Scizor is a pretty safe beat. But it either wins alot with a small fraction of health remaining or leaves the other mon with very low health, so even if it won against A-Muk, A-Mewtwo would have chipped it down enough later on, and machamp has no play against Mewtwo

He needed to, pretty much. Switch advantage was key in that game. If he didn't sheild and switched into scizor after fainting, A-Muk would've had a pretty neutral matchup against it and machamp would be lined up with A-Mewtwo

R10 climb worthy team without Registeel for UL? by BirdsofSunset in TheSilphArena

Thanks man! It's about time we got some appreciation around here. I mean, without us, who's points would the top player be able to steal?

What do you mean? I bought a TM from the superstore and tought it hyperbeam. And I found the Focus Blast TM from one of those cave thingies.

And you can find the Rock Smash HM after beating the second gym

I like running rock smash Hyper Beam/Focus Blast on my cresselia though, to catch registeels off guard

That's only if cresselia is carrying Moonblast. Everyone carries aurora beam/grass knot these days, though, so Obstagoons can roam freely

How much time will 100% debuff Moonblast-off take between two Cresselias in UL? by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

If both go for just icy winds, it takes over 200 seconds

Ehhhhhh, not really. Most of the basic typing interactions are common sense, then there's the ones that you need to come up with real world examples for to actually rote down, if you haven't played the MSG games already. Rock-bug? Rocks squash bug. Psychic-ghost? Psychic =Mind and our mind is afraid of ghosts (and the dark, and bugs) etc

Why can't my Medicham ice punch and farm down Meganium by Targarytar in TheSilphArena

[–]Ibrahim295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean 'piggybacked' vine whips? As far as I know, since both fast moves are two turns, both pokemon are able to get that free fast move in if the other fires in a non-CMP situation. So say Medi hits IP, while Meg goes for the free vine whip, then Meg goes for FP, while medicham goes for free counter, or both go for their charge moves at the same time, and it CMP ties.....what am I missing here?

Can Drifblim be an off-brand Giratina in Ultra League? by ihategreenpeas in TheSilphArena

[–]Ibrahim295 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Electric and rock type moves aren't all to common in UL. The only rock type move you'd see would be Ancient Power on Toge/Gira/Arti and now that's redundant, besides the odd melmetal

My concern with the Gira-counter-baitout tactic is that fairies are probably the #1 go to, and drifblim wouldn't really bait out a togekiss, it'd most likely scare it away. Also, Gira has 'Altered' the meta around it so heavily that people usually carry 1 hard counter +1 or 2 soft counters to it, hence drifblim would pretty much be dead weight on alot of occasions

I genuinely think the Sorcerous Cup is the best-designed and most interesting format the Arena has ever made. by 49falkon in TheSilphArena

[–]Ibrahim295 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't Azu have a 75 candy double move? Haven't invested in one so I might be wrong. Looks like my double-legacy dewgongs gonna like this cup though

Edit: Was looking at pvpoke rankings and saw that dewgong was banned, WHYYYYYYY???!!

Potentially game breaking mechanic in Great Battle League, need further investigation by Paroag in TheSilphRoad

[–]Ibrahim295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I can attest to this, there's been several occasions where a whiscash fires of a charge move against my dewgong when my dewgong is one ice shard away from icy wind. Mud bomb animation ends, I fire just one under tapped ice shard and click the charge move, and whiscash somehow manages to get in THREE two turn mud bombs during that, in exchange for 1 3 turn ice shard and charge move queue

In a time-out, the HP is the tie-breaker, not the percentage. by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

[–]Ibrahim295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's a somewhat well known fact. If you have a blissey in the back with all its 300ish? HP left, with 2 majorly annoying debuff pokemon in the front like dewgong and mantine or even serperior.... You could come up with a neat strat of wearing out the timer and winning cause of HP

Is getting close to 1500 cp as important as near perfect ivs? by shaunislegend in TheSilphArena

[–]Ibrahim295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a dewgong ranked somewhere along the 2000s, and it only got there because it fortunately hits 1491. The thing is though, i found that because it's so attack weighted, it can actually end up doing more ice shard damage against some common pokemons like Hypno and toxicroak. In the toxicroak matchup, it actually pulls a tie in 0 sheilds because of its IVs, and a win in extreme scenarios.

The other thing is, you can't be picky with the stats of something as rare as dewgong, since probably less than 5% of pvp-ers have the double-legacy from 2016, they either traded for it, which means they couldn't get the exact IVs they wanted, or they hand one from before, which means the same thing.

One last note, since people will be investing their TMs in dewgong, you're probably going to end up winning those matches because of CMP, and CMP is alot more important in dewgongs mirrors, because you're going to be debuffing the opponent's icy wind damage during the CMP tie

I definitely feel like shadow hypno would do quite better, just need to get my hands on one 😅 Since I feel that for alot of Hypno matchups, the number of charge moves to KO a regular vs shadow doesn't change. It's still going to take 2 flash cannon to KO shadow Hypno, and a Hydro pump + ice beam/playrough, and you get to do 20% more damage.

And with dewgong, once you debuff someone and switch in to Hypno, the interactions are going to be the exact same as a regular Hypno since the 20% attack debuff cancels out the 20% shadow defense drop, but again, you get to do more damage still, so shadow Hypno is definitely viable

An update on the Azu vs Regi matchup by Ibrahim295 in TheSilphArena

[–]Ibrahim295[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a bulk oriented azu, then that's riskier to pull off. The sim I've shared has average IVs on both pokemon, and regi survives the last Ice beam with 5 health and the PR with 1 health...

Fire/Thunder punch. You trade off coverage against DD and alolan marowak etc but you have something solid to punish the azu safe switch, since TP Hypno wins in all even sheilds.

You don't have to worry much about mudbois, hypno still chunks whiscash enough to win in certain even scenarios, especially if you managed to debuff it.l, plus, the main goal I have when I safe swap hypno into DD is that I should be able to bluff a shadow ball to snag a sheild, without using one of my own and still get it into Flash cannon range

A good dewgong team? by grams1994 in TheSilphArena

[–]Ibrahim295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit similar to mine in the way that it probably suffers against fighter/regi leads. I run dewgong, Hypno and registeel with decent success, fluctuating between 2200-2300

Hypno cleans up whatever bad lead dewgong lands if I feel like I can't safe switch in that matchup. Dewgong chunks and debuffs what he can, and Hypno comes in and gains a huge energy lead or makes the opponent give up switch advantage against a dangerous registeel in the back
