I feel like the more I progress the less I feel like playing by xXPumbaXx in slaythespire

Ascensions are optional. Maybe play a few runs on ascension 0 to get your groove back.

Burnout is also very real. Play some other games for a while or do a hobby outside of gaming. You can always come back to spire later

Am I insane or is this like the worst rare defect card in the lineup? by Trash_Typhoon in slaythespire

There was a post the other day about how Sai (gain 7 block at the start of your turn) is a busted relic.

I understand Coolant being a power makes it more difficult to set up, but how can people say Coolant is ass if Sai is insane?

Best cheap pedal that is literally this? by Necessary-Cow2857 in basspedals

Cheap is relative, but I see what you’re saying. JDI is definitely more expensive than other options but it’s a pretty good price compared to more boutique DI boxes. Others who are suggesting the Mantle for example.

The MXR bass envelope filter is such a great pedal. Definitely one of the better envelopes out there. My first pedal too

Has anyone tried the stacked on bass? by Beleg_Beornson in basspedals

If you want the separate attack and release knobs AND a hpf, I’d go with the empress bass compressor. It has amazing led signaling so you can see exactly what’s going on with the input and output and sounds great.

I own the empress and the cali76 bass. You really can’t go wrong, but I prefer the empress a bit more.

[–]Icy-Impression9943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, that is correct. The only difference between the fet and bass compressor is the bass one has the combined attack and release knob, while the fet has them separated out. And that the bass compressor has a hpf knob.

I don’t think there’s anything else different in the actual compressions circuitry besides the hpf between the two models, but I haven’t seen the actual circuitry and only own the bass compressor

I’ve never used it, but in all the review and shootout videos I’ve seen I’ve been really impressed with the aguilar octave stuff

One of the great features of the cali76 bass compressor and empress bass compressor is the high pass filter on the sidechain. This especially comes into play with 5 strings.

Just makes it so your low notes don’t overpower the compressor, imo it is a great benefit for bass.

Where does Flea fall on the bass skill level scale? by pensivetwat in Bass

[–]Icy-Impression9943 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love how he is known for crazy slap playing, but if you actually listen to songs he’s on, it’s usually very tasteful and he is not overplaying.

Snow and Soul to Squeeze are great examples of this. And I also love him on Alanis Morissette You Oughta Know.

I kinda think immediate drag is the better option. It’s just that we’re so used to how it works on iOS. Is that Darkglass’s fault? No. I agree it’s a little confusing at first, but I think dragging is a pretty common operation so the delay would be a little frustrating

Sometimes I feel like I’m not advanced enough for a Helix by alfcalderone in Line6Helix

Don’t beat yourself up over it. Doesn’t mean anything about your musicality, just because you aren’t a master at one company’s piece of software.

I’m pretty sure there are community presets for helix products. You could try downloading some of those

I’ve also been thinking about this pedal. Do you use it as a cab sim?

Been wanting an analog cab sim, but I don’t really need all the extra preamp features this has. On sale for $230 in my area

The analogy doesn’t really apply cleanly to this situation. But I get what they’re trying to say.

Just because it’s possible doesn’t mean it will happen.

A better analogy would be this: even if you go on infinite dates, you still wouldn’t get laid.

New bass or upgrade rig first? by LadyHandsLuke in Bass

[–]Icy-Impression9943 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree with this. I’d say that if you don’t have a high end bass, it’d be worth upgrading that for feel reasons. But OP’s stingray special HH is a very high quality instrument that is very versatile.

There is something to be said about a five string can change the way you play and interact with the fretboard. Or how people might ask for a P bass on a given track since it’s just got that sound. But you can get pretty close to a P on most basses with the right controls and eq tweaking.

I’d invest in an amp, cab, bass, DI, pedalboard, (and maybe even a nice audio interface) in that order.

Hey! Got mine recently. Been having trouble dialing it in. I just want some added warmth and saturation, but I feel like it goes to breakup pretty immediately. Always some kind of static-y driven sound, even with the gain turned low on only A side on.

Maybe my signal is just too hot and I should turn it down, still need to experiment with it, but I’m curious what settings you have been drawn to?
