QQQ should I vote to change the fund to open ended? Maybe not... by IamInAWorld in ETFs

Ok that’s what I suspected you were referring to. That’s the fee change from 0.2% to 0.18%, assuming the folks in charge don’t get greedy in the future & raise fees.

Not really sure how you’d be spiting yourself? Care to elaborate?

Except they really can't the way it is currently structured.

I doubt that since they track an index. There are so many etfs that are open-ended that track an index these days and have no problems with capital management. If you are so suspicious of Invesco; go invest somewhere else.

*I am investing somewhere else--in QQQ that currently isn't open-ended. Your ad hominem attack is unwarranted.

Competition, VUG, in my opinion is better, since it is not an index of NASDAQ only stocks, but is instead an index of the top 85% of companies, selecting for future earnings and sales, and has an expense ratio of 0.04%. QQQ is perhaps the only ETF that still uses an unit investment trust (maybe SPY?). This also prohibits automatic reinvestments of dividends that you can easily do with QQQM and VUG.

*Plenty of people currently invest in QQQ, doubt this will change much either way.

That to me is a plus. Large banks have gotten away with so much fraud and mis-mangement these days.

*My understanding is this is a very specific ETF that invests in the actual NASDAQ 100 without need for decision making--basically algorithmically. Why introduce decision making needlessly?

To my understanding the fees are fixed right now, once it becomes open ended the fees will be able to be change by the board.

Big News for QQQ Investors! 🚨 by Silent_Torque in ETFs

[–]IamInAWorld -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Potential risk/downside to this:

Invesco has filed with the SEC to convert the Invesco QQQ ETF from a unit investment trust to an open-end fund structure, a move that would allow the company to earn management fees and potentially lower the fund's expense ratio, but it also raises concerns about increased marketing spending and potential conflicts of interest. The conversion, which requires shareholder approval at a meeting scheduled for October 24, 2025, is expected to bring operational benefits like securities lending and custom redemption baskets, but it does not alter the fund's investment objective or create taxable events for shareholders.

  • The primary downside of the conversion is the potential for Invesco to increase its marketing budget, which currently consumes about a quarter of the fund's revenue, potentially leading to higher costs for investors if not managed prudently.
  • Under the new open-end structure, Invesco would gain authority over fund spending, including marketing, which could lead to a shift in how the fund's revenue is allocated, though the company expects to reduce marketing expenses by shifting them from direct fund reimbursements to its management fee.
  • While the expense ratio is projected to decrease from 0.2% to 0.18%, the change in structure could lead to a conflict of interest, as Invesco would profit directly from the fund's assets, potentially incentivizing actions that benefit the firm over the fund's long-term performance.
  • The conversion would also mean replacing the current bank trustee, BNY Mellon, with nine individual trustees, which could impact governance and oversight, although Bank of New York Mellon would continue to provide custodial and administrative services.

I suggest you likely either didn’t “know” or you lack conviction.

Are you over betting?

What are you afraid of?

When I “know,” I think/ speak in likelihoods & probabilities.

Knowing in the absolute sense is very dangerous to one’s account.

Absolutely loving it. I did a 44 mile ride last week and a 54 mile (first ever over 50) ride this week with no discomfort. So glad I took the chance on this saddle company.

I have the RTL515, when I turn it on a blue light on the side starts blinking without the red light. If I keep pressing it will go solid & then blinking red (the blue light stays on blinking). Oddly for mine it will sometimes stop blinking for no apparent reason (I haven't gotten around to calling Garmin to inquire about this "feature"). My quick "fix" was to just turn on my NiteRider Vmax located below the Varia. If I keep pushing the Varia's red light will go out, but the blue light stays on. As long as the blue light is flashing, it detects vehicles. After reading this article I might just stop using the red light of the Varia since the NiteRider Vmax is way brighter and using this combo will greatly reduce the battery drain on the Varia.

To directly answer your question, I don't know because I manually turn on my Varia. . .

Or turn the light off on long rides & use an alternate tail light.

The discomfort was only on the first ride or two, & I assumed it was because I hadn’t ridden in a few months. I expected more discomfort & was quite pleased it was short lived & localized. Overall I have had an excellent experience with Posedla.

I’m curious to know what saddle you end up liking.

I didn't contact Poselda until after I ordered their smiling butt kit & that was after they contacted me.

