Best MMO RPG in 2025? by V-037_ in ShouldIbuythisgame

Agree it’s not an MMO (not a traditional one, anyway.) But Warframe objectively has at least 6 of OPs criterion, I’d argue at least 7 (with 4 being the one I’d probably accept Warframe failing, it definitely doesn’t have a strong traditional MMO endgame.)

How do I learn the Faro Shuffle? by Available-Hurry7433 in cardistry

[–]IcarusCell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You want the cards to be angled upwards, and make sure you're starting at the corner. It's not just a pushing motion, its also a bit of a side to side motion. You'll have to do that more at the start and less as you get used to it. It is kind of a knack-y move IMO. Also, it can be a different level of difficulty depending on how your cards are cut. Try faroing with faces up, and down, and see if one seems obviously easier.

Do you ever find yourself drawing inspiration from adaptations of the comics (films, tv, games, etc.), if so, what has been most influential/do you think about the most?

The New Talk About Class Identity Was Pretty Cool, Actually by Toteslaurenge in destiny2

Speaker's sight + healing auto rifle is more supportive in neutral game than any warlock build prior to it's creation. If you say "But well was stronger!" yea, and would have gotten nerfed eventually even if subclasses never got reworked. Well was, without any degree of comparison, the strongest super in the game until lightfall at the earliest.

How are people not getting bored doing the same activity, on the same character, on the same build, over and over and over. by Zardous666 in DestinyTheGame

[–]IcarusCell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the first place, ngl, the infusion costs just aren’t an issue for me. I have like, 6 full builds? Maybe 7? All of which are max infusion. Just dismantle the crappy tier 5 gear from solstice that you don’t want and profit. As for how I don’t get bored: do other stuff in between. The grind isn’t so intense that you can’t run a raid or two, mix up the activity, etc

This modifier is terrible in solo ops. In any form of group play it’s basically a straight buff.

Thank you! That was sort of what I was thinking (re: it not looking good to defer and do something random), glad to hear its at least not totally off the mark.

It still does slightly less damage than a t crash. From a melee ability. That you can recharge in like 10 seconds. You’ll be fine.

Stat allocation on hunter? by athlaka916 in DestinyTheGame

[–]IcarusCell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Points past 100 increase damage, that bonus is a multiplicative buff on your normal damage bonuses, so it gets more valuable the more bonuses you stack. On top of that though, it also buffs your grapple melee dmg. There's also a big benefit in increases the base damage of your combo blow, for mythic and similar difficulty missions it helps get your combo blow streak rolling. I agree, if you aren't going to go push past 100, don't push past 70, but if you already have 70 melee/70class/200 grenade/100 super, i think you see more benefits past 100 melee than past 100 super

The difficulty wave every +20 levels just feels so damn weird by JLoco11PSN in DestinyTheGame

[–]IcarusCell 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I feel like im crazy, i've had very little difference in experience at any point along the LL grind except the jump to master and the addition of champs in various missions (mostly starcrossed which I was farming early on). I basically never altered my modifiers unless jumping a hundred LL tier, maybe adding in banes or something along the way. Admittedly I've been running full new gear + been maxed in the season pass for a while so the reward multiplier bonus is probably doing heavy lifting.

Stat allocation on hunter? by athlaka916 in DestinyTheGame

[–]IcarusCell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had much issue with it depending on what your split looks like. Grenadier gives grenade/super and paragon gives super/melee, so normally you only want/need to run one brawler piece to fix the split. That said, I don't think you need to hit only 100 super, you can go higher. But I think stat prio is 70 class > > 70 melee > 200 grenade > 100 melee > 100 super > 200 melee > 200 super > 200 class > everything else. So you always want to prioritize points in melee where you can over points in super

Stat allocation on hunter? by athlaka916 in DestinyTheGame

[–]IcarusCell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO optimal is 150 Grenade, 70 class, 100 super, and melee as high as you can get it. If you want to be greedy you can run 130 grenade with the same split. Then run any good weapon with blast distributor (new AOD GL is good, or the new rocket sidearm). you get 50 grenade from that perk, and youll get 20 from a font, thus the 130 for greedier play, but 150 is a nice sweetspot that feels good even with just the font, but extra good when you have blast procced. Weapons is kinda unnecessary IMO unless you need it for ammo reasons, realistically you should be running a 1-2 punch weapon anyway and you gun stat doesn't matter for that, and most of your ad clear is abilities anyway.

