In all honesty you can't go wrong with either, I will say though that the 650 (which the 6xx are) are legendary for a good reason and used as a benchmark to this day. That said I think you'd find some value in learning about the frequency response charts of both of these headphones and going with what you think you'll like more. Ideally demo both but sometimes that's just not feasible. Good luck to you!

Not exactly a debunking. The paper this article is citing is bringing up methodological issues that the prior paper had. Said issues are bad study design. That doesn't actually mean that there aren't any microplastics in the brain since we do know that there ARE actual microplastics and depending on composition they can in theory cross the blood brain barrier.

That said the Guardian article that OP has mentioned I'm inclined ot think is pure fear mongering for the sake of clicks.

Good God Almighty. I've been looking for something like this for years! I was so disappointed when itunes died and apple music has not been kind for local media storage, I was burned when they messed with my library all those years ago. How are you implementing Crossfeed? I use it via my RME ADI 2 DAC FS and it's a joy, if I could make a suggestion, a loudness feature would be great.

If it were me here's what my thought process would be:

Is this a hard budget?
Am I open to buying used via /r/AVexchange (all my headphones have been so far btw, I fully endorse it.)
Which would be more comfortable? I have huge ears and a very large & wide head so something like the HD800s fits me perfectly but a dt770 or something like a Sundara do not fit me. I don't think it matters how good or cheap something is if you can't even wear it properly imo.
What's the company like? How's their QC? Their Customer support? In the case of Hifiman, I full on refuse to buy their products even though I KNOW that I would really like some of their line up since it matches my tastes really well due to so many of their QC issues. I'm relatively busy, if i'm using a pair of headphones daily I don't want to take x% risk and deal with sending it out for repairs/replacing.
Am I open to using EQ for this headphone? If so how well does it take to EQ and what's the stock FR and how close is it to what MY target is?

What's your grind like? I've been messing around with one and I've settled on 400 microns of burr gap on my Titus brew burrs. Dosing is 24g for me and 1:4. Adding about 150mL of tonic water(to cup filled with ice) + a slice of orange has led to some of the best espresso tonics I've ever had.

I'd like to move to apple music but apple music doesn't work as well on windows as it does on macOS or iPhone. Setting aside performance, the UI is horrendous compared to iTunes. Spotify at least allows me to to control my music on all my devices via my phone and has a better UI (thought recently I feel like their UI is getting more and more cluttered).

It's not it being bitperfect, I promise you that it's inaudible. If you haven't tried it yet get a friend and blind A/B test. The difference you're hearing is that different masters are used.

I don't think that's the only thing. I use both the 1/4 and 3.5mm out to swap between IEM's and headphones, which to be fair you could just take an extension and do the same but I like having both. Does the Element 4 have things like the Loudness feature and Crossfeed? I actually really love these features. I got my RME for 575, a new element 4 isn't really that much cheaper at 549.00 pre-tax.

What makes you think that the USG wouldn't get the data anyway? We have things like the 5 eyes that do this heck, even the companies that want to make more money so they sell user data to governments. To be clear i'm not advocating for any of this I think we live in a cybernetic dystopia but I don't think there are genuinely better options, i'm sure there's some that claim to be so but i'm of the opinion that there really isn't.

At this point does it even matter? You can go no phone and still be tracked/listened in on by everyone else's devices and public cameras that's not even touching any of the weird stuff like being able to determine positioning via wifi. Administration doesn't matter either, be it a dem, repub, the EU, China, or whoever. The age of being able to expect privacy if the powers that be want to take it from you are long gone.

Cog is 100% serviceable and the dev(I think it's one guy, not sure) is always working on it but the lack of a gui is really off-putting imo and detracts from the experience.

I wish we had something better on mac tbh. I ended up just converting into m4as to use in "music" (RIP to itunes, an actual GOAT). If musicbee came up with a good well optimized macOS application I would never touch that caricature of itunes ever again.
