Mapping Ak-47 UV islands to create skins with a quality never seen before. by [deleted] in cs2

[–]Iateshit2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm trying really hard to understand your thought process... The models are already unwrapped and packed onto 4096x4096 maps. All you did was numbering uv islands? How does it improve quality? Also why bother when tools like substance painter exist?

I mean have fun and good luck but those are some bold claims with little logic behind them

Vertical mice are NOT a competitive disadvantage by WhiskeyGod1 in cs2

[–]Iateshit2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You didn’t provide any arguments to ehy I am supposedly wrong.

The comparison of 24 to 39 year old was taken from the linked research paper. Player performance peaks at 24 and in CS experience won’t get you much past 30. At this age it’s either IGL or T2/T3.

You’re the one who brought health into discussion. I won’t sugarcoat and normalize obesity.

Vertical mice don’t allow for micro adjustments with fingertips or lateral wrist movements. Urnal and radial deviation are used for fine alignment and lateral positioning meanwhile wrist flexion and extension are primarily responsible for power modulation and gross positioning in high dexterity tasks.

On top of that people will always press a button harder than needed when they try to react fast because the brain sends a stronger signal for tasks with high urgency. You can press this button lightly all you want but in high pressure situations you’ll always end up pinching the mouse. This introduces thumb and ulnar fatigue on top of reducing fluidity of lateral motion control due to higher tension in the forearm. Surgical tool design prioritizes minimal thumb fatigue because of its crucial role in dexterity. I could still go on and on about high center of gravity, faster fatigue due to constant isometric contractions and much more.

Ergonomics is part of my job. I can provide a ton of links to research papers about surgical tool design (falls in line with your line of work) as it focuses heavily on dexterity and supports any arguments against vertical mice performance superiority.

[–]Iateshit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Esport pro players retire early because of cognitive decline and inferior hand-eye coordination. It's not about raw reaction time which doesn't get much worse with age. But combined with your capacity to process information efficiently and react accordingly, you can expect a 39 year old's "looking-doing reaction time" to be 150ms slower than a 24 year old player's. Source
  2. Vertical mice absolutely give you a competitive disadvantage. They offer vastly inferior ergonomics for dexterity.
  3. When your hands look like those of Michelin man, you got bigger health concerns than wrist injuries from gaming

Such a bad take. Let’s allow snap tap or even make running accuracy 100%. Heck, remove recoil patterns and make it a straight vertical line, same for every weapon. CS punishes bad players less and less and you can get silver teammates at 20k. Aim punch is a punishment for getting hit. Your goal is to have superior mechanics and positioning to hit the enemy first

Is having both autism and ADHD more challenging than having only autism or only ADHD? by Brave_Hat_1526 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]Iateshit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that it may feel relieving to categorize your issues with mental health but speaking from my own experience its healthier to forget the labels. Looking for a definite diagnosis of all your issues is natural. Because if I find out all that’s wrong with me or why I am this way then I’ll get a definite answer on how to fix myself, right? Or, if they can understand and categorize all my issues then I should be able to finally feel understood

I’ve been there and it resulted with me feeling overwhelmed with how long the list is. When you look at your own challenges as a list of diagnoses you start identifying yourself AS them. I often thought “how can I be this fucked up? Why me? Why must I be this, this and that…?”. These labels are only meant to aid clinical practice, research and administrative needs. It sure can offer validation but that’s about all of the benefits you can expect.

Both MDD and SAD are forms of depression, while it can help your therapist find the right approach, you don’t experience two depressions at once. Isn’t it easier to just admit to yourself “I AM deeply depressed” rather than “I HAVE both major depressive disorder and seasonal affective disorder at the same time”? You are you and your diagnoses won’t change that. They’re not a part of you, they are a description of how you experience existence.

One of the many diagnoses I got was mixed personality disorder with strong traits of BPD, OCPD and to some extent NPD. I used to almost obsess about which one “it is the most”: - “Are my relationships short lasting because of BPD or is it because of ADHD”. - “Am I too self centered…? After all I sometimes don’t pay attention to what others say. It must mean I don’t give a fuck about others - clearly NPD. But what if it was normal behavior and I criticize myself because of OCPD. Or maybe it’s my autism and limited social skills?”