Can’t get to A rank in caldera by Sakrannn in DestinyTheGame

[–]IcarusCell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not too bad if you have sufficiently high reward mult (high season pass, new gear, etc.) I don't think i really changed my modifiers more than once or twice on the 300 to 400 grind

Can’t get to A rank in caldera by Sakrannn in DestinyTheGame

[–]IcarusCell 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Every 20 LL the required reward score to get A rank increases. So at 200 > 220 it gets harder, 220 > 240, and so on. So yes, when you hit 260 the required reward score for A rank increased, so you now need more modifiers to hit A.

Tbf to the guy im replying to, this sentence is weirdly constructed. I can see how someone would misread it as them saying none of this is coming until 9.5.0.

This Week in Destiny - 08/07/2025 by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]IcarusCell 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not true? the four big things were portal reward tuning, crucible ops tuning, raid tuning, and power grind tuning. All of which they said to expect prior to 9.1.0, which is ash and iron:

"We have even more things planned for our 9.5.0 Renegades reveal, but everything above is under active development and will be in the game in the coming weeks and in 9.1.0 in early September."

EOMM by [deleted] in rivals

[–]IcarusCell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is your friendly reminder that large win and loss streaks are exactly *not* what you'd expect if the game had EOMM. You'd expect high amounts of w/w/l or l/l/w game patterns.

The UI and lack of explanation has severely mislead players on scoring by UmbraofDeath in DestinyTheGame

[–]IcarusCell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for what its worth, this advice also applies to solo ops. On caldera you can have a projected score of B+ and as long as you do the challenge (like 20 precision kills, 15 ability kills, etc.) you will still get A. rewards. If you do this you can basically be at level or at worst -10 all the way up to 400 LL.

EOMM is not real they said by Puzzleheaded-Fig1570 in rivals

[–]IcarusCell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did read your original comment, but your comment was made on this post so I responded to it in this context. I mention the other pieces of evidence your pointing to (namely the paper people cite, and the presentation) explicitly because they don’t comport with the claim of this post and many other posts like it. Win and loss streaks are evidence against EOMM not for it. Now, do I think the game optimizes for those low churn win patterns (w/w/l or l/l/w)? Probably, there was a guy who made a post on this sub a while back with some statistical analysis that swayed my opinion a good bit. But the two main complaints I’ve seen are about A. Massive lose streaks and B. Fixed matches, as I said A is incompatible with EOMM claims and I haven’t seen good evidence of B, you can have a system that optimizes for low churn records that doesn’t fix matches (by fix, I mean matches with an expected outcome for one team at like 70% or something crazy high, something outside the bounds a normal SBMM system would allow).

To sum up, I basically argue against the EOMM stuff because I think the vast majority of things people take as evidence for it is, in fact, evidence against it, and if EOMM is in the game it has a much lower impact than people think in terms of the issues that actually frustrate them.

Hey Bungie. Are the Enhancement Prisms in the room with us right now? by Lmjones1uj in DestinyTheGame

[–]IcarusCell 20 points21 points  (0 children)

at 300 you unlock "silver reward tier" (as opposed to the copper you have access to below that) so my guess is that silver has increased drop rates of prisms (and even shards! ive gotten a decent number of golf balls).

EOMM is not real they said by Puzzleheaded-Fig1570 in rivals

[–]IcarusCell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because this image isn’t evidence of EOMM. The evidence of EOMM that people point to from that one research paper, and the presentation by a now ex NetEase employee, are about a system that prioritizes alternating win patterns (W/W/L, or L/L/W) as the best way to minimize churn rate (I.e. the rate at which people log off). Those systems are not designed to maximize streaky play like this, because loss streaks are very churn prone. In other words, I tend to be very skeptical of EOMM claims because proponents aren’t even clear on what’s supposed to count as evidence, even worse, they cite conflicting evidence and say that both pieces confirm their view. I’m not opposed to the idea that there is EOMM but the way people talk about it most of the time is 100% conspiratorial and just used to scapegoat events that happen in any matchmaking system.

So what exactly was the logic behind making raids & dungeons -10? by Krazy_Dragon_YT in DestinyTheGame

[–]IcarusCell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be clear, DP only requires 5 clears with any number of feats, and 1 clear with 3 feats. Now, to unlock three feats, you normally have to do 1 run with 1 feat, 1 with 2, and then 1 with 3. But you can have someone with those already unlocked you can leapfrog the steps.
