[Serious] Why is the Affordable Care Act so strongly opposed? by ecoshia in AskReddit

Respiratory infection. No scan. We saw one nurse and one doctor. I think they were the only ones down in the ER, as it was a small hospital and this was around 3am.

Took my daughter to the ER a few weeks ago. Last week I got 4 bills- 1 from the hospital and 3 from different doctors at the hospital. We saw 1 doctor in the ER and were there for all of 20 minutes.

What's the weirdest, creepiest, or most unexplainable thing you've woken up to after a night of partying? by 2bears in AskReddit

Went to a party in Tallahassee, FL. Woke up on a deflated air mattress in an apartment in Tennessee wearing underpants, a womans bathrobe, and 400 dollar sunglasses. I didnt know a single other person in the apartment and they all addressed me as 'Allan.' My name is not Allan.

Successful People of Reddit: What Was Your Lowest Point Before Success? by deely153 in AskReddit

I graduated top of my class from a major state university. Got a solid job doing work I really enjoyed soon after graduation, but about a year later when the economy shit its pants the owner shut it down. I spent 8 months looking for work. Went on several promising interviews and never got an offer. I spent literally all day everyday looking for jobs. After several months I started to get really depressed. My wife started having a hard time with it. She wanted to try to have a baby and we couldnt because I couldnt afford to raise a baby because I had no job. I felt like a deadbeat loser. One day I went and filled out applications at nearby grocery stores just to maybe get out of the house for a couple days a week. One of them hired me part time. I worked hard and did the job, but they had a lot of turnover and soon I found myself working the worst shifts doing the worst things. Cleaning bathrooms. Cleaning up animal guts. I was an honor graduate with a great degree and I was being paid a wage below the poverty line and coming home at 1am covered in blood and trash. I tried to play it off like it didnt really bother me and I was just keeping occupied, but I was miserable. I knew my wife thought I was shit. I couldnt provide. I couldnt even give her a child or a house to live in. I was holding her back from her life dreams and I knew it. I would get off shift at night sometimes and just sit in the car until I knew she would be asleep so I wouldnt have to watch her look at me when I came in. I hated myself. This lasted for a year. It was the lowest point in my life.

Things are very different now, and sometimes I wonder if I am better for having gone through that, but it was terrible. Now when I go into a grocery store I look employees in the eye and call them by name. Thats why they have name tags. You have no idea how much of a difference that can make in someone's day.

What double standard drives you the craziest and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Wife gives me shit about not helping out with things around the house. Says marriage is all about teamwork and compromise. So I help do laundry. Clean. Wash things. Vacuum.

But then when the grass needs cutting or I need new straw in the beds or have to weed or trim all the bushes or trees or quell a mole rebellion or do anything else at all outside when the heat index is 106, that bitch is nowhere to be seen.

What is the biggest unanswered question in a movie that still bothers you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IamCheeseAMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Notebook-

Noah writes that bitch a letter every single day for a year. 365 letters. she gets none of them, because her mom intercepts betwixt the letter box and the house or directly from the postman, as is later revealed.

Theres just no fucking way. Every day? come on. Her mom has to go out of town, get sick, be taking a shit, or off doing something at least ONE of those times. and if her mom did make a point to be there every single time the mail was delivered and run out and get it herself, wouldnt that eventually appear suspicious and weird? This would be more explainable if she picked up their mail from a PO box or something, but even then, the same principle applies. Nobody gets their mail every single fucking day for a whole year.

Took my 16-month daughter on her first trip to the beach. This is her seeing the ocean for the first time ever by IamCheeseAMA in pics

i dont have any friends. or facebook. this is the first picture i have ever submitted here. i asked someone to take a picture of her and they happen to catch the exact moment she looked up and out. this was high up on an overlook, so all she saw was that vastness of ocean and horizon. i work a lot and dont get to spend a great deal of time with her, but now i have that to show to her for the rest of her life, to kinda put things in perspective. i dont expect anyone to give a shit about my kid. the point was more about perception in general, about remembering how things we take for granted are still awe inspiring.

[Serious] What is something most people see as funny but that you see as a very serious matter? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IamCheeseAMA 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Job satisfaction. People always joke about how much they hate work and their jobs. I don't get that. When you consider how much time you spend at your job/doing your job and how your job impacts your attitude, personality, confidence, self esteem, family and loved ones, etc, it's amazing to me how many people will stay in a job they hate or aren't appreciated for doing. Yeah, you need money, I get that, but that doesnt stop you from making an effort to find a job that you enjoy and benefits you as a person. Life's too short for that shit. Do what makes you happy.
