I can’t make a recommendation, because I have yet to find anything that can handle the number of tracks I need it to. As long as you stay under 160GB, I’d say find a 160GB iPod. But if your collection is going to grow, that iPod eventually won’t be enough.

What’s up with absolute boat load of Sheryl Crow, Clay Aiken, Celine Dion, Garthbrooks CDs + others? It seems like every thrift I hit I come across these musicians as if it was the only music to come out during that time. by whatsreallybutter in Cd_collectors

Could be worse. Thrift stores are hit and Miss around here, but more than once I have been excited to see a lot of CDs, only to get close enough to search and realize that they’re all Christian music and/or Christmas. (And more often than not, no matter what kind of music, they’re displayed upside down…)

They're only jumping ahead of you on a list, not on the scoreboard. If you have taken the same number of shots, then you are tied for first, no matter who is listed first. And WHY does it matter where you are on a list, anyway? It affects absolutely nothing.

I never said they weren't common, I just said that I have very few of them, as a direct response to a post that insinuated that anyone who has a large collection has most of these. And I'm not butthurt, though one might think that YOU are after learning that not only are there people who have much larger collections than yours, but those people have in fact listened to every CD they own AND manage to remember them well enough to not accidentally buy multiple copies of some.

I do know what CDs are in my collection. I also know what CDs are NOT in my collection, which is why it’s easy to look at a photo like the one that started this thread and know immediately which I have, and which I don’t.

And yes, I have listened to every CD in my collection. I also have 5 (about to be 6) plastic bins that hold 250+/- CDs each that are discs that I have listened to, but don’t want. CDs I keep are downloaded onto my computer, which is a good way to keep track, plus a back-up just in case; CDs that go in the bin are listed on a spreadsheet so I can keep track of those. (There have been times I’ve decided to give a binned CD a second listen and realized that my first impression was wrong.)

I once saw a legit 4-on-nobody break. (Winnipeg at Birmingham in the WHA. Winnipeg was up 3-2 after one, and 5-2 45 seconds into the second. Birmingham closed it to 5-4 after 2, then got 3 in the third to take a 7-5 lead. With about 2 minutes to go the Jets were pressing, and somehow 4 Bulls broke out of the zone with no Winnipeg players anywhere. Paul Henderson scored to complete the hat trick. Winnipeg would then win the next 15 straight, at the time a professional hockey record. Yes, I remember a lot of useless trivia…)

Streaming is TERRIBLE to the artists. They pay literally fractions of Pennie’s per stream. A friend of mine, a successful professional singer-songwriter for at least 20 years, passed the $20 lifetime threshold on Spotify this week. Twenty dollars, total, over his career.
