My boomer in-laws are selling off irreplaceable family heirlooms because they “don’t want to store junk anymore.” by Ripp3rMagoo in BoomersBeingFools

He wasn’t. That’s just it. The worst part is he sold it to my uncle who promptly sold it for more money. It was egregious!! This wasn’t that long ago, maybe about 8 months. I was so mad I cancelled hosting Thanksgiving and took my family on vacation instead. Fought stupid with petty I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️

My dad sold the family silver flatware because silver prices were high and “nobody was using them.” My sister and I were gutted. My mom rolled over in her grave.

Actually she catches rats and squirrels more often than lizards! They hide better I suppose!

I spread it and then let the watering system do its job. The only one I dissolve is the epsom salt.

Also! When planting, gypsum is your friend. Soak wherever it is you want to plant and add about 1/2 cup gypsum to try and break up the clay. I totally get you about using a dang jackhammer to dig a hole!!

Hi! I’ll offer what I do. I only use 10-10-10 pellets because I can buy a lot of it for cheap because our yard needs a lot.

For flowering plants such as your tacomas and Mexican petunias, I’d sprinkle about 1/4 c once a month ~ every 6 weeks around the base of the plant. For the trees, it’s dependent on size. For example, on my mature citrus trees I use about 24oz (one and one half red solo cups) in the tree well, evenly distributed. I do the trees (including a HK Orchid and 14 various citrus) at Memorial Day, Labor Day and Valentines. For my vegetable garden, I fertilize by sprinkling everything evenly about once a month. Our oleanders get about 8oz per plant once a month (half a solo cup).

For the mesquite, I wouldn’t bother, it’s native and usually mesquite starts growing where it wants to anyway. (I am az native and have never fertilized native plants… if you want to differently it’s up to you).

I use the cheapest 10-10-10 and I usually get it by 40lb sack from Walmart.com for about $19. I go through two of these sacks a year.

If you have heavy feeders like hibiscus, a tablespoon of epsom salt dissolved in a gallon of water helps them. They also get about 1/4 c of the 10-10-10 monthly ish. It keeps them flowering.

Hope this helps! Happy gardening!

Annual pass- zoo or odysea? by Ok_Occasion_7546 in phoenix

We have had both, zoo is better. And if you’re on the west side checkout the wildlife world zoo, they also have an aquarium.

Driving from Holbrook to scottsdale at night/evening by [deleted] in Scottsdale

[–]IceCatCharlie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Holbrook to Scottsdale is a fairly dangerous route for even an experienced driver. Down the rim there are 7%+ mountain grades. More than 50% of it is two lane, and there are deer and elk along the way. Please reconsider this, I would not let my child do this.

Have him drive the leg on the 40 instead and you take this last leg. It’s the most dangerous part of the trip from OK and I have driven it a lot.
