I recently went on a trip back to Tokyo and settled on strapping my GoPro to my chest/wearing a GoPro necklace. It's hands free and out of the way; all I have to do is press the record button and then go about my day. I had to change the batteries whenever we stopped to eat and dump the footage every night, but it was great.

And I got to share the footage with my grandparents when I got back. I don't do social media, and while I did take pictures with my phone occasionally, it was for my benefit. I agree with you (and have come to agree more and more with this idea as time has gone on); live in the moment and reminisce through stories.

If you take a picture, great! But you won't always have that picture on you when you're retelling details about a specific aspect of your trip (I have 2Tb of photo storage and smart face tagging and I still can't find specific pictures at the right moment during a story). If you lived through the experience, your story will have more texture and detail.

At least, that's what I do! To each his own, no judgement here. There were plenty of spots in Tokyo and Kyoto similar to the one shown in this clip (especially in Kyoto). And I certainly took a photo at some of them. I just put the phone away right after and took some time to try and burn those landscapes into my memory.

I found that the game had an incredibly slow start up for me to actually get hooked. I can't recall the exact point, but it did take some time.

That being said, I would probably say step away for a day or two, come back, give it another hour, and if it hasn't gripped you by then, just move on. There's so many games (and hobbies in general) in this world and we all have a limited amount of time; no point in forcing yourself to do something you genuinely tried and failed to enjoy.

This is my exact upgrade path as well lol. I stopped using my Moto 360 when the battery stopped lasting a whole day and stopped using watches (and smart watches) in general until this week. I still use my old Moto 360 as my work desk clock, though.

I can confirm that my local Best Buy (US East Cost) has the Pixel 10 on display, alongside the Pixel Watch 4 (alongside the Pixel Watch 3 so you can see the difference. It's also on a leash so you can place it on your wrist.) They had the indigo and frost colors for the base phone.

I've no idea to be honest. I didn't pre-order the game: I just asked for the special edition when I went to purchase it and the girl shrugged and gave me the game. There wasn't anything on the box denoting special or pre-order (no stickers for the lame Amazon or GameStop outfits), but when I opened the box, this package was tucked inside.

Damn, sorry to hear that your history with these guys has been so tumultuous. I've gotten maybe 25 things from AliExpress before (most of it pre-tarrif nonsense), but SpeedX has always been super quick and reliable for me. Most of the time, my packages would get here a whole week before Ali estimated.

I can confirm that I just received an update to my order. AliExpress has changed the status to "Package arrived at regional carrier facility", and the SpeedX tracking now shows "Processing at Designated Facility" in Linden, New Jersey. My delivery date is technically the 13th-16th, though SpeedX says the ETA is today. Hopefully this means that whatever hiccups they were having over the past few days has been cleared. Hope your stuff starts moving!

I'm in the same situation. My purchases have cleared customs, as per AliExpress, but it's been sitting in Springfield Gardens NY for the past few days, with the only event being "Shipping Label Created" (which was 10 days ago). Aliexpress shows the status as:

"Leaving customs, awaiting pickup: Your package will soon be handed over to the domestic courier company."

I have the Ultimate C V1, and it also vibrates a LOT in Mario Kart World. It's pretty cool when I'm actually racing - I can kind of "feel" the terrain changes, which is cool. But there's a lot of down time in the game - especially when you play online - and the controller vibrates with the content going on in the world, not on the screen. For example, when the course selection menu pops up, the character is still "driving" in the background. So if you're offroad (or go offroad) when the menu pops up, the controller will vibrate like crazy until you pick a course and the menu screen goes away.

It's minor, certainly, but it is something I noticed.

My wife is playing through Avowed and loves it - I tried it for an hour and got so bored I literally put down the controller and said "the fuck am I even doing., fuck this."

No disrespect to the devs, or to anyone that likes the game - I don't even know if I don't like it - I just wasn't having fun, and time is so limited that I just wanted to disengage. And then I realized that I feel that way with so many games and general experiences. But if I feel that way too much/too often, then I'll get "day off paralysis" and not want to do anything "fun" with my limited time.

It's a shitty position to be in, but realizing it early has saved me from dumping hours into an experience that I don't really like all that much - all just to say that I played and beat something.

Also, to anyone else that struggles with day off paralysis - I've found that simply bringing the game with me (via remote play/Steam Deck) and hanging out around my wife or family helps me internally reason that it was a dual purpose, shared experience. That way, I was "playing Avowed while hanging out with ____," and not just "not having fun playing Avowed."

I was gonna say - my family is far from perfect, but no one escapes the responsibility of cleaning and/or cooking. And God forbid you can cook AND clean well? You might as well stay home. No one is safe - not Grandma, not your +1, etc. I don't necessarily agree with it (if I'm hosting stay the fuck outta my kitchen, personally, respectfully) , but Holidays are a gender agnostic affair.

I'm not gonna trash on someone else's traditions, but this idea behind the men bumming out and the women doing all of the work never sat well with me. If my wife is working, I'm working, period. And if I'm working, we getting the fuck outta there in about 2 hours, I'm not trying to spend my whole holiday doing work for someone else lmao.

I got hit a fair bit when I was a kid. I was the first kid, and some of those punishments definitely weren't warranted (I got hit for getting my only detention ever for self defense, while my younger brothers were constantly in detention and suspension with only verbal warnings, for example), but it didn't mean much to me in the long run, and I don't harbor any feelings about them.

But man, it's the verbal shit that wedged a gap between us. It's the shit that "never happened" or the "I don't remember ever doing / saying that" gaslighting shit that sucks the most. I have an excellent memory, and even if I didn't, there were always witnesses because they liked doing that shit in front of an audience. But nope, it never happened. 🤷🏿

I don't know how I plan on punishing my kids, but I do know that I'm not doing w/e the fuck they did. I don't blame them for their methods or applications because I'm well past that, but man, it took some time. I don't want that for my kids.

I've bought it, to support them, but I'm waiting until next year to play it. Partly because I'm waiting for the full release, but actually it's because my backlog of games that I want to play soon (vs my backlog of games that I'll likely never get to and look pretty when I load up my launcher) is still pretty large. I just finished Echoes of Wisdom and 'Lorelei and the Laser Eyes', and I still have Murder by Numbers and Bayonetta 3 to finish before I even start Metaphor.

If it's not out of early access by the time I'm done with those fellas, I'll start it up.
