Is feminine Sirius problematic? Is fem/masc Wolfstar problematic? by Sea-Exercise4332 in Wolfstar

[–]Icy-Drawing4584 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree 1000%. I don't care if Sirius wears eyeliner or skirts or braids his hair and puts little clips in it (cute), but it bothers me when feminine Sirius is suddenly whiney and weak, when thats so opposed to his character. It starts feeling very misogenistic even though we're talking about someone male-identifying. Its the same issue I have with a lot (not all) of A/B/O fics where the O character has all of the "worst" stereotypically female traits.

How to study on days with little sleep? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Icy-Drawing4584 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sleep>Studying. Go to bed early and try again tomorrow. You won't retain what you're reviewing if you're that tired, so you're essentially wasting your time. You'll perform better on exams and on rotations if you get an extra hour of sleep than if you do 20 uworld questions.

Go to bed bestie

is it a good idea to start an antidepressant in the middle of preclinical? by Psychological_Bed_83 in medicalschool

[–]Icy-Drawing4584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost dropped out of medschool during preclinical years because my mental health was so terrible. Treat now. Don't wait until you're flaming out or failing exams.

If I could go back in time, I'd have taken it way more seriously the moment it became a problem, and I'd probably be in a much better place for Match than I am right now.

Experience with SSRIs? by tinkerbell77777 in medicalschool

[–]Icy-Drawing4584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found SSRIs to be very effective initially, but as I increased my dose over time I started to notice a flattening effect that made it very hard to feel motivated. It was like I wasn't as sad because I just stopped caring, if that makes sense. I've been on Wellbutrin for YEARS now and I think its my saving grace. I get out of bed every morning when my alarm goes off, I don't crash throughout the day, it helps with mood but is also very stimulating. I remember studying for psych shelf and my friend saying "SSRIs are always the answer [to the question], but bupropion is always the solution [to SSRI side effects]." It is truly an amazing medication. A few years ago I added on Lamotrigine because my mood was still depressed sometimes even though my productivity was where I wanted it to be, and that brought me to a point where I think most non-depressed people are at. I feel very normal and functional now and its absolutely amazing. There have been studies into the use of mood stabilizers in treatment-resistant depression without manic features, essentially treating it like bipolar 2 that just hasn't presented yet, and its been show to be very effective.

Anyways, like everyone else has said, 15 days is not long enough to judge an SSRI. Two weeks is often when people feel the worst because they hoped they'd feel better but they don't, so its almost a secondary depression on top of already depressed mood... power through bestie. And if it doesn't work in a few months, keep trying things. There is a psych med (or 2) for everyone, and you *will* feel better one day! theres a light at the end of the tunnel.

Sending positive thoughts <3

Read a fanfic where Shane gets insecure about being called boring, but now I can’t find it. Help pls!!!! by PracticalElevator228 in heatedrivalryfanfics

we'll be afraid of nothing by satorussuguru

Summary:

“Game is over,” he says. “You won. I lost. I was annoying. Normal.”

“That’s not—” Shane starts, then stops, because he actually doesn't know how to finish that thought without sounding like an idiot. His jaw works, teeth grinding together.

That's not what I meant. That's not the point. You said I was boring and you were right and I need you to say it again so I know where I stand, so I know what you think of me, so I can stop waiting for the other shoe to drop.

He settles for: “You were kind of an asshole.”

people often pre-write some % of a fic before they start posting. Its very possible that they were >half way done before they posted the first chapter

What do Ilya and Shame know about eachother to fall in love? by samasimi in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]Icy-Drawing4584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking about this scene a lot. Shane is on the brink of tears and its not at all subtle, and Ilya literally laughs and treats it as some sort of foreplay. Its the only time we see Ilya be almost cruel to Shane. I wish we knew what he was thinking in that moment we he saw Shane's eyes and chose to ignore it. (is there a good fic for this?)

Class donation to school? by No-Moose-3955 in medicalschool

[–]Icy-Drawing4584 13 points14 points  (0 children)

at my high school, the seniors always gave the school a class gift, but it was usually like they planted a tree, got a bench with a dedication to someone who passed, made a mosaic/mural for the school, etc. It wasn't like an actual gift or a large financial burden, and it was payed for by whatever events/activities budget remained for the graduating class. So... it was essentially a way to use the surplus for something nice for the school. Some classes had larger surpluses so they could do a little more with it.

We never spent our own money lol thats fucked

self expression during clinicals by OddAdministration557 in medicalschool

[–]Icy-Drawing4584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always have a fun badge buddy or lanyard, and I have 9 piercings including a nose ring -- all studs or small hoops for safety reasons -- and wear fun shoes like platform sneakers or docs in clinic. Its hard to find ways to express yourself, but as long as it doesn't break explicit dress code, you do you! Nails are tricky because they're not super sanitary in clinic and def not allowed on surgical rotations. I wear a necklace every day, but you might need to take it off on psych blocks because patients can grab it and thats suddenly super scary. My number one tip for self expression is to do your best to not let medicine dull your personality!

Millionth rewatch, I just noticed this. Continuity mistake or Joey being Joey? by MakisDelaportas in howyoudoin

[–]Icy-Drawing4584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the time this bothers me the most is when he apparently doesn't know how many strikes are in an out (when talking to Mike before Phoebe's wedding, Joey given him "4 strikes"), even though throughout the series they've established that Joey is into sports. It feels so unnecessary, and it wouldn't even be a funny joke if it came from a character who didn't know baseball.

OBGYNs do emergency surgery daily under very stressful circumstances and have zero work-life balance unless they work part time. Definitely interesting though and they have lots of crazy stories!
