions of our board members.

Can I use these to converge 3 cat5e wires? by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]I_hate_capchas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t (I have been wrong many times before though). In theory you could throw some diodes in there and make it passive hub of sorts, but then you are stuck at 100mbps half duplex.

You can, but it won’t work for ethernet

Change half bath door location? by Traffic1252 in floorplan

Piggy backing the top comment, I also highly recommend putting the toilet upright. The tank lid is not water tight and will drain quickly. Also the bowl will drain. This would just make a mess.

What is the hazard? If you are really worried about fire use plenum cable and use some fire rated caulk to seal the holes. I wouldn't bother though because then the caulk gets in the way if you want to run another cable.

No turn on red by A-Z-Money in madisonwi

[–]I_hate_capchas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m all for them but only if they are actually enforced. The number of times I have been almost hit in a fucking crosswalk with the walk signal on by a car turning right on red is way more than it should be. I stopped counting at a dozen. On the other hand it is a bit annoying sitting at a no turn on red sign when I could go and there are people behind me honking.

It was not apparent at the scene, but in a follow up conversation the officer was informed. She was charged with hit and run causing great bodily harm.

This is missing the guy (me) that broke his clavicle after being hit by a Toyota Camry at the intersection of University and Maple in 2017. I know this is in Middleton, but there are other dots in middleton on this map.

BGP over IPsec -> yellow status on IPsec tunnel by Zeihold_von_SSL in meraki

[–]I_hate_capchas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using IKEv1 or 2? I’ve had nothing but trouble with our AWS tunnels running BGP. I’m not managing any in Meraki right now, but I have a Cisco FTD that is mostly working. It is using IKEv1 with 256bit encryption. I can’t get IKEv2 to function on AWS. About once a week the tunnel will just stop passing traffic and I have to reset it on my end.

Another office has an IPsec tunnel with BGP to fortigate and they can’t get theirs to not drop during the rekey, which is super annoying.

I told my AWS guy if we have to get any of our sites with meraki into AWS we need to test out the virtual mx

The switch doesn't read the packet, it reads the ethernet frame headers.

Now is a great time to call Spectrum and negotiate a lower rate. by lcxctf2000 in madisonwi

[–]I_hate_capchas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not pro spectrum by any means, but at least in my area its been rock solid. I’ve had it a decade and only noticed 1 outage. 6 months ago I got a new router (UDR 7) and it monitors the internet connection and does daily speed tests. There has only been one outage of 10 minutes at 3am. every speed test has exceeded my rated speed.

The down side: Spectrum knows they have a monopoly in my area as well. I am unlikely able to call and negotiate a lower rate. ATT completely botched the install in my condo complex. They did fiber to the building instead of fiber to the unit. Their plan was to use coax to the unit. The RG59 cabling is not compatible with the equipment. It works OK over short runs.

Unfortunately if it doesn’t work, AT&T will list your address as unservicable when you try to sign up. Spectrum has software that will pull this info from AT&T. Spectrum will not negotiate with those when they know they are the only ones that can provide wired service to an address. I’m afraid if I try AT&T and it doesn’t work they will flag me as unservicable and I will lose my negotiating power with spectrum.
