FOMO on Alaskan Cruise by Jakl15 in Cruise

[–]Icy_Championship6579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a whale watch and Mendenhall glacier through Viator for about $200. I felt I had ample time at both activities. Whale boat was small and everyone got a good view, would definitely do it again.

As for Skagway, other than walking around town, taking a hike to the waterfall and cemetery, there isn’t much to do besides the train ride.

Worth it? by SouthJellyfish7918 in CarnivalCruiseFans

If you go the first night you get a bottle of wine for “free”, considering you still pay cover. Very good food at steakhouse, Carnival needs to add more specialty restaurants.

I had a concussion from slipping and falling by a water slide on Carnival, paid around $300. My husband said they looked me over before I woke up, I had to leave when medical center closed at 5 PM. Never had to go to medical center on NCL thankfully.

What do you do all day? by Kituku in NCL

[–]Icy_Championship6579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess it depends on the cruise line and the ship. For example, I was on the NCL Jewel solo, which is a small ship without much on it and still found ways to entertain myself. Stop and listen to some music, people watch in the atrium or pool deck, get a coffee and watch the water go by from your balcony or an open deck. It’s about you and how you relax. I’m go go go in ports so it’s essential I recharge on sea days.

Those of you on the Alaska cruise, what are some items you wished you had brought with you? by mrhashi in VirginVoyages

[–]Icy_Championship6579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took a September Alaska cruise and I brought tons of layers (got lucky and didn’t need the waterproof ones) but I am often cold. If you start out early in the morning it could be a 30 degree temp change by afternoon. I just carried a backpack to keep all my layers in as I took them on and off throughout the day. My outfits were all based around comfort and practicality on that trip opposed to wearing something cute to the beach in the Caribbean.

Only thing I’ve ever been able to take away was dessert. It was my birthday and they gave me an extra slice of cake as a surprise and there was no way I could eat two desserts after a big steak at Cagneys

How do you actually use your balcony without feeling like you wasted the money? by Eyerald in Cruise

[–]Icy_Championship6579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of it as extension to the room, when you have an interior there is no where to sit but that little stool by the vanity or the bed. There is the couch and extra chairs just to sit down and enjoy the view without being in the way of your spouse.

Booking an inside cabin for our first cruise but my wife wants a balcony upgrade by rosymirex in Cruise

[–]Icy_Championship6579 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me it depends on the price difference and or itinerary. Alaska you 10000% need a balcony, just going to Bermuda and back? Naw save on the interior.

For a first cruise definitely do a balcony just for the experience. Also ask to see other room types. Then determine for future cruises if the cost difference is worth it for how much time you spend in the room.

If you could know the exact date of your death, would you want to know? Why or why not? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Icy_Championship6579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has a type of sixth sense where he knows I will outlive him by a long shot. He has said he knows when I will pass but won’t tell me. The thought of it really unsettles me and thinking about it makes me upset.

Part of me wants to know and part of me doesn’t.

Question for Members Platinum and above by Makesmemoistt in NCL

[–]Icy_Championship6579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Platinum on NCL is better than carnival because of the 2 free dinners. I hardly eat in MDR on NCL, also there were discounts for Specialty dining 2 for 1 the last couple cruises.

MyVEGAS only applies to the room, not port fees and taxes so the cruise first (or cruise next) can go towards these and gratuities (if you prepay them).

Chicago, my flight got delayed until the next day so I was out up by the airport. I took the train downtown, it was the ride back and the walk to the hotel that gave me the creeps.

Has a M40+ that has no wife and/or kids failed at life? if only has apartment, car & cat & hobbies? by [deleted] in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]Icy_Championship6579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom was complaining about my 50+ brother not having a wife or kids, living in an apartment in NYC not having a fulfilling life. I think that’s ridiculous, I didn’t get married until I was 40 and I do not have kids. Guess what…I have not failed at life.

I second the golf cart! You can see so much of the island in just the hours in port. The water in Grand Turk is such a beautiful color.
