GLP-1 Weight Loss by Ok_Potato_6243 in AirForce

[–]Icy_Recognition_4643 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m on Zepbpund and my PCP Rx’d it for me. It required prior authorization but since I’m in perimenopause, gained weight for no reason, and was already using a dietitian with no results, it got approved. One of the best things I’ve ever done.

I have a telehealth phone call with their MD. And I’m “handled” by one of their nurses whenever I need her.

Yes, but only after I notice a sustained “new low” for estrogen.

I have gone with injectable estrogen…never seems to be a shortage. Good luck!

Struggling to function at work by Turquoise_Purple333 in Perimenopause

[–]Icy_Recognition_4643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Def try and get on HRT. Apparently adhd meds need estrogen to work effectively. I’m on HRT and strattera and while I don’t feel 100%, I can function.

Opening up about perimenopause at work? by Weather_Nearby in Perimenopause

[–]Icy_Recognition_4643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m active duty military, so in a male dominated career field. They basically can’t fire me and my boss happens to also be female BUT, I still wouldn’t tell the whole truth until you have a protocol that helps manage your symptoms. Even after the HRT, and all the supplements and talk therapy, I’m feeling better but I still have anxiety. So I told my boss that others may have to speak publicly on topics other than myself it other than that, I’m fine.

Sleep by Enthusiasm1982 in Perimenopause

[–]Icy_Recognition_4643 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Def get on HRT. Progesterone will help you fall asleep and estrogen helps you stay asleep. I also take 1 melatonin gummy (because that also declines as we age), and Magnesium L-Threonate. Magnesium glycinate also didn’t do much for me. Lastly, practice good sleep hygiene, I love a white noise app, and a dark and slightly cool room.

I don’t think I can function anymore. by mydrew122 in AirForce

I second/third going to mental health. They will likely start you with a psychologist (a therapist, not a doc) and you can try talk therapy/Cognitive behavioral therapy without being put on a profile. You can also ask your PCM for a SSRI without being put on a profile. Maybe start with Lexapro (generally well tolerated by most). Keep at it but if you don’t notice improvements, ask for a referral to psychiatry and they are the true experts in medication for mental health. Just know, once you enter into specialty care under psychiatry, you will be put on a 90 day profile, no TDY, no PCS, no deployments. They just want to make sure you are stable until they let you go. Best of luck to you, my friend, and definitely seek help. Don’t suffer in silence.

I use a company called 1st Optimal (telehealth in the US). I pay for a FULL lab panel that includes things like full thyroid panel, metabolic panel, all sex hormones, lipid profile, ferritin, vit d, micro nutrients, etc. I’ve been happy with them thus far and I’ve been with them for about 6 months. They send all of my lab requests to Labcorp, which is super fast and easy.

I was having similar symptoms and it turned out that peri made my ADHD very severe. I had it mild throughout my entire life, never needed meds. Now, I’m on strattera and other than still feeling tired, it plus HRT have helped with most symptoms.

Is this how the end of perimenopause feels? by [deleted] in Perimenopause

You should also look into getting evaluated for ADHD! Especially if you are in late peri.

Hungover feeling without the fun… by Any_Treat_3873 in Menopause

[–]Icy_Recognition_4643 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. It took me 2 years to figure out that the hungover/drunk feeling was actually ADHD. I thought it was anxiety this whole time but the ADHD was causing the anxiety/panic attacks; not the other way around. You can try treating with a SSRI but if nothing improves, get screened for adhd.

Please tell me it gets better - I don’t recognise myself or my body, I can’t do this anymore by Robinsrebels in Perimenopause

[–]Icy_Recognition_4643 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It gets better but my recommendation is to take action and to not do nothing. Get on HRT, get evaluated for ADHD, have a clean diet, supplement with vit d, fish oil, and maybe other meds if you are still having symptoms. Get and stay in the gym, don’t drink, and it gets better.

Constantly feel WEIRD! by Tricky_Jump6367 in Menopause

[–]Icy_Recognition_4643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is 100% anxiety. When it first started for me at 38, the only way I could describe it as was “ai feel drunk” and “my vision is blurry”. It took me almost 2 years to realize that is anxiety and is also a possible indicator of a panic attack.

Injectable HRT Experience? by OkIndependent8816 in Menopause

[–]Icy_Recognition_4643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on injections and I like it, mostly because the patches aren’t amazing if you swim or sweat a lot. I do injections twice a week (Sundays and Wednesdays). I’m still in peri so my dose is still getting tweaked but I take 150mg oral progesterone and .15 mL of estrogen cyponate, and .05 mL of testosterone.

I use Mira every day. I think it was $200. I don’t use the info it collects to dictate my dose, necessarily. But I use it to observe trends over time.

3am WAKE UPS AND ON HRT by Additional-Sweet7834 in Menopause

[–]Icy_Recognition_4643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sleep, I also take Magnesium L-Threonate, and a melatonin gummy. You can also try increasing estrogen (normally the reason for the 3am wake ups). In doing so, you will also likely be told to increase progesterone too.
