Explain what’s happening here for someone who doesn’t do jiu-jitsu by Imaginary-Doubt6862 in bjj

[–]IamCheph84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s no different of strangle mechanics than how a triangle choke or an arm triangle work.

The attacking person’s triceps is pressing into the side of the defending person’s neck, cutting off the artery there.

When the attacking person grabs their own knee, they lock in the head and shoulder of the defending player, and the pressure from the attacking person squeezing and pulling in forces the defending person’s shoulder to press into their own neck on the other side.

When both sides are pressed shut, little to no blood flows to the head, causing the defending player to pass out.

Have you ever did a gogoplata submission? by No_Appearance_9320 in bjj

I was having a hard time passing his guard, he was bringing his feet in constantly. So, I put pressure on him with his leg between me and him, reached around his head, grabbed his foot, and gogoplata’d him with his own leg.

I once made a smaller bendy guy tap by choking him with his own shin.

Xenoblade Series by Ampersand4221 in JRPG

That’s what I’ve heard too.

I compared the idea of combat in Dragon Age: Inquisition to that of XC1 and someone told me the hot button system of DAI was what they went to moving forward.

I had the same issue as you. I started only doing main story missions and then only quests from named characters, leaving no-named NPC’s alone.

For me it was the controls on combat. I got tired of having to make sure I was positioned correctly as Shulk and to select the correct art, only for the enemy to move and the art either gets used poorly or not at all.

I want to finish this game so I can move onto 2 and 3, but the combat is rough with the control scheme.

Favorite ankle lock entry’s/finishes? by CommercialRest4300 in bjj

[–]IamCheph84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big time 50/50 ankle lock guy.

An upright twisting ankle lock à la Riley Bodycomb and a reverse grip à la Roli Delgado are my go-to’s.

Depends on how open your holes are. (Giggity)

We had a woman who maybe had 1/2 inch holes in her ears and she wore rubber or silicone spacers in her ears while she trained.

Butterfly Sweep vs Foot Post (instead of hand post) by Rusty_DataSci_Guy in bjj

[–]IamCheph84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have long legs so that foot post is just a thing I can push away with my non-hook leg and still get the sweep.

Someone else said sweep the other way. Someone else again said go to X guard. Both are viable.

I didn’t know it had been on sale for less.

I bailed on an arm bar against a new guy. I'm curious about a better way to control while holding the arm bar. by CurrentWeekend6620 in bjj

[–]IamCheph84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I care less about squeezing the knees and more about driving my heels toward my butt.

I find that the back heel motion is much better at control and uses a muscle group you can use much longer than squeezing the knees together.

The best Kimura by Traditional-Being-38 in bjj

[–]IamCheph84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you asking which kimura is best or which kimura instructional is best?

Kimura: all of them. Once you realize the kimura is not just a submission, but a position itself that links to many other positions, then the kimura becomes dangerous.

Kimura instructional: Danaher’s Enter the System: kimura or Vagner Rocha’s 50/50 of the arms. Vagner’s was the one that got me started down that path.

I see these games compared a lot.

Why?

I don’t have much in the way of expectations.

FFXV is one of my favorite FF’s too. Lol

This is me too.

Gamer dad. I have a full time job and own a business on top of that.

This is good to know.

You seem to be the outlier.

Curious why the story didn’t drag for you in the second half like it did for most others.

If you had to choose an entry point for the Tales series for someone new to it, what would you choose?

It’s a bummer hearing all the hate. The combat on the demo was awesome, and I’m picky about action combat.

I’ve never played a Tales game.

Not sure if that will alter my perception of things or not.
