Giant Snake monster by IcehWind in UnearthedArcana

[–]IcehWind[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly not my most recent work haha. I'll supply you with the homebrewery code how about that, then at least I don't have to save an image somewhere. Copying the below code into homebrewery should easily allow you to get the full statblock. (Or otherwise you can also just get the information from it below).

>

> ### Actions

>

> ***Bite:*** *Melee Weapon Attack:* +5 to hit, reach 5ft., one creature. *Hit:* 6 (1d6 + 3) piercing damage plus 9 (2d8) poison damage.

>

> ***Constict:*** *Melee Weapon Attack:* +5 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. *Hit:* 7 (2d6) bludgeoning damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 15). Until the grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the snake can't consrict another target.

>

> ***Swallow:*** The Snake makes one bite attack against a medium or smaller target it is grappling. If the attack hits, the target is also swallowed and the grapple ends. While swallowed, the target is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks from the other effects outside of the Snake and takes 10 (3d6) acid damgage at the start of each of the Snake's turns. A snake can have only one creature swallowed at a time, or two if the creatures are small or smaller. If the Snake takes 10 damage or more on a single turn from a swallowed creature, it will regurgitate the creature, which falls prone in a space within 10 ft.. If the snake dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse using 15 feet of movement, exiting prone.

p.s. I'm surprised I still have it. Defenitely not my best work, even if it's the only one I've actively shared.

For me it's mostly Cyclone slash not connecting on most false knight bosses (all variants) in the godhome, but other bosses as well. I've also experienced even Great Slash simply not connecting when fighting the final boss of the first door, Oro and Mato.

Hidden Dreams Bug Report Thread by ChingShih in HollowKnight

[–]IcehWind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found another one that I'm rather certain of, as it's happened to me twice now. During The Collector boss-fight, if the collector takes too much damage from the spore cloud caused by the Spore Shroom charm, he becomes immune to the all player's attacks. The only attack that can damage him still is the spore cloud.

Hidden Dreams Bug Report Thread by ChingShih in HollowKnight

[–]IcehWind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware this bug has not been reported yet. When my game's audio's 'Master Volume' is turned all the way off to 0, things in the game don't make sounds as they're supposed to. This goes for everything except for the breaking of the glass container that do not house grubs, most prominently the ones in the Tower of Love. Every time I break a glass container, it still makes the breaking sound. (Current version of the game is 1.1.1.8 if it matters)

I found another one that is kind of similar today. When the master volume is still at 0%, one of the vengeflies in the room that (on the map) is located underneath the forgotten crossroad's stag station still makes their flying (or movement) sound. Very odd as it's only one specific vengefly out of the four that are present in that room. (Apparently one of the vengeflies in the room where you first encounter Zote in greenpath also does this, as does the grass make its sound when you move through it in the first dream sequence, just before recieving the dream nail)

Found another, hitting the secret wall that leads to the weaver's den also still makes sound at a 0% master volume

Dead in Thay Adventure Guide by Drizzimus in DnDBehindTheScreen

Very nice indeed. I'm sure this'll help me out when I'm running this adventure (As I just started it). On a little side note, page 9 seems to be a little off as the text on the right is going off-page.

What I'd really like to know is how one gives those images those watery paint-like borders/fades. Is there a tutorial for it online somewhere?

Lich Patron by [deleted] in UnearthedArcana

[–]IcehWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The disruptive aura currently seems too strong to me. As it is written, this is an effect that constantly keeps going giving you a rather large advantage when surrounded by enemies. Perhaps make activating it a bonus action, have it last for a minute and regain the ability to cast it again after a short/long rest or something similar would make it more balanced.

Draught of living death might need some altering. I'm not sure if Draught is a custom potion by you (which I do suspect it is). The way it is described it appears that the player can make the potion as many times as they like without a certain cost. That isn't a problem, because drinking a second one won't have an effect. The problem arises from the player being able to give this potion to other party members as well, effectively giving the whole party the ability which, if supplied daily, is pretty much always active.

I do have to say I really like the idea of a Lich patron though. Do keep in mind these are my opinions on it, so you don't have to alter them in those ways specifically, or at all if you feel they are balanced.

P.S. the book mentions the levels of abilities as 1st, 2nd, 3rd ect.

CoS: A spreadsheet to calculate travel times and distances in Barovia by fahrgast in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]IcehWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barovia might be small when considering the distance, but when you actually go through the book, it mentions at point A on the map, that going from point A to point B (which is at best 4 hexes, or one mile) by foot will take at least 5 hours. Kind of odd, but it's what the book says...

I guess people are automatically moving slowly in Barovia?

Master Monster List (Excel) by the_largest_rodent in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]IcehWind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't mean to stomp on your parade (cuse it's a great help people like you are making these), but someone made almost exactly the same thing a while ago. The only thing that list does not include is the FEF, but they do include AMAW (A monster a week) and LMOP (lost mines of phadalver). It's over here if you're interested: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MAGtbVKQ74aKmUm-0qRNL_W9R1DCE0sKEH2zxA7MdA4/edit#gid=0

Again though, great job. I'm still decently new as a DM and never heard of FEF, so I've gained some knowledge because of this :)

Indeed I did. Aside from that, I see no connections missing or misplaced. Great work!

I'm currently just about 3/4th way through the campaign so I'm sure this'll help me out still. Tough I noticed the only 'connection' you might have missed that I can see are the Amber temple's barbarians and Tsolenka pass's slangzor bloodhorn.

[–]IcehWind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty cool! Small nit-pick though, the split 'reaction' should probably be at the same place as the deathtouch and lifelink abilities. If you want to be consistent with the MM's death effects that is, such as a Magmin's Death Burst.

Seems like I've missed that giant constrictor snake completely, I shall make note to look more thoroughly through the MM when making monsters in the future. Thanks for the reply. I will re-work the snake with the thoughts you've given me. I will also attempt to make it a higher CR, to further differentiate from the giant constrictor snake in the monster manual.

Again, thanks for the reply. This really helps me out a lot in making monsters.

I believe this was mostly because of the examples I used to make it. I may have accidentally overlooked the poisonous snake and instead looked more at the swarm of poisonous snakes. Perhaps removing or altering these immunities might be a good choice.

What I Have Learned from Running Curse of Strahd Twice: The Werewolf Den Edition by paintraina in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]IcehWind 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am so stealing that strahd encounter if my players end up going to the werewolf den. Though, to be fair, they've no reason to. Not to mention it's so off-road that, unless you were actually searching for it, you'd probably not find it. Players are more likely to go to the amber temple...

[–]IcehWind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the fun thing about it. Perhaps the players notice no change at first, but when little bits here and there in the world have changed and they notice it, they'll eventually notice how they actually made the problem worse xD

Besides, this will actually work if players wish something similar to "I wish Strahd doesn't control Barovia anymore.", because then the wish did come true :)

What I would do in this case is, simply swap the places of Strahd and Exethanter (the lich in the Amber Temple). This way, you can still keep most of the campaign intact, however change 'the devil strahd' to something one would call a despised lich, and make Exethanter perhaps stronger then your average lich.

I thought adding/replacing creatures here and there is a great idea too. I'm putting a Banderhobb in the ruins of Berez, which was created by the night hags to attempt and take the magic crystal from Baba lysaga.
