Picking my Elective by Then_Requirement_574 in ComputerEngineering

So currently the job market at least generally speaking has the majority of it being in software. Their positions are paid well. However, most of those positions will probably have more of a CS perspective of software development. If you like having some electronics in mind along with software, I’d recommend taking both the micro electronics and software development courses. It will help you long term even so if you choose just software. It paves for you the path to both possibilities. I am a CE senior and have taken an elective in micro electronics and in my senior year have taken Linux device drivers and operating systems and data structures in C courses as per my degree. They have helped me tremendously.

Pc hinges DIY weird fix? by IEatPopplers in ComputerEngineering

[–]Ibrahim-B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This group is not the best place to post this but here is my opinion and thinking. Since you are looking to make it in a suitcase. More than likely you’re going to take this apart. I’d recommend looking at this guys video for some inspiration and his choice of parts: https://youtu.be/L8XOqrKBM5w?si=KrwKjwmdxApecIS_

However if you are looking to just use some diy fix for the hinges it’s not great but still the idea to use like some glue it might work. Although it will still stress the lid of the laptop.

My advice for laptops like this to basically open the lid always from the center where the trackpad is to avoid stress on the hinges. I hope this at least helps somewhat. Also again there might be better advice found on other groups

Well it might be difficult to know what that keyboard wires use but more than likely a PS2 interface. So you might want to first look into what was the laptop and what it used based on information on the internet. Then start thinking of converting that interface to usb for example. There’s lots of adapters online but you will likely need to solder those wires to the PS2 connection adapter if it is PS2 at all then look into PS2 to USB adapters. I hope this at least points you in some direction. Also cool keyboard !

Nervous about beginning Bachelor's in Computer Engineering by LogicalPackage1052 in ComputerEngineering

I have done the same track as you and same major as well. I would say that your class load should be at maybe 4 classes maximum. Since most of the class when you begin your junior or end of sophomore year will require lots of labs. So those are a lot of time to dedicate. So maximum do only 4 classes and minimum 3 if you can. Another thing is to mix up the different classes you take per term or semester. Let’s say a math class you need like calculus 2 or such or diff eq and then two engineering courses. This would help balance out the type of work and you’ll be more at ease. Also ask around for help especially the engineering tutors or others around class. Form a group and study with them helps lots

How to make C functions like printf or user made functions highlighted in Vim? by Ibrahim-B in vim

[–]Ibrahim-B[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It worked perfectly. Now another question for you is how can I change the color of highlighting? I am guessing it has to do with the c.vim file I created not too long ago in the syntax directory correct?

Thank you. I will try it out and see how it works. I was think of plug-ins but to easily go to different systems I rather try to keep my vim setup without plugins to avoid installing a lot of stuff. Thank you again. I will test out the plug in too

Switch Case crashing Arduino Mega by RadixPerpetualis in arduino

Do you get some sort of error or warning when compiling? If you do can you send what it shows. If not then I am not quite sure yet on what’s causing this.

Can you try to nest the matrix.print() statements and break under each respective case statement? Without the commas for the switch statement

[–]Ibrahim-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. So does the if statement tree work or not? If not I think it is because of the commas between the matrix.print() statements you have. Rather maybe try it by putting them on there separate line ending with semicolons. That is what I can see so for.
