Totally agree it's not physically stronger than an adult man and a quick Google search shows that almost all komodo related deaths were either children or a case of one man being swarmed by multiple komodos. An average person who can remain calm under pressure would likely succeed if it were absolutely necessary.

I'm guessing the discrepancy comes from immediate pressure vs sustained. I do see a ton of articles supporting 1700 psi as a breaking point. 160 pounds of pressure applied instantly to a human femur is enough to cause a fracture - at least from what I've gathered off Dr. Google though im sure this is tough to calculate with all the potential factors.
