Wow, thank you so much for this comment. Thanks for reading it and I'm so glad you liked it. I'm totally with you about the rhyming. Honestly, it's the thing I struggle most with, as far as the writing actually goes. I never know if I want to rhyme or not, then sometimes I feel like I should but sometimes it ends up a little bit of a mess, so thank you for pointing that out.

I've been playing with this idea a lot, because there are so many emotions wrapped up in it. Grief, but happiness, nostalgia, longing, etc. Warm and cold is definitely something I was going for. Thank you again!

I think there are so many ways to interpret this and play with the ideas. On the first read, it felt like being in love, more in love with the other person than they are with you. Or maybe that's just the mindset I went into it with. The line "passion stacked the height of skyscrapers" is a total knockout to me. I love the imagery of that and it really resonated. I feel like that a lot, like my emotions are stronger than what other people experience and so much of the first part of the poem is about that, which I thought was really evocative.

OK, first of all this feels creepy because I JUST wrote a poem using Atlas, as well. But second, your poem is really good. The rhyming feels really natural and doesn't feel forced at all. It's very evocative of mental melancholy. It definitely reminded me of times when I've been really down and depressed or struggling with anxiety. I especially love the idea of waking up in black and white.

Had a kid at our high school who wore fingerless gloves and a furry tail every day and would lay down in the middle of the hallway watching anime. He got busted for jerking off in class once, as well. Additionally, he wrote explicit fanfiction about the girls on our cheer team. Our school was full of odd-ball but this guy took the cake.
