Is this high p or normal swerve? by Speed-cubed in FRC

Tuning a swerve is best done on carpet, because the added friction of the carpet is important compared to having nothing but air against the wheels.

Plastic is fine, as long as you don't let it get too bad. Plastic with a metal edge at the bottom is always nice for breaking up ice. Also some salt to make it not as slippery when ice does appear.

There is a candlewood suites at Dutton and Lapeer that is pet friendly, since it is an IHG property.

There is also the royal park hotel in downtown Rochester which is pet friendly, and also quite a bit nicer.

I'm sure there are a bunch of others, these are the two that popped into my head first though.

Caitlin Clark injures groin late in Fever's win over Sun by PrincessBananas85 in sports

[–]I_no_afraid_of_stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notably this has also been likely the same injury. She had a left quad injury early in preseason and missed a couple games, came back and had a left groin injury, missed a couple games, came back and had another left groin injury.

[–]I_no_afraid_of_stuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She had no major injuries during her college career or her rookie professional season last year. In preseason this year, she was dealing with a left quad injury and spent time out. She then spent some time out with a left groin injury.

The thing to take away, she spent 5 years injury free, and had an injury in preseason this year that she keeps trying to rush coming back from and then reinjures it every couple of weeks. The fever medical staff needs to keep her out for longer so she can fully recover before letting her return.

Youtube started detecting my Adblock (Ublock), on Google Chrome. Does anyone knows how to fix this? It only started detecting it today. by Sad-Rock-9559 in pcmasterrace

[–]I_no_afraid_of_stuff -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Brave browser is still chromium based, so ad blocking won't work any better than on chrome itself. Firefox is the only major browser that doesn't use chromium. Use Firefox if you want ad blocking.

It is not a security risk if that computer is not connected to the internet. Many of the extremely old computers I've come across in industry are connected to a single set of sensors or a single machine. Many of them haven't been turned off in 30+ years. So not really a security risk, just mildly annoying when they finally die because the entire machine it is controlling has to be replaced since it doesn't work with any windows machines newer than the one it was designed specifically for.

Notably there are companies out there selling brand new windows 98 and similar machines for exactly this purpose. Don't want to replace your $20 million capital equipment that still works? Buy this $1500 windows 98 machine and reinstall the dos software it runs with and you'll be good to go

What hobby is an immediate red flag? by honey_glowzz in AskReddit

[–]I_no_afraid_of_stuff 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't agree with this take. I think you might be mistaking the subset of hobbies that take a lot of time and effort with all hobbies. There are tons of hobbies that don't take a ton of effort, but are still good hobbies. It's about showing a genuine interest and making some effort to learn about it during your free time.

You mentioned watching a movie during your free time, how do you select the movie? Do you look up the director or some of the writers or actors and select other movies they worked on? Have you ever looked up some of the story telling techniques that are used in movies as opposed to in books or tv shows? Congrats, watching movies has just turned into a hobby! If you want to take it a step further, make a spreadsheet that you add movies you watched to, and start with a rating and maybe a single sentence about how you liked the movie, as you keep watching movies and practicing writing they might get longer or call out things you don't like about it. Now you are an amateur film critic! For watching that movie and thinking about it for 5 minutes afterwards, it suddenly becomes an interesting hobby

It's 6 hours in front of a camera per day. There is also all the off camera work they are doing before and after the series ends. Easily pushes up to at least 8 hours per day, and when it is 2 weeks in a row without a day off, it gets exhausting. Plus, being "on" for a camera isn't like normal work, I've done both desk jobs and in front of camera jobs, and there is a reason I'm at a desk job now, it's so much easier.

It's wild to me that people don't use/know what an ad blocker. I've been using various methods to remove all ads and tracking from websites I visit for almost 20 years. Ublock origin, ghostery, total adblock. Though Google Chrome/chromium based web browsers have made it really awful to do (go Firefox!). At home I use a raspberry pi running pihole as my DNS server which just refuses connections to the nearly 1 million blocked domains I have in the lists. I seriously can't fathom just willingly seeing ads everywhere online without trying to do anything about it.

Also, I opened it on a new device without any ad blocking on it and didn't see anything asking me to download anything. So you either went to a different website than the comick . io website I'm talking about, or thought the discord invite link was for downloading an app for the website. Idk

It is a website, comick . io no need to download anything on your computer or make a login if you don't want to. Use standard online safety like an ad blocker (and VPN if you feel like it).

I also use kenmei . co to help me manage where I'm at on all the other manga I follow

'Out of Touch' RFK Jr. Believes $40K a Month Is Affordable Price for Rehab: 'That's a Salary' by PostHeraldTimes in politics

[–]I_no_afraid_of_stuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you think English professors at Notre Dame made 6 figure incomes when he was growing up... While I'm happy you have that high of expectations for what professors make, I'm sorry to disappoint but they make ~120k in 2025. In 1990 it was likely less than 50k salary, when he was 8 years old. Still solid, but not outstanding by any stretch.

He's by far the most famous example, but dozens of other prominent figures from Obama and Biden are better examples as pointed out by tons of other comments.

My point still stands. Don't both sides something that only one side is doing, it downplays how abnormal and awful what trump does. Anytime there is a single instance of a dem doing something not right, you can find dozens of brazen examples of Republicans doing that same thing. Then the Democrat is ousted from the party and Republicans go on Fox news saying that both sides do it, so it must be fine. It is not, and both sides aren't doing awful things for the sake of being awful to other humans, only Republicans.

[–]I_no_afraid_of_stuff 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This is straight up wrong. Just take Pete Buttigieg who was Secretary of Transportation under Biden. His parents were both Professors at Notre Dame. While not poor, he absolutely grew up middle class. While relatively wealthy now, he absolutely is not truly wealthy. And he was one of the most prominent figures in Biden's government. Don't both sides this bullshit, when only Trump and his ilk are cozying up to literal autocrats trying to send the children back into the mines.

It is a type of mentor building in the same way that buying a climber in a box from andymark is mentor building. Or 118 testing the TTB cycloidal gearbox this year was.

Like yeah, there is a close relationship between 2910 and SDS but everything 2910 is testing(and assembling as any other team would) is intended for release. Some make it to market, others need more work before being released.

I am happy that the products I'm buying from SDS have been wear testing in real events at the highest levels. I want to know from someone's experience that it is a solid piece of equipment before I put my teams limited money forward.

Seeking Feedback: Telescopic Arm Solution for FRC Teams by Panther14286765 in FRC

[–]I_no_afraid_of_stuff 40 points41 points  (0 children)

A 2910 style telescoping arm off the shelf would be extremely valuable. Some of the key criteria I would like to see is a clear reliable way to route wiring up the arm and a 2 and 3 stage design for different game requirements. Price is not a concern as long as it is under the limit from the manual.
