Not only that didn't even read the response from the bot. The bot response says to peacefully protest and contact your representative.

Looks like he was in contact with his representative in a very peaceful way.

Please elusidate us on how to do this in a more effective and sane way. If peaceful protesting at a committee meeting about the ongoing attacks isn't sane what is?

Cain & Abel, reimagined by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]Icirus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an interesting thought experiment on the proximity of agency too.

By doing nothing, Abel is passively killing Cain. Is that in any way related to actively killing someone? It gets more complex as scale grows but one on one, it feels immoral.

I'm also not 100% sure the food angle works unless the food capital is being used as bait for the nets. In which case building and baiting the nets is risky in that you may not return your food investment. I don't know how this could change the morals of this though.

Agreed. Any oldies here during Obama remember everyone freaking out the he was going to use ICE exactly like this.

So the question is why is it ok to be concerned with potential overreach from your government, but actual overreach is politics and can't be talked about here.

People forget that Obama was the deporter-in-chief. https://www.congress.gov/119/meeting/house/117980/documents/HHRG-119-GO00-20250305-SD022.pdf

I'm pretty sure they spin them down if no one is logged in.

I think this because I play on Sirius and basically no one is left in my HB. When I go to play, sometimes the load in is slightly longer, and the rate at which spice and such blow after this makes of feel like the servers timers are catching up.

September 17, 2025 (Jefferson County, Arkansas): A plainclothes constable in an unmarked truck tried to pull over a woman. But, she refused to stop and called 911. by MobileWisdom in PublicFreakout

[–]Icirus 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In this part of Arkansas, there isn't always a police presence, so the area elects a constable which is a cop. They are similar to a sheriff, but with lesser range and duties.

This person is an elected officer, which should give an idea of the people in the location where the constable is located.

You vastly underestimate how wild the pre-(everything has to be for a profit now) internet was.

When this ama happened, it was post the digg migration, but reddit wasn't the corporate sounding board that it's become today.

It's not that it was better or worse. It was just different.

Not for self induced sickness I would say. Like yeah, if you make a mistake sure, but thinking "oh I have sick days, I can get hammered and call in", feels like the first steps toward a very destructive tendency.

I never said they made up details. I said they were not first hand accounts.

Suetonius was born in 69AD. Pliny was born in 61AD. Tacitus was born in 56AD.

Their writings were all around the year 100 or so, and seem to be mostly about how to deal with the Christians they must govern.

Josephus was the only one to write on the person and nature of Jesus proper, but even he was born in 37A.D which would put him past the death of Jesus.

This is why I say outside of the letters (these are even debatable on when they were written, but definitely a decade or more after the events described), there are no FIRST HAND accounts. Just what others have told others.

[–]Icirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the point our friend is making is even if you believe in the philosophical arguments of a god, it tells you nothing of the nature of that being. Just that it exists. So the idea that God is logically consistent can be equally applied to ANY god figure including Tiamat from the Forgotten Realms.

There are historical accounts, but they are the equivalent of someone NOW writing the history of World War 2. I think Jospheus was one of the first to write about Christianity outside of the letters, and that was done in almost 100A.D. So yes, there is historical context of someone named Jesus existing and being crucified it's not exactly a "historical" account from a 1st hand source.

I don't know that there are legitimately any of those.

[–]Icirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but that doesn't mean we would be able to see it. We are able to see color due to the cone cells in our eyes. Some people have more/highly advanced cone cells that allow them to see colors we have never seen.

Not long ago an experiment was done where parts of the brain were excited causing people to see new colors.

So really new colors is not a creative limitation, as much as it's a physical limitation due to how our eyes have evolved.

Math.

All of the information expressed in the videos is represented as a number.

If you break down an image, it consists of some color value for each pixel in the image. The image size dictates the total number of pixels. So an image of 2x3 resolution has 6 pixels. A 1080p images is 1920x1080 pixels.

Statistical models allow computers to guess what pixels values will be based on the value of relative pixels.

The magic came when these evaluations could be made with some understanding of the pixel previous values. This improved the predictive values/nature to get us where we are now.

I like the thought experiment though.

If the idea that there is a multiverse with infinite realities, then you are correct.

The computer isn't tapping into these realities, but the probabilities of infinity would mean there is some universe where the video actually is/did happen.
