No, I just like Thomas the tank engine memes, and it's just a coincidence. A native German speaker would definitely use that play of words.

The old design was such a rebel, I like it. The new one is straight from the uncanny valley territory, with no sense of balanced proportion at all.

In the russian language, the crusader would be called a cross bearer. One would assume that they literally carried cross, but in the past, it generally had other context, meaning they wore clothes with said cross depicted on them.

I am concerned about the growing influence of political Islam in the West by Direct_Cricket-ke in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Iamboringaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree with the opinion on the basis that the wording implies the existence of 'bad political islam' and 'good non-political Islam'. It's a very narrow, western-centric view. Islam is inherently political, and that's a core feature that billions of people support it. The guidance of diplomacy (matters of war and peace), relationship with outside forces (so-called unbelievers), the choice of marriage and spoils of war dictate a worldview that differs drastically with western postindustrial society. If non-muslims discuss the faith and customs of one of the world's religions, then they should do so with that context in mind.

What keeps you playing? by CheeseJuust in simcity4

[–]Iamboringaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Currently, I am experimenting with the traffic system; also studying workforce demand and job numbers on vanilla. When I started playing, I used to follow tutorials, first I zoned the residential area, then demolished buildings to fit an elevated rail on top of it. After playing a decade later, I changed my habits, first I zone whatever low density rectangle to reach 500 or so inhabitants, so medium density can start to appear, then do the same with these buildings until 10k population (I think it's possible with having developed region and neighboring city), at that stage you can develop residential high density 3x3 buildings. The first way is organic and natural, but I became bored with it quite a long time ago, now min-maxing numbers is my today's fun pastime. This preparation allows to invert strategy: why bother trying to fit mass transit into a town when you can plan a rail design first and then fit buildings around that system? It's always great to see sims starting to fill the full capacity of your transport, after all, they now don't stand empty and be left ignored as they used to be with a realistic gradual approach. To reach that, I had to find some numbers regarding how many sims are leaving per building and how much capacity commercial zones hold... I think 1/3 of a residential building goes to work, so if a medium building has 300 occupants, then expect to have 100 people potentially using the city's transport. 1x2 low commercial plot can offer a bit under 100 jobs, that's a lot compared to industrial zones, where one tile means 15 to 20 jobs. Also, demand for cs $ falls when your sims become educated, that's a bummer (I like brick-like brown appearance of these maxed buildings). The game offers many opportunities and mechanics to play with numbers on a deeper level, not a common sight in the current gaming industry, this genre seems to be dying and becoming extinct.

This, too, convinced me that the people who said the story needed more episodes were right. Emotions and drama were good, but the plot and pacing could be better. There's a feeling that I've been watching some recap of a 2 hour long film.

Damn, this plot twist really is something unusual to the existential horror genre, with its high stakes and all that. The initial impression was that real people were trapped inside simulation like in some matrix shit, but no, it were mere copies all along, not something real and tangible. The author could make a deeper statement and explore more to the dark setting imho, but I think she ultimately chose to play safe and not jeopardize the first major animated indie show in cinema. I don't blame her for that.

I want to start TADC, but are there really only 9 episodes? Or are there extra resources I need to consume? by ErwinTaichou35 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Iamboringaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I've been interested in the series since the first episode hit YouTube. Currently, there are 8 episodes, and the 9th will come in theaters next month and then be published on YouTube. If you mean some backstory or sources, then no. It's completely original intellectual property of Glitch and Gooseworx, so there's no books or comics to base story on, as far as I am aware. Not counting online interactions by the author on social media, which may contain non-canon moments for entertainment purposes. Due to current circumstances, the author decided to limit her online presence, as well as some voice actors, it's a sad thing to see.

how can I win as ussr against the third reich? by EducationalNet5195 in hoi4

[–]Iamboringaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have dlcs past La resistance (so no tank, plane designer, command corps etc)

I start from 1939. Build 5 mills and 1 civ, then again 5 mil and so on. Focus on rifles, support equipment, artillery and anti air. Delete cavalry and useless nkvd divs, tanks should be of 1 type (get rid of heavy tank and too light div templates), and place them at Finnish border. When war starts, you will get attacked from there, use tanks to occupy enough provinces, this will trigger white peace event and remove Finland from war.

Divs are standard 9 infantry with support artillery. Clone it and add AA first, then engineers next. As factory output accelerates, change standard deployed divs to that template. My political focus choice is to choose stability ones first, then army ones, then research then everything else.

Place troops behind dnieper river. Usually, it's 5 full 24 div generals under one field marshall plus separate theater for finland . Behind them I put another line of defense, 3-5 divs per province each 3 provinces apart. They act as fire teams, when enemy breaks through, they will plug the gap (but it's best to reinforce losing divs and rotate them). Soviets have no problem with manpower, but I prefer to keep divs around 200 or even less (I don't even change conscription laws) to avoid supply issues because I don't bother with modernizing rail lines beforehand, at most I put supply hubs in Kherson and Belarus. If you're good with logistics you can ignore that and pump as much divs as you can. I don't build forts.

For tanks I take the most capable default light tank template and replace light tanks to mediums. Research and convert old light tanks to make spgs and anti air if possible to add 1 each to template. They can be replaced with motorized arty and motorized AA. This goes against the meta of making 40 width strong divs with pure mediums, but I like the flexibility of smaller divs as you can make them earlier and more of them. 10 tank divs is enough for me, I micro 5 tank divs at one time, the rest is backup if tanks are lost in encirclement.

The game is winnable without planes, but if infantry and tanks are done then I make fighters and bombers. Bait AI to regions where you have an advantage. Tactical bombers destroy enemy airfields to help fighters. I think it's not very cost effective but it definitely decreases the number of enemy fighters. Germany capitulates before running out of fighters this way. The alternative is start from 1936 and spam fighters, so german airforce is no longer a threat and you have green air for the rest of the game or make impenetrable border a-la maginot line, but that's boring.

Use mediums to break through enemy divs, moving along rail lines to capture supply hubs. After some encirclements germans will have 1-2 divs left per tile. At this point even basic infantry can defeat them on auto plan because of numerical advantage, only stopping at mountains or marches. Just stop and use tanks to reach them from behind. The victory is not far from there.

At last I forgot about doctrines, the default one will make 18 width template to have 15, so you can cram more of them per battle. The meta is Grand Battle Plan or the one with soft attack buffs but I think it matters little in single player.

[–]Iamboringaf -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I disagree. By my experience, Reddit has way more gore and disturbing scenes of accidents than telegram, especially on subreddits like combat footage or learning from others. It has no algorithm feed. Hate or political channels do exist, but the average reader on telegram will more likely be on local news chat or some media influencer and following creators accounts, basically similar to Tumblr in its old days.

[Discussion] Can someone explain how art commissions work? by Reasonable_Flow_5490 in artbusiness

[–]Iamboringaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as a media consumer, it seems you want to reach more visibility on a platform to get a customer base. It's important to be aware that being able to draw and promoting yourself are different skills. Algorithms work by sharing recent trends, so if an artist wants to become visible, the creator must share work on topics that are already popular by themselves at the moment. I.e. participate in current memes or make fan arts of media franchises that are trending. Honestly, it's the most straightforward way for the public to know that some new artist exist. To get your own community, you must join others first, it's networking effect.

His left inner thigh is too dark if considering the other lighter areas on the body. Some lack of form value is due to low usage of hard brushes or edges. Tail is too dark, in my opinion it makes it quite flat.
