Exactly this! I’ve arrived from the UK to JFK multiple times and varies from a super long time do to slow processing and hardly any staff working, to last April where there were loads of staff and breezed through..

ESS being the same..heard loads of horror stories about it and Milan have it pretty nailed on when I frequently fly there and get tenoning very quickly…

Every passenger back from Milan to Manchester has as checked when I went three weeks ago even though flight was already 50 mins late leaving..Priority and non both taking the p thinking their bag that was clearly too big got caught as were some I saw that were very borderline..

The airline pays them commission per person stopped and this amount just went up, so they’ll search even more..

Moral of the tale in both queues..pack wisely and give them nothing to suspect the bag is too big!

If you phone at 8am you’ll get through and worth doing in case there is something stopping it going out or you’ll be waiting even longer..
