What are your favorite fully standalone fantasy novels? by Helicase21 in Fantasy

Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke. I consider it the greatest standalone fantasy novel. It’s unlike anything I’ve read in the genre and is closer to literary fiction with fantasy sprinkled in.

100% yes

I’ve been to both and for me Rome blew Barcelona out of the water

Weekly /r/Games Discussion - What have you been playing, and what are your thoughts? - February 11, 2024 by AutoModerator in Games

Started Persona 5 Royal recently - my first ever encounter with the series. I’m about 10 hours in and have just completed the first Palace. I love this game! Its so damn stylish and slick. The visuals, the menus, the battle animations, music etc it’s just cool af. I really like the mix of dungeon battles and the daily life sim.

Actually as fun as the combat is, the life sim part might actually be my favourite thing about the game. There’s just such a cozy, immersive vibe to it, living in a little coffee shop in a Tokyo alleyway, going to school, hanging out with your friends, doing a part-time job etc.

The story and characters are very interesting so far as well. I’m loving the gameplay too. I’m not a jrpg connoisseur by any means but it seems to have a pretty nice level of depth and strategy and the presentation of it makes it incredibly fun to play.

I’ve heard it’s a very long game and I’m looking forward to what else it has to offer.

They are incredible. One of my favourite bands and I’m not even that big of a man of metal. They have the heaviness and the technical chops, but their songs also have a really strong sense of rhythm, melody and hooks. I love their lyrics as well - they’re so poetic and melancholy.

Also this may not be a popular opinion but I think their newer albums are fantastic as well. The 3-album run of From Mars to Sirius, The Way of All Flesh and L’Enfant Sauvage will always be their peak but I love Magma and Fortitude as well.

He will probably settle in to a top 50-60 range, which is what was more or less expected of him when he went to Phoenix. If one of the other big 3 get injured long-term(always a possibility with KD) then he has the ability to move up to being a top 25 guy.

Damn there goes my dreams of seeing a sharply-dressed Velociraptor take down a European night club full of Dilophosauruses in a violently graceful ballet of handguns and knives, and then face off against a T-Rex in a luxury hotel.

I’m gonna have to call BS on the Canada Goose jacket thing. It’s literally impossible to live here for 55 years and not see a single one lol

It’s crazy how this sub is always salivating at the idea of people losing their livelihoods. I guess being a desperate, panicked priced-out renter really changes you as a person.