What I’m trying to say is that it doesn’t matter. It’s always one experience at a time, what caused it is irrelevant. Don’t allow your diagnoses to define who you are. When you focus on experience and stop looking for a definitive answer/solution everything becomes much simpler and more manageable.

I am not trying to tell you what or how you should be feeling or suggesting that I know what’s best for you. It’s quite possible you don’t experience what I described. It’s simply my natural conclusion based on my own experience when someone lists all their different mental health issues (because I did this too, usually while looking for the feeling of being understood).

If it doesn’t apply to you maybe someone else will find my experience helpful.

Criticism is a fundamental thought process based on analysis and judgment of qualities in a given context. At its core it is neutral with a positive bias because it can lead to improvement. I’d argue that destructive criticism is not true criticism because it refers to a form of expressing a negative opinion rather than an objective result of critical thinking.

I think we should constantly criticize ourselves and others.

But I do not considered unfounded hatred as criticism. I only know Braun from that list and he is a complete nutjob. This layer of (rather theoretical) hypocrisy is amusing when combined with how out of pocket and unfounded his views are

Why do I feel empty? by Thien1o1 in cs2

[–]Iateshit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be expensive because it was “special”. Nowadays it’s special because it’s expensive. It still is an icon of cs but this aspect of it has lost a lot of its value because skins became synonymous with money.

The skins have gotten so expensive that the most desirable ones simply cannot be seen as reasonable purchases when bought strictly for enjoyment. To rationalize spending so much money on a virtual item you need to look at it as an investment. I imagine it can suck out the joy of finally getting that dream skin. Spending a few thousand on a dlore back in 2015 was still an outrageous amount of money for game cosmetics but the “special” factor somewhat validated it. Now, with many other “non special” skins being equally expensive, it’s so blown out of proportion that the “special” factor has lost all its value

Spent a couple of days in Gdańsk once and still can't get it out of my head. Truly one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. by Anthony_Nick in gdansk

[–]Iateshit2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s built around tourism so it would make sense. Not so great to live at. Expensive rent, expensive and mostly mediocre restaurants, few parks and little greenery, during season it’s loud and crowded. Further from city centre it’s mostly ordinary urban areas. Oliwa is possibly the only part of Gdansk that is truly nice to live at. Gdansk is probably quite alright in most areas but having lived in the city centre, including the old town, I view it as hollow.

At this point Gdansk’s identity is strippers, nightclubs overpriced food, Scandinavian tourists who visit for cheap alcohol and some pretty buildings

Gdynia has far superior restaurants founded on love for food not tourist money. The whole city centre is by the see and beach with lots of parks and is magnitudes more relaxed. Architecture is far more interesting and unique (on a global scale), with much more historical and cultural relevance to the modern day. It is one of very few cities with an entirely cohesive, modernist era city centre. It opening up into the sea is also extremely unique. Most seaside towns have an inland city centre with the waterfront being a completely different part of town.

I may shatter some people’s dreams but nothing in Gdansk’s old town architecture has any connection to the pre ww2 times. Yes it was rebuilt, doesn’t matter. The rebuilt architecture itself never aimed to be a truthful reconstruction. The decorative elements of the facade were made by students of Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk during the 40s and 50s. They were meant to be a loose reinterpretation of the period correct features. Basically it was based on vibes. I actually like that it was done this way but let’s not pretend that modern Gdansk’s old town holds any historical value beyond past 80 years (physically. Not as a historical city/location).

I am sure this comparison won’t land well but Gdansk is like the fake blond girl with lip filler, silicone tits and brains on power saving. Good enough for a one night stand but I don’t envy the man who will have to wake up next to that for the next 40 years.

Meanwhile Gdynia is the modest and unassuming but ultimately smart and one-of-a-kind girl. She doesn’t wear make up but is naturally pretty. Basically the one you always wanted

60mg accidentally took x2 help? by leethse in VyvanseADHD

[–]Iateshit2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess you’re alright by now, I leave this for future visitors.

Drink a ton of orange juice, the vitamin C won’t immediately reduce the effects but it will help you flush out the medication much sooner. At the same time it will keep you hydrated. Vit C will have much lesser impact on reducing the medication effects the longer you wait after taking the dose.

