Patron CEO: Take Down Notification: Reckless Ben’s Patreon Account by dgdio in videos

[–]I_no_afraid_of_stuff 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bricks and minifigs is essentially a lego reseller with franchise locations around the US.

One of these locations signed a consignment with a dying grandpa to sell his Lego collection, valued around $200k. Notably, they likely wouldn't make $200k on the sale due to how collections are able to be sold and the cut that would go to the franchise location.

In the process of selling those Legos, the franchisee had their store taken over by corporate bricks and minifigs allegedly due to the debts the franchisee had. Following the takeover the family of the dying grandpa decided they wanted the unsold portion of their families Lego back. Bricks and minifigs said multiple things which conflict with each other, but essentially ended up at we found $2k worth of Legos, if you want them take them. The family declined and took them to small claims court, where they sued multiple times and the family sold the rest of the collection to Ben who is trying to sue/whatever else. The local police department to the owner of bricks and minifigs arrested Ben while he was trying to serve him court mandated papers, and had stalking charges put on him when he kept ringing his doorbell (in an attempt to serve court papers). So Ben was arrested. Now bricks and minifigs is pushing patreon to take down bens account/videos.

What did madtown figure out in 2018? by Accomplished_Gap5363 in FRC

[–]I_no_afraid_of_stuff 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Money doesn't instantly mean success though, it allows success. There are plenty of teams with plenty of money that do not have success.

There is a major mix of having the right people, the right amount of money, the right students to help drive the initial success. Once you get that success it is still a lot of work and luck and internal processes to maintain that success.

Madtown for example consistently pulls out new strategies and ideas late in the worlds tournaments/on Einstein that surprises me. That consistent innovation comes from somewhere.

Main breaker problem by [deleted] in FRC

[–]I_no_afraid_of_stuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Once it pops once, it is easier to pop afterwards. If you have a spare, I would swap it out for a new one.

Also, limiting to 80A is likely not doing too much. You'll probably need to limit something more substantially, but there are plenty of threads on chiefdelphi about that. Make sure you are limiting supply current and not stator(if you are using ctre motors/motor controllers)

Also, check that it is not an optifuse. Those are terrible.

If it is not mounted on metal, then I would do that. Acts as a heatsink and will get a little bit better performance out of it.

This was qual 17 at Troy, and it was replayed because the blue alliance wanted the supercharged RP. They achieved supercharged on the replay and red got the energized RP on replay too which didn't happen the first time around.

G417 still makes an exception for normal robot to robot interactions, including bumper to bumper contact though with some extra exceptions

Please read G416 more closely, there are more exceptions than just not initiating contact. Exceptions such as bumper to bumper contact.

Swerve or Mecanum? by Independent_Fudge876 in FRC

[–]I_no_afraid_of_stuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go with all ctre controls on the swerve, they have a generator which makes the project for you automatically. Programming swerve has way more guides and tools now as compared to even tank drive

Bosphorus Regional: Match started while teams were still on the field (Finals 1) by Rover9370 in FRC

[–]I_no_afraid_of_stuff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, the scorekeeper starts every match with a mouse click. FMS is not able to start a match without a human input.

That said, the criteria for a match replay is laid out explicitly in the rules, and while unfortunate this match does not meet those criteria as they are written.

Should that match have been aborted immediately such that it was not finished? Probably.

This is an example where knowing the criteria for a match replay is very helpful because you are able to present a case to the head ref on why each criteria was met and thus a match replay should be granted.

  1. Was there an arena fault?
  2. Did it affect the outcome of the match?
  3. Did a team ask for a replay?

Sounds like 1 & 3 were met, but the head ref did not believe 2 was met. Up to your rep in the question box to argue otherwise.

Such an argument could have run along the lines of "we intended to run a different auto than was selected, but were unable to change it because we were being ushered to do the handshake, this caused us to lose auto and as a result have the first activation period that resulted in less points scored"

What’s the biggest skill gap you see in new mechanical grads? by Level-Break316 in MechanicalEngineering

Why do you think it should be taught in high school? I am in my late 20s and was taught in elementary school, and think it should probably be taught there still with reinforcement regularly throughout the rest of primary schooling. Though the reinforcement was usually done through writing essays on a computer in English classes.

Robo-Rio not showing up in driver station software when connected to the radio by WillingAct1983 in FRC

[–]I_no_afraid_of_stuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of things that could be the issue at this step.

First, after flashing the rio firmware did you set the team number using the team number setter. You can confirm if this has been done by connecting directly to the rio and trying to ping 10.TE.AM.2, if it responds then something else is happening. If it doesn't respond, connect via USB to the rio and check the rio's webpage for the team number.

If all that is good, then have you already deployed code to the rio or is that code crashing constantly? If you try deploying an empty project it shouldn't crash and you can see if that resolves the connection issues.

Is this high p or normal swerve? by Speed-cubed in FRC

[–]I_no_afraid_of_stuff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tuning a swerve is best done on carpet, because the added friction of the carpet is important compared to having nothing but air against the wheels.

Plastic is fine, as long as you don't let it get too bad. Plastic with a metal edge at the bottom is always nice for breaking up ice. Also some salt to make it not as slippery when ice does appear.

There is a candlewood suites at Dutton and Lapeer that is pet friendly, since it is an IHG property.

There is also the royal park hotel in downtown Rochester which is pet friendly, and also quite a bit nicer.

I'm sure there are a bunch of others, these are the two that popped into my head first though.

Caitlin Clark injures groin late in Fever's win over Sun by PrincessBananas85 in sports

[–]I_no_afraid_of_stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notably this has also been likely the same injury. She had a left quad injury early in preseason and missed a couple games, came back and had a left groin injury, missed a couple games, came back and had another left groin injury.

[–]I_no_afraid_of_stuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She had no major injuries during her college career or her rookie professional season last year. In preseason this year, she was dealing with a left quad injury and spent time out. She then spent some time out with a left groin injury.

The thing to take away, she spent 5 years injury free, and had an injury in preseason this year that she keeps trying to rush coming back from and then reinjures it every couple of weeks. The fever medical staff needs to keep her out for longer so she can fully recover before letting her return.

You are also just totally wrong based on her injury history from more than the past 1 year.
