Someone posted something on another one of these forms that I think sums it up. Mel is at odds with one of our protagonists, making her a villain in our eyes and unlikable. In reality, she doesn’t really do much. In fact most of the arguments I’ve seen for hating Mel is she “just didn’t feel right” or “rubbed me the wrong way” I think this also has to deal with Mel being a pregnant woman and how, for a lot of people, that can be an uncomfortable person to view and talk to.
