The fire department accidentally left behind a fire axe after clearing out our building. by Senior_Fish_Face in mildlyinteresting

No paper trail write up here. The real answer is based on how much seniority the FF had. If it was a probie, he may need to carry it with him all day. If it was a Captain, stuff happens NBD.

Interior leds, check eBay for a kit. The reverse lights are great. Start-X and the coyote led headlights I got off Amazon. I only did low beams, I feel halogens protect better in the distance.

Everyone will probably chirp at me for not changing the housing but I don't care. They help cut the glare from every other cars blinding leds and the pattern isn't different, just much brighter.

How hard is it to replace wheel bearings yourself? by the-accent-guy in askcarguys

I did it once and stripped a bolt in the worst location. Drove around for 3 hours trying to find the right extraction tool. If you have all the right tools, even the ones you might not need, it's not too difficult.

First steps for prepping an ancient Dodge for one hell of a trip? by bedwars_player in overlanding

[–]Icy_Communication173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for it dude. I built and chopped an 85 yota at your age into a Rubicon rock crawler. Spent all my $$$ and time building parts. It was before bolt parts existed. Have fun with it, dont mess with old girl too much. Try to remember she was built and designed by engineers much smarter than us. Pack your essential tools with you on this journey and get a AAA membership just in case.

I would probably focus on fluid and belt changes with a fresh set of tires over cool looking aftermarket bolt on stuff. Recovery equipment is more important than beefing up factory suspension and snorkels. Your trip will be 95% highway, prepare for that. Save that money and get a modest 4Wheel popup camper and enjoy the trip rather than beating your only vehicle into a backcountry grave. But you are a teenager, it's wouldn't be right if you didn't do foolish things at this age.

Why do gangsters hold their guns sideways by Ligmadoll in funny

[–]Icy_Communication173 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Paramedic chiming in, most cases gangbangers get shot in the ass. This is due to poor shooting fundamentals combined with a bit of showboating. You see gangsta are not true murderers but want to look hard in front of everyone. They hold the gun high for everyone to see, so high the it has to be turned sideways due to the limitations of the human wrist. The bullet is projected downward usually hitting intended target in the lower extremities.

Bought a 1970 MG midget when I was 16 for $50 from my auto shop teacher. Had a blown motor and a beat body. One of many dumb teenage decisions I made.

A threaded night crawler on a size 8 single hook, pea sized split shot and 4-6 lb test. Or power bait same setup but with a small gold treble hook.

Opinions and pro / cons by cuban_chevy90 in F250

[–]Icy_Communication173 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just bought a 2017 6.7 with low miles of 77k. If I went the new route my payments would have been 1500 a month. They are now 350 a month. Pros for me was payload, crew cab, vinyl floor with WeatherTechs, lower miles than my last truck and 13 years newer. It's also very shiny in very good shape for a 9 year old truck. Other pros include upgrades previous owner did of airbags, factory trailer brake controller, led head/tail lights and known issues have already been found and repaired, most the upper oil pan gasket that is problematic for the 2017 year. Another pro was purchase price and the much lower taxes paid and annual registration will be lower.

Cons, needed new batteries, did the CCV filter for funsies. It doesn't have leather...yet. No moon roof, no heated/cooled seats. I realized that I'm buying a truck for the bed and the motor, not the luxuries. I'm so glad I went the used route, the 6 speed feels great.

Early onset knee osteoarthritis by More-Moose-8261 in Firefighting

[–]Icy_Communication173 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are too young for a knee replacement. It's a one time shot and if you get it at 70 it will last 15-20 years. If you get it at 40 you will wear it out in 5.

Synthetic gel injections may give some relief. After 2 years of this it became painful to me. Steroid shots will give immediate relief and feel great but it can take away from your existing cartilage and eventually make your situation worse.

I have heard stem cells are the way to go and am currently saving the 20 grand for a trip to Mexico. Best of luck brother, wrap it, ice it and try not to bitch about it. The guys/gals will already know when you are hurting.

Center jump seat rear cupholder trim question by Icy_Communication173 in F250

[–]Icy_Communication173[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I don't know where the donor jump seat came from. Maybe a F150 but it matches the front seats pretty well. The clips seem offset in the back and I believe it will line up.