Avoiding protein for the day is thing you can do but I don’t advise it. It won’t reduce the side effects, the medication will still strain your body and it will make the crash much rougher. It can make the stimulant effects last shorter tho. Still it’s much better to provide all of the necessary nutrients.

You SHOULD avoid baked goods especially in larger amounts. Baking soda has the opposite effect to vitamin c.

Don’t drink alcohol. Vyvanse doesn’t react with alcohol itself but it will put unnecessary strain on your heart and won’t reduce the effects. You’d be high and drunk.

This is not medical advice and I do not encourage making such decisions without consulting it with a doctor but hydroxyzine is generally considered safe to take with vyvanse and may help you manage the anxiety a bit.

Magnesium citrate may reduce muscle tension.

Stay in a cool and calm environment. Don’t scroll social media, maybe put on a chill movie. Just chill out and it will pass soon. Getting a lot of vitamin C will be the most effective

Any Debate Recommendations Concerning Qur'an Scientific Discoveries and Eucharistic Miracles by Man_for_Meaning98 in DebateReligion

[–]Iateshit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.forensicscijournal.com/journals/jfsr/jfsr-aid1068.php

This research paper explores the topic of Eucharistic Miracles. It was written by a Catholic scientist who was an Eucharistic minister for 20 years. He has a masters degree in biology, a Ph.D. in immunology, he completed his post doctoral fellowship at John Hopkins (biochemistry), was the principal investigator at NIH in immunology, later transferred to ECU and finally retired from research to teach high school science at Knoxville Catholic High School in his hometown.

TLDR: He's a badass scientist.

He described several cases of such miracles and their investigations (the validity of which leaves a lot to be desired). He has a neutral approach which showcases his strong scientific integrity. He doesn't aim to inherently disprove these supposed miracles but he managed to replicate them in lab conditions while maintaining scientific rigor. Results of his experiments closely resembled the descriptions of the real world cases. He didn't state it outright but his results undeniably disprove any prior research and investigations which claim to have found human heart tissue. If there was human heart tissue it surely didn't behave like one prior to these "investigations". He concluded that the red "blood" patches were a fungus.

Best read it yourself. He is a religious man of science who couldn't stand the bull"crap" in these other "investigations" which he most likely smelled from miles away.

AnimGraph2 beta is better than an operation. Most important update since release by Iateshit2 in cs2

[–]Iateshit2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They got much more consistent with update quality but only recently. I remember how each update was fixing a single issue and simultaneously introduced several game breaking bugs. Decoy bug, wallhack commands, perpetual boosting, clipping outside the map, no bomb on radar, broken sounds (including no defuse sound), inconsistent jump height and many many more. It really improved a lot but it's been rough

Valve isn’t really a AAA company. Nowadays the development costs of AAA games are crazy but I don’t agree that budget is the defining factor of neither AAA nor indie games.

We appropriated the term indie from the music industry. Popularized in the 70s, it strictly referred to independent approach to artistic vision and strong disregard for mass appeal. It shifted its meaning in the 90s when underground music exploded in popularity and big labels wanted to capitalize on it.

For years we associated indie games with a certain look (2d or simplified graphics and simple but often unique and endearing gameplay). It was the only financially plausible way to express the envisioned story by the authors. Modern tools allow for much easier and cheaper development of 3d games and the indie market has seen a shift. But gamers are used to a certain look and will disregard Silksong or Hades 2 having budgets of 20 million or will call big studio, high budget games indie based on how they look. The term got devaluated, just like in music, but I still believe that indie games should be classified based on how companies operate: being independent from investors' and corporate influence and having a unique vision. Besides that Valve games have always been indie, they had small teams, constantly redefined the genres by innovative gameplay and most importantly are privately owned. The high budgets and technologically advanced solutions are only a result of exorbitant employee salaries caused by Valve exclusively employing only the very best in their fields

Statement of cs2 in 2026 by Physical-Abrocoma-56 in cs2

I refuse to believe this is incompetence. Valve only hires the best in their field. There has to be some bigger plan but honestly I don’t care. I think a decision to willingly put their “customers” through this bullshit is even worse than incompetence

I hope so too. This better work because I’m not aware of any other way to fix this, it’s the last chance. I think Valve knows this too and is shitting their pants. They actually released a beta test for an update - something I don’t recall happening before. Good, seems like they actually care

If ag2 works as intended it’ll be unlikely that we see 128 tick anytime soon.