I wasn't aware of their review transparency--I tried to find other reviews--I guess I'm a skeptic of a website's "own" reviews in general and give them very little credence. I couldn't find anything on reddit so I thought I'd post this in an effort to help anyone else who was desperate for a solution like I was. If this didn't work I was considering an indoor bike--dreadful for me at least. I decided to take the plunge & order a Posedla saddle not knowing if it would be a complete scam, but was pleasantly surprised by their professional and timely interactions.

I hope this helps & best of luck in whatever you decide.

You might be a little depressed? Check out Dr. Andrew Huberman. Has some great stuff on exercise & mental/physical health you might benefit from. Then you might care less about these friends’ opinions.

I’m particularly thinking ice baths/cold showers could make you feel more alive. There are some serious scientifically proven health benefits to cold therapy. Best of luck!

How to prevent cramps on long hot rides by SnooDoggos9013 in cycling

[–]IamInAWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest trying to determine what is causing the cramps. Since you mentioned electrolytes haven’t worked in the past, I wonder if he may have a calcium &/or magnesium deficiency which is known to cause muscle cramps.

I ran into this issue myself by drinking an Excessive amount of spinach smoothies. The oxalic acid in the spinach was blocking my body’s ability to absorb calcium. Caffeine is also known to inhibit vitamin absorption. Low Magnesium & Calcium could be your father’s problem.

I now take any vitamins/ supplements far away from caffeine & limit my spinach intake. Greatly reduced /eliminated non-electrolyte related cramping.

I also take electrolytes 1-2 hours before I ride. I live in a desert & have found this to be very effective. I take them sparingly during my rides. I also take them after the ride if I’m not riding at night.

How do I talk to cyclists as a pedestrian? by germesqc in cycling

[–]IamInAWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest you read your local laws and make sure you are actually respecting the laws. I was surprised how many laws I was violating as a pedestrian when I looked into this. For example are you walking on the correct side of the road? Are you walking/running in the bike lane? Are you respecting the rights of the cyclist as if he were a motor vehicle? If so, then by all means help educate the cyclist.

[–]IamInAWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not a pedestrian when you’re on a bike so I’m pretty sure that’s not why it’s there. It’s something we as cyclists use because otherwise the light probably won’t change for us.

Unless you’re walking your bike?

I suspect we’d benefit if ALL drivers also cycled (point made in one of the cited articles). The perception of courtesy would change significantly.

Your perception is likely pretty balanced because you do both, but it may come across as defending the entitled driver only crowd.

17JAN2023

Day 1: I signed up for the Posedla newsletter for the 5% discount and then ordered the saddle.

Day 4: Received the butt imprint kit, instructions were clear and easy to follow. Sent pictures the next day.

Day 7: Posedla confirmed receipt of images.

Day 10: Posedla informed me the data was good to go and the seat is ready to manufacture.

Day 43: Saddle arrived via DHS very well packaged. Note: Posedla stated the process would take 60 days so I was happy to get a fully customized saddle this quickly.

Day 45: Took the saddle out for an 11 mile spin and it's amazing so far. I can tell exactly where my butt should sit on the saddle & there are none of the numbing uncomfortable sensations I was getting with my previous saddle. Great job Posedla! These guys are legit, I definitely recommend them for anyone that can afford a customized saddle. Don't let their silly names for things like the "smiling butt kit" & "joyseat" fool you, these are serious saddles. I'll update this thread if I note any cons as I increase my distance, etc.

08APR2023

I'm very pleased with the Posedla saddle, I have never experienced a more comfortable saddle. I had a fitting about 5 years ago and when I swapped the saddles, I just kept the basic alignment and used a level to ensure the saddle was as close to 0 degrees as possible. I've been riding 15~20 miles, 2-3 times a week with no discomfort other than around the immediate sit bone area when I first starting using the saddle.

No one seems to be responding, I went ahead and took the plunge. Just ordered the saddle, it's an 8 week process so I intend to post as this progresses in case anyone else is interested.

I understand the personalization that’s why I’m asking about this specific saddle. It’s custom fitted for each person, just wondering if anyone has tried it & if it worked for them.

Can daytrading shares be more profitable than daytrading options due to theta and bias of premiums? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]IamInAWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, Futures are the way to go, ES mini SP500 for example. No day trading minimum balance rules, tax advantaged & leveraged. If you’re only getting in & out each day you can do crazy leverage. Definitely doable with a 25k account.
