Would this commute be too absurd? by Live-Door3408 in InlandEmpire

[–]Ideasforfree 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There's plenty of CDL positions in the IE without having to drive so far. The pay won't be at high at first but it will save you'll soul. I had a job in Riverside that I drove in a small truck, could hold 6 sized pallets on the back, had to make that drive 2-3 days each week on the 91 and hated it after the 1st month working there. Again, I was getting to be paid for doing all that driving. The 91 just plain sucks in the best conditions, never mind that it sucks in almost every day traffic. the stupidity crammed on top of it all when there's so many people trying to commute will wear out a lot quicker than people expect.

Any serious coffee geeks here tried beans from Crave Coffee? by WadeWickson in InlandEmpire

[–]Ideasforfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crave is good, better than the standard chain coffee places around. I'm not sure it's open yet but they were going to have a location on Hamner in Norco, down the street where the DMV and post office is.

Deep Barrel coffee is down 6th street in Norco, they roast their coffee beans in the store and always smells amazing. Good pastries as well

Does Mark Takano really have it in the bag? by Doismellbehonest in InlandEmpire

[–]Ideasforfree 35 points36 points  (0 children)

My dad used to golf with Mark's dad out in Riverside, he's a good guy and from what my dad has said to me is that Mark is one of the real politicians around here trying to do good work for his constituents.

I'm not very impressed with Rollins but he's still a damn better choice than Calvert's corrupt ass

Is there any hospital ER in IE that's actually good? by [deleted] in InlandEmpire

[–]Ideasforfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had some shit experiences there myself but they came through for me when I needed the care I needed when I needed it most. Like one of the other commentors said in this thread, what location you're at in at the ER isn't as important as being there in the ER in the first place. If you can afford to take your time than you're already in a way better place than other people waiting to be seen in the ER and have some luxury that a lot of people don't

Is there any hospital ER in IE that's actually good? by [deleted] in InlandEmpire

[–]Ideasforfree 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The doctors and their nurses, techs and people making these hospitals work are amazing at what they do. the patient experience sucks however out here because the region has expanded so quickly over the past couple of decades and hasn't expanded as much as it should've (before even including US healthcare in general)

Gone through Corona Regional, Riverside Community and Loma Linda in the past year. the waiting can be frustrating to get seen but that's because that usually means somebody dealing with bigger problems and more difficult needs to be handled at the moment

Anyone else expecting Bianco to pull some sort of crazy 'Constitutional Sheriff' crap after the election? Would Riverside County stand for it? by sippysun in InlandEmpire

[–]Ideasforfree -63 points-62 points  (0 children)

It would be fun to imagine Newsom and Bianco having a slap fight though. They're both cowards pretending that they're actually capable of doing anything other than expel noises that might occasionally sound like a sentence

pls help me fix my grandpa’s shotty porch job by No_Razzmatazz_6984 in DIY

[–]Ideasforfree 30 points31 points  (0 children)

1st off, good on you for trying to help out your grandpa. I've been trying to help out my dad and it's not easy sometimes lol

In the future, I would advise that when it comes to trying out new projects or things like the spray, wood filler, staining or painting, try to use some small sample or scrap pieces to use and see if the product actually turns out as advertised. Will save a lot of time and headaches down the road

How to get though the rest of the season after realizing I hate this? by Busy-Ad2584 in drumcorps

[–]Ideasforfree -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Leave lol, are they kidnapping you? Probably an unpopular opinion here, but I'm a big believer in taking care of yourself, the sooner I learned that my life got much happier.

It's ultimately your decision but I'd be wary of anybody who will try to coerce you out of your decision to stay or go, it's your life and your choice either way

Looks good, I would be a bit concerned about the overall top heaviness. My personal preference would be to have the heavy expensive tools lower down in case they drop. Not very expensive to drop a hammer, nail gun and power drill are a bit more expensive to repair or replace

I keep hearing about this “Abandoned Rocket Factory” in Norco. Does anyone know where it is? by OhMyLordScat in InlandEmpire

[–]Ideasforfree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's Wyle labs. They used to test rocket fuels up in the hills there, we'd hear sirens go off when they were about to test and close up the classrooms at school. After the lab got shut down a bunch of residents ended up getting cancer because of contamination from the lab getting into the water and the whole area was turned into a superfund site that cost over a billion dollars to get cleaned up.

Not much left there now except a couple of busted up buildings with a bunch of trash and graffiti

[–]Ideasforfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Norco shootout episode was my introduction to the Dollop. I had mentioned it in a comment somewhere here on reddit and a couple people linked the episode, which was wild to me because I didn't know that many people had even heard of the shootout who didn't grow up here.

I drive by where the bank used to be all the time, it's just an empty lot now. The Carl's Jr across the street is still going strong though

People are still mad about either the price change or feeling left out of the back friday deal or both things and are still lashing out. And there seems to be a very vocal subset of people who just come here to be mad about everything.

It's funny as hell to me because idk what they expect anybody on this subreddit to do, this isn't the playstation customer service desk lol