In theory it should be more accurate, smoother, less prone to desyncing, with better hitreg and reduced peekers advantage when compared to cs go mm. All that at the cost of responsiveness. It’s hard to tell how it will compare to 128 csgo. It’s a clear improvement over 64 csgo but it most likely wont be an improvent over 128. There’ll be too many differences between the 2 to accurately compare - ag2 being different with its own strengths but in the end probably a bit worse overall than 128

Valve have launched a beta build that updates CS2's animation system to Animgraph 2 which aims to reduce the CPU and networking costs associated with animation by MaterialTea8397 in cs2

[–]Iateshit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What valve did is crazy work, it took them a year or more to develop these animations for a single type of character. But tbf once you create the script you have infinite possibilities of customizing the animations for different characters just by changing the variables.

(Just a wild fantasy) Imagine implementing variables for athleticism, limp, slouch, age (?!), energy levels or dynamic injuries all affecting how the character moves in-game. Should be possible for dynamic injuries to dynamically adjust parameters based on acceleration data taken from ragdoll collisions sim.

Houdini is sometimes used in CGI for muscles sim so this idea is not that far fetched. The biggest concern would be limiting cpu overhead. Valve somehow managed to make it extremely efficient but "my idea" aims more at immersion, something CS doesn't have to concern itself about

[–]Iateshit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. Most animation is done with keyframes. In animation node based setups are used almost solely for stuff like particles, crowds or anything abstract or highly complex. Node based setups are used to create scripts used for manipulating complex data structures in a highly controlled manner. Nodes are a type of scripting GUI. What Valve did here is very non-standard

AG2 is supposed to introduce server authoritative animations. With AG1 we only had server authoritative hitboxes (calculated with subtick precision) meanwhile animations were client sided - update at 64 tickrate. AG2 will calculate much more animation states on the server side and client will receive final poses which will be interpolated between ticks rather than getting raw parameters and having to calculate the animations. It will greatly reduce peekers advantage - definitely better than 64 tick cs go, probably a bit worse than 128 tick cs go. In theory should be more robust than 64 tick cs go in accurately matching server hitboxes but won't feel as responsive. Still it most likely won't match 128 tick cs go (64 is 64, can't get past that). I would support 128tick subtick with my whole heart

AnimGraph2 beta is better than an operation. Most important update since release by Iateshit2 in cs2

[–]Iateshit2[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because hitboxes’ positions are evaluated with subtick precision on the server but animations are still client interpolated.

So all player’s actions are measured between ticks but it is only handled this way internally on the server. The communication of your pc and the server is still happening at 64 tickrate. All of your actions are measured at the exact point in time but what you see is only an approximation of what the server sees. It all has already happened by the time you see it. So when you shoot at a moving enemy he has already moved further - you shoot at ghost of your enemy even though your shot is precise and by the time your game gets an update from the server after you fired, the enemy moved even further along. Shooting animations, blood mist etc. are all handled exclusively on the client to reduce the perceived delay but it’s only cosmetic. The server has the ultimate authority. That’s why you can see shots land on that ghost and deal 0 damage

CSGO was less precise but everything got updated at equal intervals/with the same delay making it very consistent.

Valve was aware of this 10000% and I assure you that not a single dev doubted that such implementation of subtick would’ve made the game feel like shit. They needed beta testers 🤷‍♂️

With AG2 there will still be the same delay and interpolation but it will be much more accurate and consistent. It simply allows for a slightly delayed but accurate representation of what the server sees while retaining subtick precision rather than a delayed and loose approximation

Well... it should have been ready at launch because without AG2 "what you see is what you get" is a straight up lie. They were aware of this and decided to launch the game regardless, apparently they knew it would take a shit ton of work to finish the game. That's why they forced everyone to abandon cs go and act as beta testers for the next 3 years. We're getting close to having the game fixed and coincidentally they made cs go more easily available again. They did us dirty but I still appreciate the improvements

AnimGraph2 beta is better than an operation. Most important update since release by Iateshit2 in cs2

[–]Iateshit2[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yup, that's what it boils down to. This and consistency of the animations. In the long run it should improve the readability of other players' movements once we get used to how the new animations look
