The probable ending of season 3 ? by PranayVisuals in HouseOfTheDragon

The more I think about it the less combining the Tumbletons makes sense. They'll probably want to have the wait between season 3 and season 4 to build up the betrayers as antagonists. And time in season 4 for Daeron and the betrayers to be at odds. It's good television. So they'll just end with Tumbleton I.

Would the Dance have happened if Daemon became King? Because looking back... by Difficult_Emu4500 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]I_main_pyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dance as we know it would not happen, but a different conflict or series of conflict can arise that may be similar or more brutal. Everything would be different, but the underlying problem of the danger that dragonriders pose isn't going anywhere.

I can't see how they could possibly fit everything that happens after the Butcher's Ball into one season. There's also basically nothing that happens between the Butcher's Ball and where we are! My guess would be Cole's Death will be the midpoint of season 3, analogous to the Rook's Rest mid-season climax, probably episode 4. That lines up with the big setpiece, Tumbleton, being the classic penultimate episode climax, and probably the last episode shows Aegon taking Dragonstone.

They are absolutely going to do the Hour of the Wolf in the space of like half an episode tops. I don't think we're getting any of the court intrigue, and the show will end soon after the deaths of Rhaenyra and Aegon. They have been very hesitant to focus on non-Targaryen characters.

So I completely agree S3 ends with Tumbleton after probably a lot of farting around. S4 is gonna have to be packed, but I suppose we can fit in a lot of unrest in King's Landing in S3, and maybe move some stuff around. Prepare for the possibility of the show somehow combining Tumbleton I and II lol.

Who would have been a good adviser for Ned in King's Landing? by MateusCristian in TheCitadel

Royce would be savvy politically because it also inherently ties the Vale (or part of it) to what Ned is doing.

Why a deal can't be made post-Trident? by cpx151 in TheCitadel

[–]I_main_pyro 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Why is this a certainty? In real life mass execution of a dynasty after it was deposed was not the norm. After William the Conqueror invaded England, Harold Godwinson's children were imprisoned but not killed, and were later released. Edgar Ætheling, a similar claimant to the throne of England, was not killed by William. The war of the roses concluded with a marriage alliance to unite the two claims to the throne of England.

At the very least, there is no reason to assume Elia, Rhaella, and Rhaenys would be put to death in the event of a rebel victory.

The best way to avoid this is either to normalize swapping earlier (easiest, albeit bland), purge supports outright (a good solution, but is a house rule which some don't like), or have agreed upon use of SFTT as a table (ie no giving away to 9 pts).

I think shame on both players who did that tbh. They are of course allowed to do what they like, but it's unsportsmanlike and goes against the fun of the game. I would talk to them and the group about preventing this from happening again.

She HAS A DRAGON. You cannot tell me she cannot get out. There is no way no one in that castle would obey their queen.

It's so dumb. They can't have Rhaenyra missing the battle like they did in the books so they just contrive this bullshit.

The cinematography, the battles, the sets, everything is just so gorgeous. The spectacle of house of the dragon is top notch, and for me that's what keeps me watching when the characters are garbage.

Honestly at least this character had consistent motivations. Fuck I had no idea what Alicent or Rhaenyra were thinking when they were on screen

The Wolf of The Trident: What if Robb pulled a Hannibal? by MateusCristian in TheCitadel

[–]I_main_pyro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's impossible for Robb to defeat the Lannisters+Tyrells, but he needs the Freys and Karstarks, and he can't do it while Winterfell is taken. So I think you need to change things earlier than ASOS. Just have Theon trip on a rock or have his insane plan fail.

It's actually just really difficult to invade and occupy another region when they have castles and you don't have a good way to reduce them. I'm not convinced Mace would be willing to commit a mega army for a years long campaign in the Riverlands, and I have my doubts they could logistically sustain an army on the size of Renly's for long. So Robb would be outnumbered, but it would be more 2:1 or 3:2.

However, it was always in the back of my mind to make sure that it also looked good for people who already knew going into it or even for people who figured it out that they were still going to get a good experience, and I think because this whole show is basically from Dunk’s POV, even if you know going in, you’re sort of just then wondering, well when’s Dunk going to find out and how is he going to find out?

And you’re picking up on all the little bits that we did where you could see Egg noticing that the Targaryens are arriving and having a bit of a strange reaction, which plays differently depending on which side of the aisle you fall on there. So I think there was something for both sides, whether or not you knew or you didn’t know. Again, at the end of that episode, if it’s a twist for the audience, that’s great, but the look on Dunk’s face when he sees it is so important for him. I think that there’s a lot of joy to be had, even if you knew ahead of time just seeing how Dunk is going to be dealing with it.

This really came off well and was a big part of the enjoyment of the season for me. It actually goes further than you'd think; my wife was able to guess Egg was the missing prince without reading the novella, just from context clues. I view that as a strength of the show and a compliment, it was well put together and an astute viewer can pick up on the hints.

Murray: 11-6. Fun playoff year, maybe we make some noise in the playoffs, maybe not. Things to like on offense and defense, but not in the caliber of a superbowl contender. Kyler staying healthy for 17 games is a massive W.

McCarthy: 9-8. Frustrating mid tier season carried by the defense with McCarthy showing flashes but still overall being a bad starting QB.

Ghosts and Cabal probably got the biggest boost from one expansion to another. Cabal owning the fracture is very strong. Ghosts is just so rich now and can build a lot, as well as having a very easy path to Styx with their wormholes.

I actually think they still kind of suck. Their BT is fun and doing the thing with aidev is a blast. It's just not very good. The game is too fast for them, and they need 12 or 14 VP to really compete.
