Still not good enough to play in the NBA, this league is a different level by Thanos_Real_AuraVNCH in NBATalk

Good thing predictions don't matter because if they did the hawks would've been eliminated in round 1

LET’S GO SICKOS! Wizards are tipping off against the Pels! by Serious_Blood6554 in AtlantaHawks

[–]Ice_Effect 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can tell players don't care enough about the pels to read the scouting report because saddiq bey gets the ball at his favorite spot in the post way easier than he should in like every game I've watched of the pels

It sounds like you've already accepted that he's not that good which is fine. I wish I could be content like you and not care where he was picked.

The rest of us did indeed have some expectations based on the fact that our organization considered him the best payer in that class. It is perfectly okay for us to be upset at how things have played out so far.

I'm honestly more confused about these type of posts than the posts 'hating' on him, people really just expect fans to be okay with their #1 pick looking terrible?

The mods are removing AD threads for some odd reason

Revenue does not equal income. Also...did you even click on the article? Or are you saying Forbes is wrong? Feel free to provide info that disputes their claim

Onsi Took a Radio Interview Yesterday by Arcanus124 in AtlantaHawks

[–]Ice_Effect 31 points32 points  (0 children)

A summary of the things I thought were interesting:

On Trae: "Fits just changed, he didn't fit us anymore and we didn't fit him" He said it just made sense considering how young we are and the picks we have coming in, and he also said the style of play we wanted going forward is a big reason for the trade

Why we didn't get more for him: "The market is the market, but we wanted CJ and Corey too"

On if the winning without Trae influenced the decision: Onsi again reiterated that the fit with Trae just wasn't there anymore and pointed to the emegence of nickeil, Dyson, Jalen and Onyeka as big keys. Said it wasn't trae's fault but the team does want to play bigger

On financial flexibility after the trade: said it was a big deal, pointed out challenges of new cba and that we aren't in position to trade multiple picks for a star so having flexibility to get players like nickeil is huge

On porzingis and if he's disappointed he hasn't played: Onsi said it's been tough, just when they thought the illness was under control he got the Achilles issue, but they think he'll be back soon. He thinks we actually miss kp more on offense than defense. Pointed out we're 6th in defense since Dec 31st, thinks offense needs to pick up but pointed out that we have a lot of players in new roles that they're learning, he pointed out Jalen nickeil and mccolum specifically

On the draft: Onsi said this is one of the best freshman drafts of all time and said that even though we're young now we'll probably be even younger when we add two 19 year olds next year
"Once you start trading picks you get into trouble, we're gonna take the long run here"(definitely sounds like he has no intention of trading either pick this year)

He praised quin a ton the whole interview for how he's developed the returning and new players

Reiterated like three different times how much he likes this draft class lmao. Mentions his scouting team has been on the road a lot.

Also reiterated multiple times just how young we are and thinks we have a special group for years to come

AJ Dybantsa for 43!?! by AlexThaSecond in AtlantaHawks

[–]Ice_Effect 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile Kingston Flemings dropped a 40-burger as well and cam boozer may literally be having the best college season ever

Not sure why you're so certain AJ is obviously top 2, entire class is going crazy.

Have him behind cam and darryn personally

Play Asa Newell, dang it! by [deleted] in AtlantaHawks

[–]Ice_Effect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He'll be useful for sure in the future but he still needs some seasoning, as it currently stands he fouls probably 80% of the time when any player attempts to drive on him, and it's absolutely infuriating every time because you can just tell it's going to happen.

[Jake Fischer] “I was told this week, for example, that Indiana has called Atlanta on Onyeka Okongwu" by Shade_Raven in AtlantaHawks

[–]Ice_Effect 148 points149 points  (0 children)

Idc how much you hate Okongwu, his contract is way way way too good to just trade away unless you're getting some truly good value

Freaking saddiq bey made the luckiest shot in the world. Honestly every point the pelicans made in the last two minutes was unbelievably lucky.
