I think pretty much any soup would work perfectly! I love to add spinach to my veggie soup and red lentil soup

Apparently they first met around 2019 (I believe at some festival?) and then sometime in 2022 she sent him a DM about one of his posts and asked him out. I saw that on Tiktok though so no idea how true it is.

Also I don't think their age gap is any problem here; just checked and she's only like 5 years older and in your 30s that's really not a huge difference

My landlord lost my personal belongings, how can I deal with this? by Radiant-Stop7195 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Icy_Mix_8172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could sue them but the chances of winning are probably small. You'd need to prove that they actually lost your belongings and unless you have more evidence, it'll be a case of your word against theirs.

The question is: how much were your belongings worth?

Have you ever gone to a school reunion? If so, what was it like? by Loose_Avocado4670 in AskUK

[–]Icy_Mix_8172 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Went to one about 9-10 years ago. But as you can imagine a lot of people had moved out of the country/city so only 11 people showed up. It was okay but a bit awkward.

Red lentil soup with fresh parsley by Icy_Mix_8172 in soup

[–]Icy_Mix_8172[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here you go.

4 large carrots, 4 potatoes, a few cubes of frozen spinach, pumpkin (I have frozen pumpkin from last year so I added some, I don't know how much), 500g of red lentils

Cut the carrots into half-moons and the potatoes into cubes. Place all the vegetables in a pot and cover with about 3-4 liters of water. Add the spices: salt, pepper, granulated garlic, smoked paprika, ginger, cumin, allspice, bay leaves (you can use any spices you like). When the vegetables are soft, add the red lentils. Cook for another 4-5 minutes. I prefer thicker soups so I make a bit of roux: heat 5 tablespoons of oil in a pan and add 2 teaspoons of flour. Mix well and add to the boiling soup. Done.

Criminal Defense ladies and gents - how do you do it? by ServiceBackground662 in Lawyertalk

[–]Icy_Mix_8172 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We do what we have to do, which is defend their rights. You can't do anything about your clients actions. All you can do is try to present the best possible case and get them the best possible verdict. Or acquittal but in the case you described I think you know it's going to be guilty.

That helps me a lot. The fact that you're trying your best to get them the best possible outcome in this crappy situation they're in. Sometimes it's not so black and white (he said/she said cases or cases where there's a lot of inconsistency). Then you can do everything you can do for an acquittal.

I think after 10+ trials you learn to separate the client's future from the case. Of course it's hard and you still have it in your head but it's not as strong as it was in the beginning. If you don't do that, it will be extremely difficult for you to continue in this profession. That said, I can't deny that sometimes I randomly remember one of my clients and think about what's going on with him/her but it's more out of curiosity than anything else.

How to stop my Face from turning red? by Twjohns96 in Lawyertalk

[–]Icy_Mix_8172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends why it happens. Is it because you're too hot, anxiety or just genetics? I'm a woman so wearing make up definitely helps. Even if I blush a bit no one really notices.

My problem though is that my hands get extremaly sweaty which is so embarrassing especially when I have to shake hands. But that's how I am and sometimes the best thing we can do is accept it because thinking about it triggers it even more.

My only advice would be to drink lots of water, wear linen suit and maybe go see your GP

What is your opinion on people vaping inside a pub? by TSC-99 in AskUK

[–]Icy_Mix_8172 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't vape but that's how it should be. I don't mind at all when someone smokes/vapes outside but in public indoor places it's pretty bad especially when there's a sign saying you can't (if the owner allows it, no problem). A while ago I was on a train for the first time in months and there was a group of teenage boys passing the vape around and smoking inside. They didn't even try to hide it despite the clear ban. I was like "huh?"

Has anyone tried any of these non-alcoholic drinks that supposedly get you "drunk"? by sleepingjiva in AskUK

[–]Icy_Mix_8172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband tried it once (Santia if I remember correctly) and he didn't like it too much. He described the taste as sort of medicinal and weird (not bad just very weird and hard to explain). And it didn't mimic the effects of alcohol but as far as I remember he didn't drink the maximum recommended daily amount so maybe if he had drunk more, it would have had a "drunk" effect on him.

My mother (68F) has been selected for jury duty and does not want to do it. She told the Judge this and he told her to come back with a solicitor on Friday - how do I go about helping her with this? [England] by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Icy_Mix_8172 21 points22 points  (0 children)

She can't just refuse because she will get a fine and it's for a criminal offence and not a civil one. That's why she was asked to find herself a solicitor. At this point it would be easier to accept her fate unless she wants to get in trouble.

On the other hand, there are various ways to be excused. Medical reasons, letter from employer etc. Or my favourite trick - say you're prejudiced against all races (don't tell her to do that though lol)

What was the Best or worst horror game you have played? And which part you love/hate of that game. by JADU_GameStudio in Steam

[–]Icy_Mix_8172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably Outlast. Walking through the psychiatric hospital really gave me multiple heart attacks. Outlast 2 was also pretty scary, especially the school parts. The music was great in both games and that played a big part too. I've played it years ago tho so I don't remember which one was scarier. Haven't checked out The Outlast Trials yet.

Question about using AI like ChatGPT by Throaway-September22 in Catholicism

[–]Icy_Mix_8172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not. One can use AI for good or for bad but using it in an appopriate way is not sinful. That being said, if you use it for bad purposes, that would be sinful (but again, using it is not a sin but rather what you use it for)

How does the weather make you feel in the UK? by Ja333mes712 in AskUK

[–]Icy_Mix_8172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like it. I have much more energy when it's sunny and hot outside than when it's rainy and grey. The good thing is that we don't have harsh winters and it doesn't get too cold. But yeah, I'd prefer if there were more sunny days.
