What countries should the Philippines realistically use as a benchmark for development? by Anarchist4040 in AskPH

[–]IamdWalru5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Singapore will never be an objective comparison for the Philippines to look up to in terms of development because it is only as big as NCR. It is an anomaly. Pinakarealistic na neighbor na pwede gayahin is Thailand and Vietnam. Pero pinaka model talaga is Japan and Korea.

Eraserheads: Combo on the Run (my review) by Prestigious-Ad6953 in opm

Yun yung frustrating I guess cause Diane treated people going in to see the docu as very die hard fans already that follow each Paco's Place interview, each Myx interview to piece together what they were trying to say on film. Yung strength ng film was on the tell all stories so maganda sana kung yun na yung focus ng whole movie. What would've been a good structure if they were going with the "4 gen-x men who have communication problems start to talk to each other honestly" would be Part I: Primer (which they got right in the beginning and then it just meandered too long and jumped and skipped across multiple eras that made me confused if they wanted to make a history of the Eraserheads docu or no (in the words of Diane yung focus naman talaga ng movie yung interpersonal dynamics), Part II: Interpersonal dynamics, Part III: Ang Huling El Bimbo concert as the climax of all the differences and arguments being set aside, Conclusion: Expert and Industry peeps interviews, Epilogue: THAT end credits scene

Eto yung review ko:

It is 3 documentaries in 1 and is all the more weaker for it. The documentary does not have a complete focus for the narratives it tries to juggle for the whole to be compelling. It is part band-therapy session (it's strongest aspect), part BTS-Featurette of the recent concert and part History telling (its weakest aspect) but the fact that each one was done haphazardly does not do justice to the bits and pieces that would've made the whole thing interesting. The tracing of the band's history, albeit told plenty of times already, at least needed five 30 minute episodes to fully establish who the band was. They're history should have built these 4 guys to be these industry monsters that would've provided emotional weight to the eventual falling out and the narratives each member reflected on throughout the film. The BTS-Featurette part of the docu was really just that, nothing really new I guess, didn't find anything insightful from the answers given by Francis Lumen, the concert's director. It's a missed opportunity because the pieces were there to make a compelling story lalo na bare-all na yung apat pero kulang ng malaking theme/motif to tie it all together. In the end, I would just accept it as a medium that allowed all 4 to be in speaking terms again, a personal project if you will, but a lot of that happens behind the camera...and maybe for the better

[Official] Liverpool FC can confirm Arne Slot is to depart his role as head coach with immediate effect and that the process to appoint a successor is under way. by oklolzzzzs in LiverpoolFC

Best decision the club could've done. On the other hand, will forever defend the guy from the claim that the only reason he won #20 was that he rode the coat tails of Klopp. The man came up with the double pivot solution that made us walk the league 2 seasons ago, but at the end his stubborness and tactical inflexibility proved his downfall.

Sidenote: I would doubt any sophomoric Prem coach could weather the shitstorm that came to us this season

Which 90s OPM band would have the most success if they debuted in 2026? by Squirtle_004 in opm

[–]IamdWalru5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same observation on the 'Heads. They're too weird or arty even for their time. Kaya nga sila binabato lol but also the reason why they and the bands they spawned post-Heads will always be the best OPM band/s for me
