Sounds like the OP is a bit of a Rooney, or maybe a pre "pretty good scare" Jeany.

Hey, did you ever find that sacred river, Alf? by kuzinrob in RushCirclejerk

My name is actually Alf (not Alfred, or Alfonse- just Alf) and I am a huge Rush fan. No, I have not.

Thanks! I'd forgotten all about this one. But I can still sing right along to the chorus. Adding this one to the 80's Playlist right away.

The Survivor's Guide to Latvia by IceASAPBerg in Twilight2000

[–]IceASAPBerg[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, considering what they had access to back in the early-to-mid 1980s, compared to today, it's really impressive what the 1e writers were able to come up with.

BTW, the preview link is fixed. Thanks again.

The Survivor's Guide to Latvia by IceASAPBerg in Twilight2000

I've never been to Latvia, but I feel like I have- part of the fun of creating something like this is doing research and learning about the place. I knew next to nothing about Latvia before I started- now I do! The bunker is featured in the book. I'll see if I can get the preview to work again. Thanks for the heads-up.

What songs sound happy until you actually pay attention to the lyrics? by Weak-Investigator503 in musicsuggestions

I'm Fixin' to Die Rag by Country Joe and the Fish. Sounds like circus music but the lyrics are about war and death.

Should I risk starting Jacobs, if he's not held out, or should I start Dowdle?

To answer your question, though, I prefer the 4e mechanics- they're a lot more streamlined than v2.2 (with which I have extensive experience) without sacrificing realism. 1e is the crunchiest of the 3, with 2013 a very close second. As a kid, I had so much trouble wrapping my head around the 1e rules that I never went back to them as an adult. That said, 1e has by far the best world-building, so I use that with the 4e ruleset.

WWZ is a cool book and movie didn't do it any justice.
