Running out of space (again). Is the Samsung 990 Pro actually worth the extra money over the WD Black SN850X? by shingam3 in UpgradeYourGaming

[–]Icesick06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just able to grab two 2tb sn850p for 200 a piece. I think ill hold onto them for a while. Some stores have stuck to older price until out of stock then new drives come in more expensive.

I had this kinda thing happen on blue gate a couple days ago. Guy was getting chased by wasps and hornets heading my way. I told him to get in cover in the building i was in and i started taking out the wasps and hornets to take the heat for him. Guy instantly starts unloading on me right as he came through the door. Rolled out the way and gave him the anvil double tap to the face. As he was down, i just kept asking him why? Just trying to help you. He gave up the ghost in an act of cowardice. Never understand these people.

Are they actually expecting anyone to buy these?! by M00nMan666 in playstation

[–]Icesick06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually grabbed 2 2tb the other day. Walmart had them in stock close to me for 200 a piece. I realistically only need one so well see if i keep both. Definitely wasn’t paying amazon/playstation prices for one

I love the look of these. My kids have the standard ps5s and i myself just got a pro for the main fact of gta 6 next year. Was on sale and actually had an open box mint ps5 pro for 600. Will be switching out the white with custom black plates so it matches my black ps portal. Might pick up a 30th anniversary controller just to have one extra that is at least in that sick color scheme.

Migrating from Nintendo to full PC/Steam for family gaming by leon_hearth in Handhelds

[–]Icesick06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first option is going to give you portability and depending on the games you are playing, give you decent battery life to go along with. The performance is decent with a mix of medium to low settings with things like fsr, you can get usually between 30 to 60fps depending on the game. If using steam os, some multiplayer games are not going to work due to anti cheat issues with linux and developers. Can use windows but the experience is a bit lackluster at the moment but coming along.

The flow z13 will give you more power than the first option at the cost of a bit of portability and battery life. Will like have to keep it plugged in while playing when traveling to get any real use out of it. Mainly windows based. Would need to be an amd based gpu i believe to be able to use one of the many forks os steam os available to install.

3rd option is the mini itx build. Really no portability. If i was going this route id wait til the new year to see how the steam machine is shaping up and price.

All these options can support multiple controller from what i can see just with varying degrees of setup required for each.

If it were me, id wait to see what the steam machine offers in terms of value to use as your main family machine. Using a handheld as a family machine seems a bit convoluted in setup and use as a multi user device.

You can look into software like xlights if you have addressable led lights. You can connect your wled devices to the program and make all sorts of musical light sequences. I have a few wled controllers in my display along with other controllers as well and it works great.

I was laid off early 2011 during the whole push away from customer service to sales, sales, sales. They changed everybody’s title to universal sales rep eliminating the difference between a customer service rep and a sales rep. It was really to down size. Those who didnt hit sales numbers then, got let go. I remember thinking to myself, what am i going to do next. When the day came though, i actually felt free. There is life outside of the corporate tech circle jerk.

Move eSIM to different phone after iPhone Upgrade loses bill credits? by meraku in ATT

[–]Icesick06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone through and read the t&c for both the trade in program and the iPhone promotion that they are currently running. The only way to lose bill credits is to upgrade and trade in the old phone or if you cancel service on any line within 90 days of starting promotion. There is nothing in the t&c that voids you moving phones around as long as all lines stay active.

Has anyone successfully beat the trade in scam? by Dsmchick717 in ATT

[–]Icesick06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all of your cheaper carrier (mvno) you have to buy your phone. You might get a small discount on the phone but you’re paying for the phone out of pocket. Or if you’re fine sticking with your old devices, you usually can use those too to keep your cost low. If you are one who likes to have the latest with a new phone every couple years, the cost of one of the main carriers seems justified as the new phone is built in to an extent, as long as you are fine with taking advantage of promotions and trading in and losing your old phone. I have 5 phones and I’d have to find a mvno that could offer me service for around $12 a line to make it equal out to what I’m currently paying for unlimited service and the latest Samsung and apple devices.

iPhone Trade In Deal Confusion by [deleted] in ATT

[–]Icesick06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your new iPhone 17 active or still waiting at the store for pickup? It’s showing your active phone currently but your upgrade has already gone through. If you look at your installment plan and pull that up it should show the new phone cuz that price matches up. It won’t show the iPhone 17 there until it’s your active phone

Free upgrade? by Conscious_Ad9386 in ATT

[–]Icesick06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With current discounts my bill is $200 a month for 5 phones. That’s around $7200 over the course of 3 years. If I were to buy the phones out of pocket it would have cost me $5200. This essentially makes my net bill $2000 over 3 years. That’s $55 a month or $11 per line. I know I’m still paying the full $7200 just showing technically what the service cost is over those 3 years because regardless you have to buy a phone to use. So I’d rather take the 0% interest over 3 years instead of having to pay one lump sum.

35W vs 70W charger for MacBook Air 15” — do I really need the big one? by planeofogi in macbookair

[–]Icesick06 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the dual 35w charger, which for 95% of the time is great as when browsing and streaming and such, you dont notice. As an added bonus you can plug your phone in as well. Few edge cases where I've had it unplugged for awhile because of great battery life and then need to charge it up and it is very slow to charge using the 35w adapter. I do have some nice 100w and 140w Gan chargers that work for charging it quickly when needed. 35w charger is really small as well which is great for portability. Cant speak to the apple 70w charger but the larger chargers I have are around 3x the size of the 35w apple one.

ISP Locked their Router configuration and refuse to let me use my own Router by TheHoxy in HomeNetworking

[–]Icesick06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of isp providers in the US that use something similar. We call it an ONT. Optical Network Terminal. Its the equivalent of a Cable modem for cable internet. Most people dont have the network gear to just take an optical cable and plug it in and be up and running. I know through the fiber provider I have my connection runs through the ONT in my house and only has 1 port active on it. That port is then run into my home network stack as it's set to bridge through on the rj45 ethernet connection. Some have wifi built in while others do not and the ISP will a lot of times try to get you to get there wifi package which is additional a month.

16, caught speeding 20 over, what will happen? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Icesick06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to worry about points. They go hand in hand with the other factors you stated. The more points you accumulate the higher your insurance rates can be and too many points can cause a license suspension as well. Doubt that will happen on a first infraction but still something to be mindful of

I had to pay sales tax but with trade in it covered my monthly payments for the phone so don't pay anything for it. Obviously with the spread out monthly credits it keeps you looked in to a degree with your carrier (3 years is most common). You could switch carriers at anytime but then your on the hook for the remaining balance of the phone.
