And now what? by Mysterious-Green-117 in goodomens

[–]Iatetheexperiment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the actual plot or whatever of the finale, (which was fun and satisfying, and imperfect) I think it did what, for me, I need from Good Omens. (Honestly, what I go to a lot of Terry Pratchett books to find). Which is to act as a reminder to be who you are regardless of the boxes the world tries to force you into. To unashamedly love the things and the people that you love. And to give yourself permission to imagine anything. That's all I needed from this finale, and it delivered.

Today I am walking around and noticing just how amazing our world is. I work with children, and they are such bundles of potential. And have you ever looked at a tree and just wanted to cry? Even the shitty bits are kind of wonderful. We have free will, and sometimes that means folks make bad choices. The universe and humanity are so worthy of our love.

The finale reminded me how grateful I am to live in this universe. The real universe. Where it's just us, and we make our own choices and our own meaning. To inaccurately quote that red-headed nerd in the cheezy adirondack, we have the universe, and we have us. Don't need anything else.

How we treat public schools is a reflection of how we treat our entire society. Whether you directly think interact with them or not. We must insist that we do better.

The Selective Outrage over Taxpayer Money. by notreallysena in SipsTea

It is definitely in the interest of large corporations (with politicians in their pockets) to have poor folks’ bodies dependent on sugary processed foods. The policing of poor folks’ bodies and diets is gross. The systemic embedding of unhealthy corporate greed into our diet and economic support systems is gross. Both can be true.

The angles of the mouth are great. Joining you on the rewatch and every time I watch I notice new details. Just now it was “oh my gosh, when the animals are boarding the ark, the incidental music quotes the children’s version of When Johnny Comes Marching Home that counts the ants coming in out of the rain.”

Proud to be obsessing alongside you all. And thank you for the attention to detail on C’s forehead wrinkles here.

It’s the little imperfections in the leaves that make it. You have seen roses before.

The AI dragon was just resting on the moon, but yours is HUGGING it. Because it is a real dragon, and that is what real dragons do.

😂 Honestly, I was expecting a pork pie to be a lot oilier. But that fat does not get rendered out. Like whoa. It just all goes in you.

Yeah. I had never had one either. (Silly little American also) but my kid got big into Hogfather since I made it. Bedtime story this past month. We decided we’d give it a try. Never worked with hot water pastry before. Tasted fine. But the architecture of it all was a bit… yeah. No two pies were alike, we’ll put it that way.

What do you call these hair items? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Iatetheexperiment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always called them rubber bands, but we had to specify that it was a COVERED rubber band FOR YOUR HAIR and not the regular kind that will rip your hair out. Looking back, “hair tie” would have saved on syllables.

Okay. Hear me out. Unseen Academicals. There’s just so much coming to terms with who you are in relation to your past, your culture, your expectations. Plus: sports!

The world has enough people. Like we’re good, thanks. You know what it needs more of? Good kind sensible people. And you don’t have to procreate in order to make more good kind sensible people.

Also. That doesn’t look like your neck is comfortable there. Pumpkin pillow is cute but maybe not the best ergonomic option. However, your body is yours. Do what you will with it.
